Not that I expected any more in Baltimore, but the carne asada burritos aren’t what I had in San Diego. Good but not what I was hoping.

I went to Elvis for lunch, being in a mood for Mexican. It looked closed and on the storefront was a banner proclaiming a new restaurant at the location. I called and the robo voice told me the call could not be completed. RIP Elvis, I guess.

«Elvis’s Restaurant. How may I help you today?» I was worried. I’ve been eating at this place for over five years now and never once have they answered the phone with anything other than a heavily accented«Hello». Everyone who called Elvis for the first time thought they had the wrong number. I’d read in a local paper that Elvis had recently gone under new management and I was crossing my fingers that they didn’t change anything about the food. Let me just say that I should have reviewed this place years ago. This has been one of my go to spots since I stumbled across it when it first opened. It’s always been a treat: A little Mom & Pop spot making their homemade Salvadorean version of Mexican food and for cheap. While I’ve tried a lot of their food, I really only come here for one thing: The tacos. They’re amazing. I’ve yet to find a better taco in Baltimore or anywhere near it for that matter. 3 Chicken Tacos for $ 6.99 is a steal for the quality. They come with lettuce and cheese and wrapped in a homemade flour tortilla. The chicken is char-grilled and marinated and cooked perfectly… almost every time. The steak tacos(carne asada) are absolutely amazing as well. Packed with flavor. If I can’t decide what I want I’ll tell them to give me 2 steak and 1 chicken or vice versa and they’ll do it. I also like to add tomatoes and guacamole to the tacos. No problem. Guess how much they charge for that? $ 0.00. That’s beautiful, right? If you read other reviews on this place, you’ll see mostly 4 and 5 starts with a few low ones. I can say that from my experience(I’ve been a homeowner in Fed Hill since 2008 and seriously eaten here well over 100 times) this place is pretty consistent. There have been a few times when the food hasn’t turned out as amazing as it usually is, but it’s still pretty good. I don’t usually get the burritos, but I have friends that do. They make Chipotle look like chicken nuggets. They’re enormous. And no, contrary to what one reviewer said on this site: They don’t put peas and carrots on them… but maybe they did that one time. So back to the new management, and why I didn’t give it 5 stars: The hot sauce. They changed the recipe. For the past 5 years I’ve enjoyed the homemade, spicy, tangy sauce that I’ve always requested 3 of. One for each taco. This sauce doesn’t taste right. It’s almost like watered down generic salsa. I’m hoping it’s a fluke. The tacos were delicious though. It’s been a few months since I’ve been here. I’m hoping next time I go they’ll switch back to the original recipe! Quick Notes: Order the Chicken or Steak Tacos. They’re amazing! New management: Change back to your original homemade hot sauce so I can give you the 5 stars that I want you to have.

Good food, good portions, good eats. I came here on a humble after a visit to my fave Fed Hill happy hr. I was on my way to the Charm City Circulator when the thought popped into my head, I wish for Tex Mex… and there was Elvis! I popped in not expecting much but, after reading reviews on Unilocal’s app, I decided to give it a go. I purchased the Steak Tacos platter. Which comes with 3 ample sized tacos(corn tortillas available upon request), rice and beans. Typically I find the beans on these platters bland and lifeless but, Elvis had somehow made it delightful and not just a place holder in my food tray. The taco meat was savory and perfectly cooked. The portions were ample. I found myself full after a few spoons of rice and beans and 2 tacos. For my next visit per another review i’ll try the Carne asada as it comes with Salsa and does not need to be purchased for and additional charge. Happy Taco Tuesday :)

I took my wife here cause she used to live in California and talked about carne asada. She loved it in Cali and now loves the carne asada at Elvis! We have been here 3 or 4 times and I have to say I love the steak tacos. The soft tortilla shells are grilled just to give a very slight crunch. The meat, beans, rice and hot sauce are excellent! We always come back here for my wife’s craving for carne asada :-)

Brought my brother here while he was in town. We’re from Los Angeles so I’d been searching for good Mexican food in Baltimore ever since I moved. I had heard this place was good, AND that they a) also had Salvadorian food(pupusas!!) and b) served horchata. No pupusas, no horchata, my burrito sucked.

The chicken enchiladas are awesome and the rice and beans they come with are super tasty. I wish I could eat here every day without becoming obese and poor. Well, maybe not poor since it’s pretty cheap, but definitely obese. I love that it’s walking distance from my house and the service has always been fast. Mmmm now I’m hungry…

Pace picante sauce is NOTAUTHENTIC salsa! I mean really, you can’t make your own salsa?! The meat was NOT«amazing» unless you like cheap, chewy, pan fried, low-grade meat they call«carne asada.» The burrito was decent size — nothing compared to Mission St(San Fran) burritos. However, the size is deceptive given that it is stuffed with a lot of beans, rice, peas and carrots! Again, saaaay what?! Carrots and peas? I’m sorry, those two veggies do not belong in a burrito!

So good. I got home, sat down, and began looking for my burrito. I couldn’t find it, and then I realized that I had mistaken it for a sofa and was sitting on it. You tell me where else in Federal Hill a family of 4 ½ can eat for $ 20!

