Perfect greasy, cheap breakfast(had the two eggs/sausage/hash browns platter). Definite hangover cure, and I want to come back here and try the pupusas. Thumbs up.

The pupusas are hot, fresh, and delicious! They have three flavors including cheese, cheese and bean, and cheese and pork. I tried the first two flavors and found them to be very tasty. The slaw which accompanies the pupusas is zesty and flavorful — perfect to go top the hot corncakes. Though I ordered takeout, I can’t wait to return to this shop to dine in. Do be aware that seating is limited and parking can be difficult on Eastern Avenue. None these, run, don’t walk, to this hidden gem in Highlandtown!

After eating a less-than-satisfying dinner at Chicken Rico down the street(it just wasn’t enough for a change, ack!), I was in search of just the perfect addition to my meal. I have really been craving tamales for quite a while, so my husband and I decided to stop here and see if they had them. To my delight, they did — so I ordered a «number one combination», which consisted of 2 pupusas(your choice of filling) and one tamale. I figured that my husband and I could split the dish and end the evening on a cloud of delicious goodness. The three stars are for the pupusas queso, which were GREAT and if that’s all we had ordered, the review would have been vaulted up to at least four stars, maybe even five. So what brought this down so low? The tamale, the main thing that I had come here for, was easily the WORST tamale I have ever had. And I mean ever. I unwrapped it and it was actually SLIMY — I took a small bite of the tortilla and nearly gagged. It was so bad that I had to grab a napkin and spit it all out — and if I do this, it’s REALLY, really awful. I was so disappointed. My husband braved this monstrosity — and he actually did finish it. But he said that it was easily one of the worst tamales he’d ever eaten. Would we come back here? For the pupusas, absolutely — they were seriously delicious. Cheesy, creamy in the middle, just the right amount of salty — they were really, really good. But omg, the tamale, that was just made of nightmare. I will NEVER order that again. The combination was 7.22 with tax. Cash only, no plastic. We’ll come back for the pupusas, but nothing else.

i love pupusas! i could eat them every day. and the ones from here did not disappoint! good food, cheap prices, large portions. the perfect place to grab a quick lunch. i would definitely come back again. the only thing we didn’t like was the pineapple pastry they had for dessert. next time i’ll use that money to get an extra pupusa instead. =)

There is reasonable variety. Everything we tried was flavorful and very reasonably priced. The pupusas are around $ 2/each with several options. The priciest thing on the menu was around $ 13 for costilla asada. Service was very good and the place was clean and comfortable.

I always love hole in the wall ethnic joints. I have been hoping that a pupuseria would open in the highlandtown area for some time. This place did not disappoint. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. It is also clean and vibrant. Grab a great lunch here.
