We came here for the dinner buffet. It was moderately busy, as it was prime tourism season in the Wisconsin Dells. The place was fairly clean, the environment was pretty comfortable, with the exception of some loud children, which was to be expected. We purchased the buffet meal and headed up. To our dismay, there were two measly slices of pizza sitting there, some mashed potatoes, and some chicken. My bf and I grabbed what was left. The pizza was lukewarm(supreme type– ughh, gross), potatoes and chicken were fairly hot. My bf liked the chicken. We choked it down in about 30 seconds. We waited for about 15 minutes before any more food arrived, but had to scramble up there and get some before other people did. While we waited, we explored the worst salad bar we’ve ever seen. The lettuce was shredded into tiny bits. And toppings were measly. There was a nice selection of dressings. The cottage cheese was good, but then again, I didn’t pay $ 30 for a spoonful of cottage cheese. When more food arrived, there were three types of pizza that disappeared within about 2 – 3 minutes. The mac n cheese type was decent. The other types were very similar to what I remember as middle-school hot-lunch pizza. I’ve had many frozen pizzas better than this. It is rare that I find pizza that I don’t like, but this stuff was mediocre at best. The slices were, of course, small slivers because it was a buffet. The crust was soggy. We kept creeping back up there hoping for something else to enjoy. We tried the cactus pizza, which was good. This place boasts about taking requests for pizza types for the buffet and«bringing you the first slice!» but no one ever came to our table in the hour that we were there. In fact, no one even came to our table to check in at all! Between the both of us, we had accumulated maybe 6 or 7 plates, which were not collected until right before we left. We had each gotten waters, but we had heard other patrons complain that 3 of the fountain drink options were not functioning. We did not venture into the bathrooms. We aren’t the type to complain and we try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt, but we certainly won’t be coming back. Waste of our money for sure.

I wonder if they thought of the name«Chicken Ranch»? The only reason I am wondering about this, is while the pizza is good at Pizza Ranch, the fried chicken is the star of the show. In fact, their«sub slogan» is «the best chicken in the country.» Now I’ve had fried chicken in every corner of the USA, including at small town, backwater soul food kitchens in the deep south, seemingly at the heart of fried chicken country. If Pizza Ranch doesn’t make the best fried chicken in the country, I don’t know who does. It’s certainly the best I’ve ever had. Pizza Ranch started in small town Iowa and has grown to nearly 200 locations in a dozen states. It is a set price buffet restaurant, with pizza, fried chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, potato wedges, vegetables, a salad and dessert bar. I visited the outpost in Wisconsin Dells, and service, food, presentation and cleanliness were all over the top. The experience far exceeded my expectations. The price seems to vary somewhat from restaurant to restaurant, but it is generally in the range of $ 8-$ 10, some locations include a beverage, some charge extra. One nice note on the hospitality scale, when you pay(on your way in), they ask you what your favorite pizza toppings are, and they rush to make it, deliver the first hot slices to you, and place the pie on the buffet… which, incidentally, presents 12 – 16 pizzas at a time and is constantly refreshed. So different than some pizza buffets I have been to, like Cici’s or Round Table. The pizza is clearly levels above Pizza Hut, Dominos, Little Caesars, Papa Johns and the like. In many ways, it reminds me of the way Godfather’s prepares theit pies, a little thicker crust, a sauce that leans towards sweet and ample cheese, nicely melted. But as you might have guessed, I buried myself in fried chicken. Hot, crispy, nice breading, very juicy birds, and amply sized. They are certainly not buying diminutive birds like Popeye’s and KFC. Pizza Ranch is worth a stop, especially for families. I’d go again.

Weekend buffet is sooooo good! Clean, fresh, and filling. If you’ve got a large party this place is great. Their pizza is OK, but their fried chicken rocks. Kid friendly and worth the $!

If this Pizza Ranch was closer to my house I’d be in big, big, big trouble. I’ve been to chain pizza buffets before. Your choices are the standards like pepperoni, cheese, and a dessert pizza. Then they run out and the customers gather like vultures whenever a new pizza is brought out. So all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there is a buffet here. This blows any pizza buffet I’ve been to out of the water. Buffalo chicken pizza? Check. Chicken bacon ranch? Check. Standards? Check. Comfort foods like mashed potatoes, fried chicken, and mac and cheese? Oh, big check. No worries about circling over scraps, either. The buffet is well stocked. As for the pizza itself, I could so eat the buffalo chicken pizza all day. It packs some heat, but a tasty heat that isn’t overwhelming. The standards like pepperoni and sausage all are very solid. They’re all based on a tasty crust that isn’t too thick or too thin, and full of flavor. My wife absolutely loved the ranch cheese sticks. A nice twist on a standard appetizer. Bottom line, I loves me some Pizza Ranch. The pizza is great, the service is awesome, and the place is clean and nice. All around great.

