NY Chicken & Grill

So maybe I had my hopes set high because this isn’t in the greatest neighborhood and I figured with a name like NY Chicken, that they’d have well… good chicken. A group of my friends decided to have a Baltimore delicacy brunch of good ol’ Baltimore, chicken and waffles. When we called to order, the person on the other end of the food wasn’t listening to the order and kept repeating the wrong order back. Finally after we confirmed that we wanted 30 chicken strips, he told us it would be ready very soon. Upon arrival, a girl had her head so far in her boyfriends lap I wasn’t sure whether to watch or walk away. The total came to $ 8.20. I thought holy wow, that’s extremely cheap. until I realized that chicken strips are actually chicken sticks. Therefore an emergency stop at Popeye’s was necessary before the final festivities.
I left a little disappointed but there are RAVE reviews for this place, so I will be back in the hopes that things will be better next time. Until then… don’t order the «chicken strips».

Oh sweet babies this place is amazing,
I got a number 26 – three pieces of chicken, fries, and a coke. I also got a cheesecake. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. My chicken was tender and juicy, and my fries were crunchy. The cheesecake was really smooth and creamy. I spent $ 10, which for a full meal isn’t bad. The guy who runs this place is pretty chill. And yes, there’s tons of street parking. Just don’t leave anything of value out in the open.

Delicious muslim style fry joint. My fish had this fragrant reddish mixture on the whiting fillet under the batter. Julienne fries were tasty. Combo came with a can of soda. All for 6 bucks. Good buy! I came back and asked the counter guy about the fish. The owner creates his own spice mixtures, marinates the food himself, and refuses to tell even his own employees the recipe. Even nicer! I’ll be back to try the fried chicken everyone there was raving about.
One thing– this is a carry out in a very shady neighborhood (course that’s real Baltimore for you). Don’t leave anything valuable exposed in your car. There’s broken glass around for a reason.
