OMG! This place, hands down had the best Clam Chowder I have EVEREVER had! And I love me some Clam Chowder :-) Stayed at a quant place down the street and the fellow there suggested the Wheelhouse and noted that we should sit upstairs in the Crowsnest, as they had full menu and better view. Wow, was he correct! Next time we are any where near here, we will be back for the Clam Chowder!

Very over priced! It is sad when your waitress tells you first what they are out of before the nightly specials. $ 23.00 for rock fish and they ran out of rice! I was served 3 haves of a red potato. Veggies were over cooked and saturated in oil and too much spices and garlic. Food reminded me of an old folks home. I will give 1 star do to the location and epic sunset.

Two stars– misleading advertising. They have a sign out front saying they serve expresso. After searching good old Unilocal for any possible coffee options at 5pm on a Friday, this was our only apparent espresso provider within 20 miles. So we venture in with the plan to grab some espressos and a dessert to share. Long story short, ordered espresso and were told that they know the sign says they have it, but actually don’t(so we’re not the only ones…). End up ordering two coffees and a cheesecake. I can’t say I was super chipper about paying $ 3 for a small cup of coffee after that though. On a lighter note, they do have a few board games which did help improve my mood. The cheesecake was also decent(though not really worth the cost in my opinion).

The quality of the seafood itself is outstanding but the preparation was just ok. I had the rockfish sautée. The fish was perfectly cooked, and had a delicate texture. It was smothered in mushrooms. I love mushrooms. But the dish was bland. My daughter had a crab cocktail. Huge lumps of fresh crab. It was a VERY generous portion. Delightful service. Décor is extremely outdated, but we’ve given up on expecting decent décor on the Oregon Coast. In my experience there is no correlation between good food and décor.

We went at lunch time and I ordered the Greek burger… I was not impressed, perhaps when at the coast I should stick with seafood. The lamb and beef burger was well done they used iceberg lettuce and rye toast with it and a spring mix on a brioche bun would have been a much better combo. I will try a steak next time I come as they seem to have great reviews on that

Let me tell you! Wow! Stopped in here, famished, after being on the road for hours… First the décor… very eclectic… perfect for the location! Everything was clean, neatly organized and dusted well! Even the bottles on the fireplace mantel were dusted! Way to go! The service was spectacular! I am terrible with names, however the woman that took care of us was welcoming, sweet and full of smiles! Our water glass was NEVER empty… we had parched while travelling and she even mentioned she was aware of how much traveling on the road can dry you out when I thanked her for being on top of our water glasses! The water was delicious… Infused with lemon, lime and orange slices. Yes please!!! I ordered the recommended halibut and my husband chose a club sandwich. I was hesitant, but expectant due to the $ 19 price tag… and they did not dissapoint! My fish was fantastic! It was perfectly fried, not too greasy, moist Inside and bursting with flavor! My husband’s sandwich was equally impressive! Perfectly toasted poppy bread, crispy lettuce, spot on bacon, mellow cheese that didn’t steal the show, amazing turkey and a lovely tomato! The best part… The SLAW. Honestly, I despise slaw. It is detestible… I am so offended by the cheap store bag mix blended with mayo that so often takes up valuable space on the plate, all in a slap dash effort to fill your tummy for a few pennies. It is quite offensive really! Not at the wheelhouse! Gorgeous, enticing and full of beautifully sliced green onion and parsley leaves. It complemented my fish better than their homemade tartar sauce! I ate it all… even stole some of my husband’s(hehehe) it was that good! Long story short… Eat here, smile, enjoy and tip your server, you won’t be dissapointed!

My family and I went to the Wheelhouse for dinner this weekend, and it was amazing. The waitress we had was one of the nicest waitress I have ever met. She was very sweet, and didn’t get upset when my brother knocked over his soda. The food there was amazing. I’m really picky about my food, and everything was up to par to me. Even my mom liked it, and she is not a huge seafood fan. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in Bandon visiting or resides there.

Bad service, flavorless food, snooty atmosphere and to top it off they charged me 2 dollars to not cook my oyster.

