Neat hipster café with couches and tables you can study on(not very well lit though but does have outlets). Vietnamese iced coffee is great– must try! They sell a variety of buns too! Great place to study, chill or chat :)

Small selection but that’s never a problem — everything is delicious! Love the fact that they are open so late since there aren’t many late night options downtown that offer vegetarian and vegan options. It’s also priced very fair. Staff seems tired and slow but I would be too if I was working alone in a café at 1am, so not a biggy. Take away = tasty food for a cheap price late night, such a win!

4.5 stars! Nice and calm place to chill out and do work. It’s more authentic than your local Starbucks. I got the Vietnamese iced coffee and Chai bun, which hit the spot after a long day at work.

The must haves are the Rotiboy and Vietnamese iced coffee. They will CHANGEYOURLIFE. Service was awesome, wifi was solid, and the décor was 110% Instagram worthy. This is my new absolute favorite coffee shop in town. Easily one of the best in Baltimore.

Dark and dank and not very clean. Not a good selection at all. I was very disappointed to see no Cinnamon rolls. Meh.

The Bun Shop is a cute, hipster coffee shop in Mount Vernon. The late night hours make it a perfect place to study or to grab a bite after a night at the bars. They also have a bunch of board games for you to use. Inside it has a great vibe. The seating is eclectic — there’s couches, small tables, armchairs, and long bench tables. And the music is not too loud to distract you from your work. I probably wouldn’t come here to hardcore study, just because it can get crowded and get a little loud, but if you have some relaxed work to get done then the Bun Shop is perfect. The buns change daily, but they always have sweet and savory options. Hard to say which one is my absolute favorite, but I really like the feta and cheese bun, the ham and gruyère, and the chicken pasty. And you HAVE to try the Vietnamese iced coffee! As for parking there’s some metered spaces out front.

I came here to pick up a treat for my friend’s birthday but didn’t expect to like the place so much. The atmosphere is very chill. Perfect for just hanging out or just studying. The drink I got was a lavender tea latte recommended to me by the barista and I love it! It’s not overpowering but has a strong lavender flavor that most places can’t pull off very well. Definitely coming back!

Lovely place to study into the night. There isn’t anything here I can eat, as everything has gluten and/or dairy in it, so I buy a water and set up on a comfy couch. The minus one star is because of the haphazard outlet layout. Everyone has their devices plugged in wherever they can find. Well, last night I tripped over someone’s laptop cord stretched across the aisle, and nearly face planted on the hard floor. A better setup is warranted, as the café could wind up in a ugly lawsuit should someone get injured.

Amazing. The buns, the drinks, the atmosphere. It’s perfect. It’s sort of got this dark, chill atmosphere inside and it’s the perfect study place for me. A little loud, but not too loud and great hours(the one on read street is open till 3 am!) I love their buns. They have both savory and sweet kinds and rotate their selection. My favorite is the runza which has beef and sauerkraut and all sorts of delicious things in it. They also opened a new location in downtown so check that out!

Ok, so I’ve been to the Bun Shop twice now. It’s definitely time to write a review. The shop is located a block away from my job. After reading the reviews I knew this was a place that I had to make an effort to stop by. I’m happy I did! The inside of this quaint gem is very dark with a quite welcoming feeling. It’s an open space set with home style chairs, tables and couches. When you walk up to the counter if there is no one visible you ring a bell to summon service. On display are about 7 – 8 pasties ranging from sweet to savory. They have an awesome tea and coffee list that is sure to please most. I’ve tried the savory, which I can only describe as «pot pocket pies»!! They are dancing full of flavor and the surrounding pastry is always on point(I’m such a bread girl). Yesterday I did dabble into the sweet with a chocolate chip cookie filled with Nutella… I WASOUTOFTHISWORLD. I’m still thinking about it a day later. I’ll be back Bun Shop…

This place is so hip, it’s awesome. I had a vietnamese coffee with a ham and cheese pastry. Both were incredibly delicious and not out of this world expensive. The woman at the register was also very kind and accommodating. They have sofas, community benches, and coffee tables. The wifi was fast enough to digital nomad for a couple of hours. The ambiance is so hip and awesome. Cool furniture and decals on the windows to give it a oldschool, grungey attitude. The bath room is lit with a life sized desk lamp. They also have games in the back like connect and jenga. Would definitely come back here again when I’m in Baltimore!

