Bar Harbor Auto Stop

Scott, the owner, is great. responsive, professional and keeps you in the loop. He was able to do a brake job in a day and keep us on track on our vacation

Drove seven hours to Bar Harbor for a quick vacation and on the second day noticed a large puddle of oil beneath my engine. I called up Bar Harbor Auto Repair at 8:30 am on a Saturday and was told to come in at 9 am. Scott was in the garage and immediately put my car up to take a look. I wandered around town for thirty minutes and when I got back he had fixed the leak and only charged me for an oil change. Excellent service, very reasonable price, and a life saver.

Despite what the other reviews say I had expetional service. I was stuck with a broken u-​joint which noise developed after the road trip from CT. I did not know what was wrong and thought it was going to be something more expensive like a ball bearing or worse driveshaft but I could not drive home without getting it fixed.
I was extremely nervous after reading reviews on google but didn’t have much of choice since I was staying at a hotel close to Bob’s. I called that evening and was told to come in the morning.
I went with my wife and Bob immediately put in on the lift and showed me exactly what was wrong with it after only a few minutes of troubleshooting. He told me and my wife to go have breakfast around the corner which was VERY good (sorry can’t remember name). By the time we were done, so was my repair. I was charged an extremely reasonable amount for labor and was probably a ¹⁄₃ of what I would be charged in Fairfield County CT. These guys were extremely courteous, honest, friendly, speedy mechanics I have ever had the experience of dealing with. Their friend sitting in the office even offered us friendly advice of things to do while in town. I seriously cannot say enough. I just might save some maintenance work for them next time I’m there.
If you are on vacation and need a repair at least go check them out. Bob seemed like a great family man.