This is Pizza Ranch lite. There is pizza, chicken and salad but not much else. The food tastes fine but the selection is very limited. On the flip side, the price is lower than a typical Pizza Ranch and the service was really good.

This is one of those times when I wish Unilocal had half stars. I’d give this Pizza Ranch location a solid 3.5 stars. Everything was perfectly good, and there was a lot of variety. We had our three kids along, so being able to pick and choose made our lives easier that day. Being a sugar addict, I was really pleased to see dessert pizzas. I was surprised at how this place was. There was a room that could be closed off for private parties(I’m guessing, why else would it have doors?). We ate there right at dinner time and got a booth(window!) with no trouble at all. I’ll take a booth over a table ANYDAY. Would I eat here again? If it were convenient, sure, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to do so.

Very good buffet, excellent price. They have a lot to choose from, there is no way you would walk away from this place hungry.

since it’s called«pizza ranch» i expected much better pizza. tried the lunch buffet last week. good variety of pizza, but the variety is all that’s good about it. quality is… well terrible might be too strong a word, but i can say that i have had much better frozen pizza. to be honest, the pizza here tastes like it was frozen, just blah, bland, each pizza i tried tasted kinda the same. the salad bar was small, typical, about what you can find at pizza hut or even chuck e. cheese. one choice of soup, a very boring chili that tasted like it came straight from a can. also, we paid for soda, think it was about $ 1.50 above the price of the buffet, which isn’t too bad. got done with the meal and saw they also had coffee. but… it’s another $ 1.25(or so) if you want a cup of coffee! «service» also is nothing to brag about, even though all they need to do is remove your old plates. for some reason, even though they were not even close to busy, our plates would pile up quite a bit before being taken away. on the plus side, the fried chicken was very good, and so were the«loaded» mashed potatoes. basically, for the same price, hometown buffet is a million times better, much better selection, quality, and when you pay for drinks you get everything they have, soda, coffee, iced coffee, juice, slushees, you name it. if all you want is a pizza buffet, and you don’t have a pizza hut that offers a buffet near you, go ahead and give it a try, everyones opinion is different!

Pizza Ranch of Baraboo was always able to please me. I would go there about twice a month… I was a huge fan of the chicken, however pizza was good too! I have to say I wish they had a Pizza Ranch in Middleton. The value for the money is a 3 out of 5 in my opinion, but because service and food was always good I have to rate it a 4.

All you can eat cardboard pizza, uck. Maybe for children with children who all want something different. However, if you want food with flavor and quality, keep looking. Their fried chicken is maybe the best thing on the buffet(if it is hot and fresh). It still could use some seasoning.

Enjoyed the lunch buffet. $ 7.50 for adults and 65¢ x age of child — fountain sodas were quite reasonable at $ 1.50 for adults. Nothing here was great but most everything was quite good. The buffet had a good select(way more than pizza hut) and was well stocked. The service was excellent as they cleared used dishes from the tables quite regularly.

This Pizza Ranch is pretty good. My girlfriend enjoyed the food much more than I did. At any Pizza Ranch you can specially order any pizza you like. They take a little too long to make your pizza. The desert pizzas are great! I suggest blueberry.

Went there after a long day at Turtle Island Beads(UGH! wife spends WAYTOOLONGLOOKINGATBEADS!) We were there so long I was ready to eat anything in sight. Welcome to Pizza Ranch! First I have a pet peeve. If I visit your establishment and make a order, and you have a coupon that applies to my order. Offer me the coupon price! DONOTSTANDTHERELIKE A ROBOT! ANDLETMEPAYFULLPRICE!!! UGH! We order a couple of small pizza’s cheese, and a buffalo. one was supposed to be pan and the other deep dish. when we got them they looked pretty much the same. whatever. They actually were good. Good for pizza in the middle of Wisconsin, ya know? But the pizza is not the reason to come here! weird I know, but there Fried Chicken and Wedges, were very very good. They came to the table burning hot without being greasy. The chicken was crispy and juicy-dare i say best in the area! and the wedges were like fried mashed potatoes MMM, MMM, you must dip them in ranch or blue cheese. Overall worth coming to. When ordering check their wall behind the register it has all their current coupons(we would have saved around eight dollars).