So far I’ve only had their Hong Kong style coffee and I love how their tea bag is. Prices seem decent and I see people eat here. HOWEVER my favorite thing about this place is how they’re open late(3am!) and the ambience! It’s a very chill hip-sterish vibe with couches and board games.(I love couches). They have succulents placed here and there with local event flyers on a drawer. The new study spot!

Some things at The Bun Shop are extremely good. I feel like it could use some finishing touches, though. I can vouch for the pasty(sort of like a pot pie hot pocket), and the feta and spinach tart. My wife had something else, and liked it, but I forget what it was, and she wouldn’t give me a bite. I drank a cinnamon tea, which was very tasty, but which also had pretty big chunks of cinnamon and/or tea that had escaped the fancy store-made bags. We split a filled cookie of some kind, I think it was pumpkin and cream cheese, sort of a modification on the snickerdoodle. It was less sweet and more bready than I expected. Good, just not what I would call a cookie, more like a muffin top. The furniture seems to be kind of haphazardly bought from craigslist, which is charming until you feel like your chair’s going to collapse. Nice atmosphere, though — my wife kept talking about how great the music selection was. Very relaxed and cool. That pasty really was delicious. This is close to a 5 star.

Another«ehh» in a land full of supposed oohs and ahhs. The Bun Shop’s name is a tad bit misleading because you’d think this place served up quite a few«buns.» It turns out their selection is pretty limited. The space is really cool. It has that grungy, hipster, early 90’s vibe to it. The clientele is also similar. However, the way the«buns» are displayed was rather unappetizing. One of each offering was displayed under a glass case with a small little ID tag to let the customer know what each item is. When I took a gander, I decided on the ham and cheese bun and the guava and cheese bun. I mean, I’m from Miami. I have to get a pastelito. I also ordered a hot vietnamese style coffee with condensed milk. I got my coffee rather quickly. Then the waiting… 1 minute…2 minutes…3 minutes… Uhh.excuse me? Where are my buns? Oh! Oops! We’re sorry. We forgot. Dude, I had just ordered the buns and they forgot that quickly. SMH. The guava cheese pastry was okay but it wasn’t anything like my usual pastelitos de guayaba y queso. What a bummer. The ham and cheese bun was actually quite good. It was crispy and hot. Overall, this place gets a C from me.

The Bun Shop has been on my list of places to go for a long time. I love food, especially food made with love. Sad to say, I didn’t experience food made with love here. The buns were lackluster. Upon receiving my buns(I ordered the«Dirty Boy» and«Ham and Gruyère») the first thing I noticed was how lukewarm it was. If you don’t mind lukewarm food maybe you’ll enjoy this café more than I did. The ham and Gruyère was flavorful and it was flaky. The issue was… there wasn’t enough ham. The dirty boy was worse than the ham and gruyère. I was expecting a piping hot bun on a plate with powdered sugar. When I was asked if the order was«for here or to go» I figured it was because they were going to plate the bun nicely. Instead I got lukewarm bun in a bag… sad days. The best thing I ordered was the chai latte. If I were to come back I would get this again. All in all, The Bun Shop is very hipsteresque and is a great place to write a paper or read a book. However, I had high expectations that didn’t live up to the hype.

