Visit/stop was On Sunday, November 15, 2015 This spot was awesome to stop. You can find the store and right across you see a gas station, all you need if you are driving back from Sequoia National Park, as hubby and I were. Grab a healthy snack for the road trip or for cooking. they have it all even an antique store. Pretty cool to distract yourself for a few. The best part during a road trip… a restroom! thank you!

Need a snack, a healthy snack? Stop here, exercise your legs and grab yourself some fresh from the farm produce. Can’t say the prices are any better than your farmers market or even your local grocery store, but I can say you can stock up on nuts and fruit for your drive to/from your destination. Something about pulling off the highway and stuffing your face with grapes or strawberries… nuts(all kinds), dried fruit too. Yes, they have all the sugar laden candies and a very good selection of Blue Bunny ice cream options. I admit, sometimes I opt for my fav chocolate caramel cashew vanilla ice cream bar instead of the healthy stuff… sometimes a girl has got to do what a girl has to do. You can browse the little antique section and peruse the numerous sauces, honey and condiments too. Good place to stop for a stretch.

My mom’s favorite fruit stand, The Patch is a natural stopping point between Frazier Park and Bakersfield. They offer local produce in season, reasonably priced, and of good quality. Today, we got cantaloupe, tomatoes, and oranges. The Patch is also a great place to pick up nuts, seeds, honey and dried fruit. Healthier than a gas station food shop that’s for sure! If it’s hot, there’s shaved ice and bottled water, too. They have«antiques» to poke through if that’s your thing. Fresh produce, though… that’s the way to go at the Patch. I once bought a gigantic box of oranges for $ 7. Friendly service. Park right in front.

Cool spot to stop for some fruit, veg and a bit of antiquing. The store has a few imports from Mexico too, IE Garden items. There is a small area with kids’ used toys on display and a big box of old paperback romance novels. No greeting upon arrival but if you speak to the lone woman manning the cash, she seems friendly enough. There was no one else there at all on a nice Saturday afternoon. In the other store section there is a variety of bagged nuts, candy and my weakness, local honey. I wish the produce had more selection but the oranges looked good and we left with a bag of small avocados for $ 2. Not bad. I left with some orange honey but I also saw clover and avocado. If the honey is a hit, we will be back for more of that and to see if they get stone fruit once the season changes. It is a quick stop right off the highway, you cannot miss the signs.

I like this place. They have some interesting produce and lots of weird knick-knacks. Plus, there’s the usual array of odd canned goods. What stops this from being a five-star experience is the indifference of the people who work there. They should be friendly, outgoing, and engaging.

There was some decent fruit,(I don’t mean the whackos you might run at places like Mardi Gras in Nawlins or other cities on Halloween.) No, in the last week of June, there were some pretty tasty Santa Rosa plums, Navel oranges, watermelons, cantaloupes, various vegetables, dried fruit, sodas, ice cream bars, etc. For me, though, it was just OK. I was hoping there was a greater variety of stuff or they’d be price cheaper than the $ 2.50 a pound for my plums and $ 5 for a bag of navel oranges. There was some over ripe fruit for $ 1 a basket, but unless you have animals such as rabbits that like fruit, they weren’t consumable for normal people. Anyway, it is a nice stop before you get to the grapevine. What it made me realize, though, was that the people who drive from Fresno to the Farmer’s Markets all over So. CAL with better fruit and the same prices are as sweet as the White nectarines they sell for the same price as this fruit stand.

Need a quick fruit fix or some salty processed food-like snack before you head up the 5 in to Gorman? Look no further cause its all here at Patch’s fruit stand! Actually we just got some dried chili/lime dried papaya snakes & some bottled waters. But the people working it are nice and are especially nice to kids AWWWWWWE. Recommeded!

The employees were friendly, the fruit was decently priced, the restrooms were clean(not many more stops before the Grapevine!) and the antiques were interesting.

Its a nice fruit stand between Bakersfield and the Grape vine. Along with fresh produce there is a wide variety of dried fruit, gourmet olives, snow cones and a fun selection of antiques. A nice laid back place to stretch your legs within a barren stretch along the 99 freeway.
