I have been going to SJ Cigars for great cigars since the mid-90’s at their flagship store on 3rd& South street. Nowadays I shop at the Main Line location on Montgomery Ave store mainly because of the parking authority in Center City Philadelphia where they can ticket you into the poorhouse. I really like this location because they carry great premium cigars and they have some fantastic choices for the budget minded smoker.(I can’t always drop $ 10 bucks for a cigar) They just renovated the store and installed a comfortable and cozy smoking lounge complete with a big screen TV, coffee and beverages and lots of comfortable seating. I recently spent some time there and I enjoy the cigar selection and the conversation with the other cigar smokers that were there. There was lots of interesting guys there from all walks of life. Another great thing about this location is there are many good places to eat nearby. I enjoyed a nice cigar and walked a couple of doors down and had a great corned beef sandwich, hard to top that! Upon entering SJ Cigars, you are greeted by Ron, a very nice guy with a great white moustache and a clean shaven head. Ron has great knowledge of his stock and if you need help choosing a good cigar he’s the man for the job. He also goes out of his way to make you feel at home. So give them a try and if you have a open mind, you might save some dough. I also want to thank Yani, the owner for adding on the smoking lounge.

Not bad but not great. They have WAYTOOMANY Cuban Stock cigars here, almost 40% of the humidor. NO Rocky Patels either which is pretty odd. They had some Opus X number 4’s for $ 14 which were $ 4 overpriced — its a $ 10 at most smoke. I do kind of agree with the statement about the guy working there maybe being condescending. I asked him if they had Magna’s and he gave me this look like«ew, no I don’t have those». Sorry bro, I like them. He also thought he would tell me what the«best» cigar was that I bought. Really? Um, cigars, just like everything else, are relative. I’ll decide which one is the best.

It’s the only place I buy cigars! The guy that works there is funny and not pushy like some other stores. He does great comparisons and lets you decide which is good! So if you go see the bald guy, he is always honest.

I go to this location because it’s conviently located for me. That being said the bald guy who seems to be the sole employee at this location is unhelpful, sullen and condescending. I would go to the Rock Hill Rd location however their selection is much smaller. Go here if you know what you want, if you’re expecting help from someone knowledgeable and personable go elsewhere.

Selection is fine but the atmosphere is terrible. It’s not set up to relax and enjoy a smoke without being bothered.

I have bought all types of stuff here. They taught me how to make cigarettes using tubes and American Spirit tobacco. They have supplied me my pipe tobacco for 2 years, which is top notch. The people I meet in there are very nice. The humidor is HUGE!!! There is a place for you to smoke your cigars inside. I even bought a hooka pipe there and was shown how to use it with molasses cherry tobacco. If you love tobacco products, you will love SJ Cigars… I do.
