Tried this place based on Unilocal reviews alone. And I’m glad we did! Sign on the front door advertises Harris ranch beef and I was not disappointed. Asada was juicy and flavorful. Shrimp taco was great too. Small warning for those that think the Asada fries are an «extra», they are the size of a small boat! Share with friends… and maybe the couple at the table next to you. Store was very clean and food was great, thanks Unilocalers for making this a standout.

The service was fine, the food was low quality taco truck style, but tasty. I would have rather gone to a taco truck though.

finally had a chance to check out Dos Tacos. I was greeted and the atmosphere was nice. The cashier was super sweet and the cook was great as well. We ordered a carne asada torta, carne asada fries, and a shrimp taco. the shrimp taco was delicious ! I will return for the tacos. The carne asada meat was tender and tasted like it had just got off of the grill. The fries had to much nachos cheese and not as much meat as I wished. Next time I will asked for less cheese and more meat. The torta was good however had to much salsa, so ask for little salsa or on the side. definitely will return !

Torta de asada was good. But where can you go wrong with a torta? The meat was perfect. Crispy and just right. Not like other place where the meat is all chewy. Will be coming back :)

Tried this place for the first time, definitely won’t be my last! I’ve been on the hunt for good tacos for a long time and finally found them! The meat is quality Harris ranch beef and flavored perfectly. The tacos had a nice amount of beef, onions, Cilantro, and salsa; typical mexican taco, but they bumped it up with a generous glob of guacamole which really hit the spot! Had to get an elote which is a corn on the cob with Mayo, cheese, and chili powder. It was a little heavy on the cheese but overall a good eat! Last thing I ordered was the asada nachos. I was not prepared for how large these were going to be. They were packed with nacho cheese, beans, Carne asada, Pico de galo, Avacodo salsa, Sour cream, and jalapeño. Very clean place and great service! It’s a little small inside but they made it work.

I ordered the carne asada burrito here and it was really good. It already had just the right amount of spiciness to it. No complaints about the burrito. The quesadilla, however, was underwhelming. It’s $ 1.75 and an extra $ 1 to add meat so I ordered the carne asada quesadilla and the size was as small as a single taco. The taste was fine but I couldn’t get over how tiny it was. I’d definitely come back for the burritos.

Every now and again I find myself in a 4-star rated restuarant that I can’t seem to understand is 4 stars. Dos Tacos does one thing — its tacos. But even then, the taqueria-sized tacos failed to impress me with the anemic guac and run of the mill meat. The salsa didn’t taste like anything special. I think I could buy better at the supermarket. I just didn’t feel like I was in an awesome Mexican restaurant but just another cookie cutter taco shop akin to the recent surge of sushi places. I mean let’s be honest: The Hispanic/Latino population is rising in Bakersfield, and with that, we are going to see an influx of these types of restaurants. In effect, the market will respond with the weakest being cut from the bottom, and the strongest rising from the top. Dos Tacos is definitely lower, middle tier. The Dos Nachos perform a cardinal sin: Round, corn tortilla chips. I just got to say, if you use round, corn tortilla chips, I just lose complete confidence in your product — especially when it’s combined with canned nacho cheese and jarred pickled jalapenos. Round, corn tortilla chips are just terrible: Bland, tasteless, gringo-friendly. To me, good junk food like nachos can only have one generic ingredient in it. But three in one dish? No me gusta. Now on to the elote which is an insult: More mayo than corn. I just couldn’t bring myself to eat any more of it. Four bites — even ‘con limon’ — was my limit. It just didn’t taste like anything; I think if Costco sold microwave-at-home elote, this is what it would taste like. Bulk-produced, generic, minimal flavor at minimized costs. No bueno. The alley dog, which is like a white-person-friendly«LA/dirty dog,» was surprisingly good. Great mix of hotdog and bacon and cheese. I actually enjoyed it more than the tacos. So Dos Tacos, gets tres stars.

This place is a little hidden away from the Main Street so you have to look for it. I had the Asada tacos the first time and they were beyond delicious. The meat was so well marinated and hardly any half. I had the Asada fries the second time which tasted fantastic. Their facility is super clean as well and the customer service was great!

I’d like to start off with saying the service was excellent! From the girl at cashier to the cook to the lady who brought me my to go order, it was great. The food on the other hand just wasn’t my thing. The alley dog was okay, I was expecting something a little more original I guess you could say. The asada fries were presentable but my asada was too burnt and while eating the dog and fries together the fries got soggy after a while. I’ve been dying to stop by here since they open since I drive by everyday when I’m on my way to the freeway, I may give it another shot but the corn man rides by my house everyday and la villa isn’t too far from here with a drive through. We’ll see.

While driving through Bakersfield during a road trip, we were persuaded by the outstanding reviews to give Dos Tacos a try for lunch. Great decision! The food was incredible and so very satisfying. My husband had a chicken torta and can’t stop raving about it. I was so pleased with the chicken and shrimp tacos. Yummy! We don’t normally get dessert at lunch but we gladly succumbed to the temptation of the delicious churros. Sure wished we lived closer, we’d be back every week! Thanks, Dos Tacos!