I can’t speak for everyone in my group, but my experience was underwhelming. I ordered the Greek burger. The only thing Greek about it was the feta sprinkled on top. It came on two pieces of dry sandwich bread toast. You were supposed to smear it with sour cream(Not Greek. Should have been tzatziki). The meat had some good flavor and it wasn’t dry. Iceberg lettuce and a mealy tomato on top is never a good idea. I ate the burger without the toast, as did everyone else at the table that ordered the same thing. The fries were so-so. I left feeling like I wasted my money and wished I would have gone somewhere else.

We ate in the CrowsNest along the Windows to enjoy the view. The shrimp cocktails were fresh and tender. House salad was such a variety of deliciousness Our main selections were very good. The scallops were cooked in butter and lemon, very fresh and tastes of the sea.

Wonderful seafood, creatively prepared and with the best accompanying dinner salad ever. We ate here in September and several other times in the past 10 years. Every table has a view out the windows towards the harbor. In old Bandon-by-the-Sea by the harbor. We live near the coast and working harbors and The Wheelhouse equals any of our local seafood restaurants and betters their prices. Two dinners, one glass of wine, one dessert plus tip = $ 63.

We have always enjoyed The Wheelhouse. I love their house dressing and have tried to duplicate it at home with limited success. I’m not a seafood fan so I usually get the fettuccini or spinach pie. My family had gotten seafood though and have enjoyed it. This place isn’t fancy and probably isn’t the best food in Bandon but it’s good and we have consistently had friendly and fast service. We live in Coquille and go a few times a year and will continue to return.

We stopped here after a cruise on Carnival. We walked the pier to watch the sunset, then chose this restaurant as many were closed. What a brilliant discovery this was! Madison, our waitress started us with a glass of wine and some bread and butter. She answered any questions we had about the menu with knowledge of all the restaurant’s menu options. I had the spicy shrimp, my husband had scallops. Our entrees came with a side salad that rivals any side salad I’ve ever had. It wasn’t the size, it was the creativity of it. It had baby shrimp, red cabbage, raisins and more, the house dressing was wonderful. My husband had clam chowder that he said was better than he had prior. It wasn’t full of potatoes, like many do to cover up the lack of clams. It wasn’t full of flour, like others either. Very tasty too! All in all, this meal was better than any meal we had on our Carnival cruise, and we had a lot! We would wholeheartedly recommend The Wheelhouse restaurant, and we hope you get Madison, as a waitress. She gave us excellent service.

You know the food is good when there is a line out the door. Our group had a very solid, decent meal here for lunch. Seafood and chips, fish and chips, salads, wine by the glass. Everyone liked their lunch. The view is nice, and the prices were fair. This place is nothing to write home about but if you are looking for a decent meal in downtown Bandon you probably won’t be disappointed. The only low point here is the service. We came at the beginning of lunch hour, and understood the wait being a local favorite but the service was painfully slow, and you could see seats available. The wait for beverages and ordering was glacial, and it was hard to understand given that the place didn’t seem slammed. Still, I would recommend this restaurant.

Great, great place! I dine out a lot and this is one of my favorite places to go. Really great service and amazing food! The quality of the food, the portions, menu selection, and pricing make it worth the trip!

An ode to the Wheelhouse Seafood Grill: No no no no no No no oh no no no Nope nope nope nope nope Save your money, not a very good meal. Singularly uninspiring. Except of course, it inspired a haiku. Salmon steak with crab in butter — salmon was very fresh but the thicker part was actually still raw on the inside. Crab in butter, kind of a hot mess. Veg and potatoes were uninspiring. My boyfriend’s crabcakes were not very nice. The house salad, kind of gross, with limp little soggy shrimp and an overabundance of dressing. Waitresses were good, though ours was kind of sad and I felt like she needed a hug. She looked completely unsurprised when we asked for the check with our dinners half eaten. She was attentive, kept our water glasses full, and she’s the reason there’s even a star at all. Would not eat here again.