Loved their chicken tacos with melted cheese inside! You get 3 chicken tacos, and side of refried beans and rice. Theirs nothing like their salvadoran frijoles yummm!

Got the carne asada burrito with everything. Which is only rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, fried onions and steak. No salsa, no pico de gallo. Way too much beans and sour cream. Steak was alright. Nothing great. It was huge tho. But i’ll take quality over quantity. This place has no horchata or any homemade spanish drinks. I was dissapointed. Go to Pop Tacos couple blocks down inside cross street market. Way better tacos and burritos.

It sounds strange ordering from a Hispanic food place entitled«Elvis Restaurant.» When you enter, it may not be very busy which may make you hesitant to order. The restaurant does not have any ambiance, but do not be fooled! You cannot beat the prices and food here! When I order the fajitas, I know I will have dinner for the next two nights. They give you a full plate of well-seasoned chicken(not too spicy but still flavorful), peppers and onions. Then, on a whole other plate, you get your tortillas, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, refried beans(which are the best I’ve had since I went to El Salvador) and rice. The guacamole isn’t great, but everything else is fantastic! And you get all of that for $ 8!

I love Elvis! I’ve only had the chicken burritos, so I can’t attest to the other items. As for the burritos, they are enormous and cheap. I like that they come with guacamole(none of this $ 2 extra crap), fresh grilled chicken, rice and beans. I once went after an Orioles game and the place was mobbed. I once went before an Orioles game and the place was dead. The women that work there are super friendly. I’m not sure if these burritos are«authentic,» but I don’t care.

I romanticize hole-in-the-wall Mexican, especially if it ponies up seriously good food cheap. The bathroom may not be pristine, but if the food and atmosphere are right, I can overlook just about anything. My parents’ go-to date night restaurant is a hole in the wall Mexican place in Detroit, and so I’ve grown up believing that it’s what every couple needs. Elvis is a hole-in-the-wall. The menu, which must have been stickered onto the sign, doesn’t offer extravagant items like the neighbor, Blue Agave. It offers quesadillas, tacos, burritos, and different asado dishes. It isn’t pretty; the floor is simple tile, the tables are pretty cheap and covered in cheap tablecloths, but don’t be thrown off by its appearance. The food comes out quickly, and it’s good. Like, hit-the-spot good. The people that run it are polite. And, it hits that right combination of hole-in-the-wall with quality – you know you’re not getting shit-grade meat when you order here, even if it is served on plastic trays. Don’t worry, you’re not going to get food poisoning from this place. You’ll probably return. Bonus points – they were definitely waiting for my date and I to leave before they closed, and they let us talk and talk and talk – didn’t even attempt to kick us out. It wasn’t until we got into the car two minutes later that we noticed the lights were out and they were gone. Now that is service.

This place is Great. There is a reason me and my roommates eat here atleast once if not 3 times a week. For a very reasonable price you can get an excellent meal. The Steak Tacos are too DIE for. The Chicken Tacos are good as well, but the steak tacos are by far the best thing on the menu. They are not stingy with the meat either. They do not come with tomatoes but if you ask for some they happily will add them to your tacos. The steak and chicken are prepared really well, lots of flavor. I highly recommend a visit here. The burritos are huge as well if you’re into that but i’m more about the tacos. You will NOT need to take a dump like 5 minutes after eating here like other Mexican restaurants might cause you to. But be warned, DONOT Order the ground beef tacos. They suck. That might be the one cheap meat that they DO serve at this place… but the chicken and steak are quality, i would stick to them.

Missing accessible Mexican food in Baltimore after years in Arizona, I visited Elvis to fulfill my cravings. The taste wasn’t the same as Arizona Mexican food, but I was pleasantly surprised. The meat at Elvis is fresh and flavorful. No ‘mystery meat’ here. Try the HUGE Carne Asada burritos! The steak meat in the Carne Asada burrito is flavored quite nicely and the burrito comes with a large portion of meat. The portion of chicken nachos is also large and comes with grilled chicken. They seemed to have 5 dollar chicken taco and beef taco deals. I am definitely coming back!

I’ve eaten here 3 times now and the food is fantastic and cheap. My favorite is the steak burrito($ 6.95) which is possibly one of the biggest burritos I’ve ever seen. It’s got steak, guacamole, beans, rice and sour cream. It’s easily enough for 2 meals. My brother got one of the quesadillas which was about 2 inches thick and looked pretty tasty. They also have an array of mexican soft drinks. The dining room is pretty simple but clean. The service is extremely friendly and the food comes out very fast. Elvis is quickly becoming my favorite place for Mexican food in Baltimore due to the quality, taste, and price. Hopefully more people catch onto this place before it’s too late.

I’ll keep it short for now: Really good«authentic» tacos are few and far between in this city. Elvis has dang good beef tacos for dang cheap(cheaper than Tortilleria Sinaloa). Also of note: fresh tamarindo and horchata. GETINONITBEFORETHISTOODISAPPEARS!
