Pretty decent beer selection, pretzel was good, potato pancake was weird but passable. The jagersnitzel was pretty awful, wouldn’t let this deter you from coming… Just don’t get the jagersnitzel. Happy hour 4 dollar half liters are pretty great.

I only give five star and one star reviews. Basically, to get a five star you have to love your business, love your customers, and love yourself. This establishment oozes love from the beer menu which features REAL Hoffbrau German beer on tap with HUGE liter mugs for $ 7 at happy hour 4 – 7 every day. When I say REAL Hoffbrau I mean actually from Germany not cheap Canadian substitute beer. This is not a small thing. They show love on the authentic German menu. Try Beer Braised Brisket or Eggplant and Portobello Schnitzel. Maple Mustard pork loin. German Burgers!!! This is top level foodie heaven! I’m a vegan and they are as good as the best vegan only restaurants. Quality and love in food. We met the owners who are there and present at the bar. They trained in Germany. Beer Boots on the wall. If you want to compete there is a competition going so bring your game. Safe neighborhood. Über here and back though and be safe. This is a destination bar as well as a hop so bring hunger and thirst. They have 30 homemade sauces from Dill Sour Cream to Lemon Caper Aioli to BEERCHEESE classic. Best I’ve ever tasted. Order a bowl. Forget nacho cheese. Did I mention They have 30 dipping sauces for fresh happy hour pretzels at $ 5. Try the potato pancakes and sausages. Come home to German gourmet heaven. Home made food in a bar atmosphere which is unheard of and the finest beer. Value for dollar is maximum for the entire city of Baltimore. The best happy hour in the city and the best owners.

Definitely my go to place for great German beer and drinks. Servers are fantastic and they serve some of the best draft beers of any bar I’ve been to. Food is also amazing. Sausages are amazing and the pretzels. Just yum. Amazing place to drink great beers, eat great food, and hang out!

This place was packed and I had to sit in the way of travel, but the atmosphere was really fun and friendly so I got over it. The beer list was great, lots of German beers. They have $ 2 Devil’s Backbone bottles which is a steal. I order a giant pretzel which comes with two dipping choices from a large list of options, the pretzel was big but there’s another size up I should have got. My husband got the eggplant & portabella schnitzel, really good, eggplant was a little dry, no big deal, the egg noodles were yummy. The other members of our party were pleased with their orders as well. We would definitely come back, mostly because we didn’t know we could have ordered beer boots until we were on the way out.

So much fun going on here. The Munich beer garden style is here within a Baltimore sports pub. The beer list is certainly Bavarian. The fantastic Hefeweizen Koenig Ludwig, has been available on all four of my visits. The kitchen does a great job. Authentic sausages are fantastic! Service is great even when the place is busy. Great place to begin or end an Orioles game. Only hassle, server will ask to hold your credit card. I think management should do away with this.

Great fun! Great Beer! Fabulous staff. We were in town for a show at Royal Farms arena and decided to check out Das Bier Haus for a good meal and some bier! Very close to authentic! Prices were great and I would definitely hang out here again!

I’d put Das Bier Haus much in the same category as I would the majority of «Irish pubs» in Baltimore– there’s a sufficient slate of ethnic foods offered, and instead of Guinness, Harp, etc. they have a solid selection of German style brews(plus other options including some crafts). And they of course have the trademark glassware and some long bench seating to inspire socializing. But the feel of the place is just run-of-the-mill Fed Hill-Canton-Fells-Brewer’s Hill-fill in the blank Baltimore bar. No lederhosen here, thank you very much/little! I don’t take much joy in dropping a poor rating, but admit I was even considering going with two stars. First the service was a mess, even though my gal and I visited on an early week weeknight and they weren’t particularly crowded. It started well enough, as the first guy that came to our table was friendly and knowledgeable, and got to us quickly. But it was downhill from there. Das Bier Haus uses an «all staff helps serve everybody» approach to waiting the tables, which is something I actually like a lot when it work well. But it was rather dysfunctional here. There were long service gaps at times, while at other times a staffer would stop by right after another had left. It really elongated the dining experience, and left us high and dry too often. As for the food, we started with the potato pancakes and the mac & cheese. I’m used to rather thin, crispy, and somewhat oniony potato pancakes, and didn’t care for the thick, rather bland ones we had here. The mac and cheese was okay, and both appetizers were quite large. For mains I went with the jagerschnitzel and she opted for the braised beef brisket. I liked hers more than mine, though both were just okay overall. The«mustard mashed potatoes» that came with our dishes were very dry, boring, and in serious need of some good gravy. As a side note, I was surprised to see the sandwiches come with that famous German delicacy called«house cut french fries»! No German potato salad? REALLY?! A disappointing experience overall, particularly given the strong Unilocal ratings to date. Perhaps will give it another try in the future, in which case I’d likely try some of the sausages, but then again Snake Hill over on my side o’ the drink does sausages quite well.

Great food, great atmosphere, reasonably priced. It is a loud and bustling semi communal beer hall style place so if loud chatter isn’t your thing this might not be your spot. However, the energy is high, the beer is cheap, and something about those massive liter glasses just sets the night up for anything. The pretzel(large, $ 6) was huge and crazy delicious and the two sauces it came with– beer mustard and beer cheese– competed for which one I liked better. If those aren’t your thing they’ve got a couple other dozen to choose from. I can’t imagine what the bigger king size pretzel looks like. I also had a kale Caesar that was a nice size portion for the price point($ 7, I think), and delicious. I want to go back for the sausages or entrees which looked good. As I took a stroll around deliberately checking out everyone’s food I didn’t notice one single item that didn’t make me salivate. This would be a great place for a large group to settle in and get after it.

