Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation

I’ve been to so many beautiful weddings and christenings a here Parking is directly across the street. On street parking may be tough at times.

(11/​06/​2011) The ladies spend 2 months (!!) prepping the food, all made with love and care, and it shows, delicious! A culinary tour of Greece without leaving Baltimore. Don’t get distracted by the «festival» fare on the street level, head down the stairs to «Aphrodite’s Restaurant» in the basement of the church. The braised lamb shanks were the best thing there; tender, juicy, flavorful shank (ask for an extra spoon of the braising liquid). Spinach pies a close second to the best thing there; buttery, flaky, chock full with spinach and feta. Tables end up sticky with honey and sweets by the time you’re done, can’t choose a fave out of any of them. Baklava sundaes are dangerous (over-​the-​top calorie-​laden and filling-​loosening). This church has one of the best food festivals in Baltimore, it’s a must-​go.

This is probably one of the most beautiful churches of any kind in Baltimore. It has an unusual history, being that it has Byzantine architecture but was not built by the Greeks! It has a mixture of western stained glass and eastern wall painted icons (on the north wall there is a Resurrection Icon that is amazing!)
The services are of course, Orthodox — ! Greek and English, with great Greek chanting and the proper solemnity, joy and respect that church requires.
There are pews for those who are unaccustomed to standing all of the time, but those who prefer to do so will not be discouraged.
