Tommy’s Downtown Tavern

Found this place some what accidentally. I was looking for a bar near the stadium that wasn’t your typical stadium bar. Found this while walking near where the bus dropped me off and I was more than pleased. Only had a couple beers but judging by the owner being really awesome and friendly, I will return for sure.

One of my favorite places to grab a cold beer and steak and cheese. In addition to the wide selection of beers and the great food, the service is incredible. Never have I been so welcomed by an owner and bartenders. Tommy, Ma, and Regan are the best. Love this place.

Went here on Friday and the service was very prompt for a Friday night. The pours were nice and the bartender even remembered my name the second time I was ordering… which hardly happens anymore. Would definitely come back for the alcohol selection and the people.

I have such cravings for Tommy’s cheesesteaks! The staff is nice and they socialize with all of the customers. I was in there last night, where I made some new friends, as I always do because the customers are all very easy going. The owner threw on some Spanish music for the Latina ladies in the bar, without them requesting… How’s that for service? They taught my friend and I some dance moves which was just a blast. The owner cranked the music and we danced for a while with no one judging. I always meet new and fun people when I come here, and we try all sorts of beers and shots as the alcohol selection is top notch including every flavor of vodka and craft beers bottled as well as on tap… the selection rotates.

What bar have you EVER been in and the bathrooms are actually clean?
Aside from Tommy’s being close by, it’s family owned. The owner was behind the bar taking orders and serving the food! It’s a nice local bar and had a nice flat screen and more tables behind the bar.
I suggest:
*the wings– nice and juicy and spicy!
*the sweet potato fries are YUMMY!!!
*beer– Yueng Ling on tap!
I strongly suggest that you pay cash because: (1) There’s like a 3.00 charge to use your card (2) They do that to subsidize the fee
How they manage not to be a slum bar, I don’t know, but they do it. I strongly encourage everyone to support and keep Tommy’s in business– it’s small business done right and we need more spots like this!

I am so glad that this bar is only a block away from me! Been a fan ever since it has opened up and this place continues to get better. They are now serving crabs along with steamed shrimp on the weekends, and they have expanded their draft beer selection. Overall, they have pretty much the best alcohol selection around.
Now no one ever expects to get crabs at a corner bar, but here you can on the weekends and they are the sweetest crabs I have had in a very long time. I hope to try out their steamed shrimp really soon, and their regular fare (the steak subs are huge) is also really good.
They are a great addition to the Pigtown neighborhood and I am always glad to spend some of my hard earned money there.
Oh yeah, this is the place to be during Ravens games; free shots for every Ravens touchdown.

I got down to Tommy’s the other night while hanging out with a buddy of mine who lives in the area. I gotta say, some may call it a dive bar, but I can’t call it a dive. It’s simply too well polished and just generally done right.
Hell, the bathroom was more well put together than some nicer restaurants I’ve been in. Drafts were ok, but a very solid bottle selection that will have a little something for everyone. Didn’t get a chance to eat, but did see someone downing some of the crabs that they serve (yet again, who gets crabs from a dive bar?) and they looked very tasty.
The locals and the staff were all friendly and quite entertaining. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area.

My local corner bar! Tommys is a great spot for watching the football games, or just having a drink right down the street from the stadium. They have 4 large TVs and NFL sunday ticket with games on all day on sundays. free shots for Ravens touchdowns!
Tommy’s has a huge liquor selection and really great prices. not big on their draft selection, but they do have one of the largest selections of STONE beers in the city, which is awesome.
The staff at Tommys is helpful and fun. This is a mom and pop joint that really cares about their neighborhood, and they are a great addition to pigtown. I am very happy to have them so close to my house.