Not quite a beer garden, and not quite a sports bar, Das Bier Haus is the new kid on the block that appeals to just about every type of clientele, with their ample amounts of German beer and German pub fare, and a very lively atmosphere. This place definitely trends toward the bro-y side, which can be a bad and good thing, depending on what you’re looking for. I sort of liked the upbeat vibe, and it made for a very interesting dinner and drinking experience. I highly recommend NOT coming here on the weekend if you’re just looking for a quiet evening of sausage and sauerkraut, heh. Per usual with German beer bars, they have a vast array of encased meats in tube form, fried breaded pork, as well as soft pretzels the size of your head, accompanied by a wide selection of dipping sauces. We shared a couple pretzels and I got the crab mac and cheese, which much more on the creamy side than cheesy. The pretzel was very filling, and the horseradish sauce that was ordered with it was pretty bomb. I also managed to try the eggplant and Portobello mushroom schnitzel, which had good texture, but was essentially flavorless, so probably wouldn’t ever order it myself. We also ended up getting Das Boot, which was quite difficult to overcome, even for the 6 of us. We played by the rules, meaning you can’t place the boot on the table until it’s finished, you have to flick the boot before passing it on, you have to point the boot away from you, and you have to make sure it doesn’t splash on you or else you have to drink again. Have to. Ha. Anyways, remember to turn the boot when you hit the toe bubble! Some people frown at this, but this tip from Beer Fest is very helpful if you don’t want beer on your clothes. Service was very spotty, given how busy it was on a Saturday night, but I was sort of impressed by how our waitress managed to get our order down(for a party of six) without missing anything. Wait, no, that’s not a good thing, write it down next time, because it only takes like a second. Prices were decent for the portions of food and for beer, the half-liter and liters of beer at around $ 7/$ 11 respectively, and the 2L Boots at $ 20 and $ 3L Boot at $ 27. Regardless of all the hiccups, I did have a really fun time, but I think to really maximize your fun quotient, you really have to be in the right state of mind and mentally prepare for the chaos that is Das Bier Haus. I can see myself coming back when I’m looking for an aggressive night in Fed Hill, or if I just really want some beer and German sausage. Phrasing?

Super fun place for a group of close friends or meeting some strangers! There is no host/hostess so you’re on your own to squeeze onto a long bench or to wait around for space to open, but it is very inviting and the bartenders are super helpful. Nice beer list for a good deal — you can get with half liter or full ones if you want a long fun night! The food is decent, traditional and German, but they do a good job with it and the fries are super good. I would probably get a pretzel next time since it looked good on other people’s plates. Great new addition to fed!

I want to start with the good. The ambiance of the bar is on point. Lighting and décor is perfect(feels like a German beer bar). The beer is reasonably priced and the selection is good. The music was a great mix of songs perfect for drinking beer. Unfortunately the bad turned me off despite my best efforts to enjoy it. First impression started at the door with the bouncer grunting«Gimme doze ID’s». I know he’s probably just contracted out and has to deal with drunks later in the night, but many people are walking in here for the first time ever! I don’t see whats wrong with«ID’s please» or something of the sort when greeting patrons. It’s a beer bar, not Stalking Horse at 1am… We walked into a way overcrowded bar. I mean, other German beer halls I’ve been in are crowded, but there was basically no room to move(let alone hold a large stein!). The wait for a drink was about 10 minutes and we only stayed because we were wedged in and leaving was probably more difficult at that point. Bartenders weren’t the best at fielding drink orders from people, but we did get our drinks and closed out our tabs quickly once we finally put our order in. Food was meh. I mean, it’s not hard to do a good pretzel. Mine was under cooked after a long wait. Two minor things that could be tweaked fairly easily but go a long way. The beer could be a little colder although I’ll chalk that up to the possibility of a new keg being put on recently since there were so many people in there; and the music was too loud to hear anything at all. Though once again, it may have been that loud so that it could be heard over the huge amount of people in there. Sum it up: Pros Cool atmosphere with A LOT of potential. Good beer selection at reasonable prices and music. Cons Staff could be nicer/more attentive Food could be improved TOOMANYPEOPLE in the tiny space.

Read the menu and walked here from Ridgely’s Delight. Did I mention it was Tuesday after #Snowzilla? Oh, and that the place was packed? And that the food was amazing?! Totally worth our 30-minute trek in snow-slush. Try the Meatloaf, the jäegerschnitzel, the king size delicious fluffy oh my god pretzel with dipping sauces, and Das Boot of Müchen Hefeweizen. The bartenders are super sweet and so hard working. You have got to try this place!

We’ve been here a few times since its been open because they’re so close. It’s a great place to go with friends and drink some great German beer! It’s been pretty crowded the past few weekends which is great but sometimes you can’t move. I’ve eaten there twice. Both times getting a pretzel. The first time we got the king which was huge and beer cheese, Nacho cheese, and horseradish sour cream. My favorite was the beer cheese, the nacho cheese was too think and hard to dip. We also got the poutine app which was really good! The fries were skinny hand cut ones. The last time we went I shared a pretzel and the brisket entrée(substituted cabbage for fries). We also got the beer cheese with the pretzel and this time it was cold and too think to enjoy. The brisket was really tender and flavorful, however extremely fatty. I wasn’t a fan of the mashed potatoes… I think they had a mustard aftertaste. I wasn’t as big of a fan of the fries today either… They were really dark which makes me thinks that they need to change the oil. However we did go right when they opened today I’m sure they’re still figuring things out! Overall great place to go and drink and have a great time, don’t fort to order a boot!
