I live in Baraboo and have been to this place twice. My first experience, I walked in and was never greeted by anyone. I asked a question about a doughnut, what is this filled with? Not a hard question, her response, I don’t know, I’ll have to check. It took her 5 minutes! I bought a few of them and NEVER received a thank you! I walked out that door and promised to never return. Obviously, I returned, but only because I had a friend visiting me from out of town who refuses to eat grocery/gas station store doughnuts and this was the only bakery in town that sells doughnuts. Now mind you, it was a year since my visit. AGAIN! No greeting! Nobody acknowledged us until we asked a few questions, prices, and fillings of the doughnuts. This time I purchased a couple cut out cookies, HARD and very tasteless. For the price of a expensive cookie, this was unacceptable! We got there in between 11:30am — 12:00pm. The doughnuts my friend purchased were very stale, medium/hard. Again, unacceptable for a bakery. We honestly took one bite of each thing we bought, and TOSSED them out! I took her to Casey’s general store in town and bought her a couple doughnuts she loved them! She is now ok w/eating gas station doughnuts. Thanks neat-o’s for helping me get my friend to change her mind!

I didn’t spend a lot of time in here, but I came in here while investigating downtown Baraboo, and this looked cute. They are a small shop with a couple spots for seating(seats less than 10 people total). They seem to make customized cakes, and they are insanely gorgeous and detailed. It’s impressive. For those who want to satisfy a sweet tooth, though, this place also serves other things. They have cupcakes, mini cakes, home-made pop tarts, lots of breaded goods, and much more. I was surprised by their huge selection. A lot of it is in the cases, but they also have pre-packaged sweets(especially bread) that you can just grab and go if you just want to stop in quickly. I was surprised to see that they can satisfy your chocolate craving AND your craving for a good breaded item. I ended up trying the home-made pop tart and a cookies & cream mini cake. Both were pretty good. I wish the cake came with a fork or something to eat it with, but I had to figure out my own silverware solution. Honestly, though the«mini cake» is only about a 3“x3″ square, you’re going to probably want to split it with someone. It was delicious, but I was sick of chocolate by the time I was half-way through. The pop-tart was good as well, and it was extremely flaky. There were an insane amount of crumbs all over the floor when I was done, so I suggest being careful about where you eat that one. It didn’t taste quite like a Pop-Tart, but it did taste good.

Excellent donuts, especially the donut holes and apple fritters. The homemade House bread is amazing!!! We are totally hooked. They have a good array of various baked goods. Just make sure you come early in the day if you want something in particular because some days they sell out of certain stuff. Great prices too!

Wow! I was in the area camping with my family over my birthday. I needed to get my birthday cake, which I unashamedly order for myself every year, since only I know exactly what I want! I had 1 month previously emailed another private baker in the area, who had excellent Unilocal reviews, but alas, she didn’t deign to answer me. The week before, I gave up on her, and contacted Neat-O’s. They couldn’t have been nicer, giving me suggestions, and volunteered to do things I didn’t think I had the right to ask for, given that this was a small cake. It came out beautifully, and it could not have tasted any more wonderful!!! Also, while we were there to pick up the cake, since we were there at breakfast time, we had some of the donuts. They, too were incredible. The apple fritters were delish, but the donut that looked like bavarian cream, but was filled with chocolate cream, was off the charts beyond dreams! Thank you, Neat-O’s for giving me a memorable birthday!

Placed an order for a custom cake on short notice, which turned out to be their busiest weekend of the year. I told them I wanted a John Deere tractor cake and they could design it(surprise me!)…not only did they take my short-notice order, but they exceeded my expectations! The cake was perfect! I had their cake and a Costco cake, most people preferred the Neat-O’s cake over the Costco cake for flavor(and clearly the artwork!).

I’m from an urban area where bakeries are an almost every corner. This bakery needs an uplift. Been here at least 5 times and just once were the cupcakes actually soft. Every other time? Rock hard or stale. The place is always so quiet and dark and dreary. C’mon. For sweet treats can’t we try just a little harder? They must know they are the only bakery in the area; one could come in and easily put this place under. Employees seem miserable– the cakes are hard– and the atmosphere screams depressed!

In the area visiting friends & family and decided to check out this cute little bakery. WOW! What a delicious surprise. The $ 2.50 Cuban sandwich was excellent. Also enjoyed a glazed donut and cinnamon roll. Tasted great! Definitely worth the stop in downtown Baraboo. We’ll be back!