How is it possible that I have yet to visit this endearing coffee shop, errr… for me… a late night spot. This shop was busy even after midnight on a weeknight. It’s a little trendy, and full of young adults and local students. The Bun Shop is a little off the beaten path in Mount Vernon, but with plenty of parking, it is definitely worth a stop and I will always pick this spot of Milk and Honey, as they seem perfectly able to prepare your food and your coffee in less than 35 minutes. The Bun Shop basically brings the people all the street foodies from around the world that can be found on a bun. I don’t have any idea why we thought it was a good idea to get four buns, but we did. They are not huge, and they are not particularly cheap, ranging from about $ 4-$ 6 each, but it was perfect to satisfy that late night craving without breaking the bank. Follow these descriptions for the buns in the picture from right to left. I know, that’s a little backwards, maybe cause I was born in China; I could have picked something up along the way. A mushroom tart — which was flakey and earthy, the dough offers a nice almost a little sweet texture and flavor contrast. A ham and gruyère twist — a generous amount of filling in a light, flaky, pastry crust; a perfect combination of saltiness, with just a hint of sweet buttery perfection. An empanada — which I always manage to mispronounce as empiñata — this was actually my favorite of the night — but I can’t for the life of me remember what was inside. The dough was a little dense, but not chewy and kind of flaked apart in your mouth. The Runza, which I believe is Russian, was an enclosed dough ball stuffed with beef, sauerkraut, and dijon mustard. This is a yeast style dough, so it is thicker and chewier, more like your pizza or calzone crust.

I LOVE the Bun Shop. So much so that since someone introduced me to this cute café, I’ve brought others here to enjoy the splendor and rustic charm that lives at the Bun Shop. There are a bunch of nooks and crannies to sit down around here, but my favorite is the big table in the middle… mostly because it’s perfect for games, which the Bun Shop has plenty to choose from. There are definitely quite a few students here, but at the same time many ongoing conversations. This is one of those places where both can happen simultaneously. It’s kind of perfect. The variety of delicious buns most likely attracts the all of the customers who frequent here. That and the lavender tea — omg! Yum. I love it because it is so floral, calming, and flavorful. Can’t wait to introduce more people to this great place!

OK… call me a grandma but this place is too dark to do work! After staring at my comp in the dark, my eyes hurt. I can see if you come during the day, it would be alright because they have large windows but I’ve only come at night and the lights are annoyingly hipsterly-dim. Got the honey caffe macchiato and it was too sweet for my taste.(Yeah, yeah, yeah… I’m a grandma), I know that it had honey in it but it had too much or something. Also, was not hot enough IMO. The pastries in the front looked not so appetizing with flies all over it but I noticed they had a fresh batch come out of the oven and it smelled pretty good so I got the spinach feta. The crust was deliciously buttery and flakey and definitely didn’t taste healthy for you but my taste buds thoroughly enjoyed. This place does get crowded with students and finding an open spot can be tricky. They have a couple of long tables where a lot of people can share but even those can fill up fast. I do like the music and vibe in here. They also have some board games. You need a key to go to the bathroom that is connected to a big clunky cup. I hate when places do that but understand that sometimes you need to keep the non-patrons out.

I was so excited about this place when I got into Baltimore and sadly, I think my expectations were a bit too high. The space was funky and had lots of interesting pieces of décor but overall the space was very dark to get work done. Barista was very helpful and my honey macchiato was delicious and came in a very nice china cup. I was a little disappointing in their bun selection. From the website it looks like you’ll have about 20 options to choose from but when we arrived, there were about four. We had the Guava and cheese flute and the apple and Gruyère. The Guava was far superior and was our favorite choice. Overall I’d say it was an interesting experience but I don’t think I would go back.

The Bun Shop serves up delicious cups of caffeinated drinks and lovely, warmed buttery savory and sweet pastries. Flaky pastries with scrumptious fillings, the favorites being the guava cheese flute and the ham and cheese. The rotiboy was good, but it wasn’t very special for me, since I am used to getting similar asian breads frequently. It was really difficult to find any seating, as it is a coffeeshop with a lot of people on laptops, studying away. SX would argue it’s too«hipster» for his tastes, but the Bun Shop would be a pretty nice to study with it’s delicious drinks, pastries, and subdued coffeehouse music. Only 4 stars due to the lack of plates for all of the pastries, lack of clean seating, and lukewarm service(but, to be fair, there was only one barista server doing everything). Camping coffee cup acts as the key holder for the bathroom.