We live in a town utterly loaded with«Mexican» dining options that run the spectrum when it comes to price, authenticity and quality. Being a lifelong frequent consumer of said cuisine, I frequently find myself facing an intense craving for tacos that could easily be quelled at any number of reliable taco spots. However, we iften find that we’d like to explore new options and expand our ever growing portfolio of favorites. Today was one of those days … I will not question the usefulness of Unilocal in general, but I will question how reliable the«star rating» may be sometimes. For example, Dos Tacos had a 4.5 star rating, a few somewhat unique menu items and was surrounded by numerous proven back-up options just in case we set foot inside and decided to bail, so we gave it a try. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what warrants such a high rating in this case. Our party of four ordered Carne Asada tacos, Elote, Asada Torta, the bacon wrapped hot dog and Asada Fries. First off, at $ 2, the Asada Street Tacos are pushing the upper limits of price for a street type taco. When you couple that with the overall taste and quality of the taco these are definitely not worth $ 2. True, some might assign value to the fact that each taco comes with a blob of guacamole, but in my mind a blob of mediocre guacamole on top of my street taco is not a plus. Also, the asada’s marinade/seasoning renders a bit of a strange aftertaste which is not particularly good coupled with the overdone dryed-out texture of the beef. Next, the $ 6.95 Carne Asada fries are essentially frozen crinkle cut fries drowning in canned«nacho style» cheese with some of the aforementioned Carne Asada along with Pico de Gallo and some pickled jalapeños … was fairly blah but bordered on disgusting the further you got into it. The Elote was ok, but ranked toward the bottom compared to every other Elote I’d ever had … nothing remarkable at all, except for the fact that it was on the menu. There really aren’t that many brick and mortar places that serve something so associated with street food. With that said, if it were me, I’d want to make sure it was pretty special, because if a random guy pushing a shopping cart selling Elote can put your restaurant to shame, perhaps you should reconsider what you’re trying to achieve. Next, the Torta … mayonnaise overload. We are not the type that doesn’t like mayonaise, just not in quantities usually reserved for an entire batch macaroni salad. This Torta must have had ½ cup of mayonaise. The bacon wrapped hot dog was ok, but again didn’t rank with any of the better similar dishes I’d had elsewhere many times before. The dog was essentially piled high with some cold generic two cheese type shredded cheese along with rough chopped onion. Also, the 4 spot tables are miserably small and really can’t accommodate 4 average adults. The salsa bar offers only lime, no lemon, and salsa cups that are so small they could double as a thimble. Considering the fundamental shortfalls with the food and accommodations I don’t think I’ll even discuss the location and rather large population of vagrants living in the parking lot and along the freeway. It is a huge societal problem, no doubt, but if you’re a restaurateur and choose a location that forces your customers to wade through it to get a freaking taco … you had better make it worth their while. Honestly, I feel that someone has spent some time and money trying to come up with something good here, but have really fallen short in execution. I would’ve liked nothing more than to have had a 4.5 star experience and another«go to» place, but at this point we won’t be back. Hopefully, someone at this place looks past whatever hype is fueling this 4.5 star farce and takes serious stock of what they’re trying to do here before it’s too late.

We’ve been here several times and it has yet to disappoint. I wanted to update my review and give it 5 stars because the owner listens and executes! My last review stated that they had poor choice in music for a family atmosphere. The owner commented that they are working on changing the music and they did! I am so pleased! Thank you so much for listening to your customers. You have my continued business!

Came here as a pit stop for dinner on a 3.5 hour drive. I ordered 3 asada tacos and the carne asada fries. I also tried some of my friend’s churros. The churros were good but not exceptional and definitely way overpriced.($ 6 for 4 or something? And they were about 5 inches each) Asada tacos: honestly, no significant impression. I was really hungry at the time so it was pretty good but I love LA/SD tacos so it wasn’t very impressive but then again, it was expected. Decent! Carne asada fries: not my fav. The crinkle cut fries are really thick and potato-y, not crispy at all. They used nacho cheese and way too much at that, after I ate about half, it was basically just 50% liquid cheese and 50% everything else left. But ya nacho cheese in asada fries are a no-go. Not a lot of meat in it, an okay amout of salsa/guac/sour cream.

It’s like LA Mexican street food just hit Bakersfield guys! I love this place everything is good here. Since the elote man doesn’t come by my house like back in LA I can come here to meet those cravings .!

Ok, so have you ever had that Caucasian friend who swears how bomb his mom’s taco night is. Eventually you sneak your way into his taco night and then you realize that it’s just a glob of store bought guacamole on store bought overly marinated Carne Asad. This place is like that kind of taco. The tacos are 2 $ each and I didn’t mind paying that as I figured they would be healthy sized; however, these tacos are like fun size or bite size tacos. The salsa is fairly bland. For the taco night folks I think you will probably like this place. For the rest of us there are always the old go to joints like Huichos. Likely won’t be back.

This feels like déjà vu. I swear I’ve been here before, only I was eating schwarma and pita’s… These days, the pita has given way to tortillas, yielding delicious tacos and various modernized street foods. Not a taco fan(for shame!) there’s bacon wrapped hot dogs, torta’s, elote, and more. No longer do you have to chase down the Elote man in East Bako for some scrumptious corn on a stick. No need to wait until 2am for the bacon wrapped hot dog cart to come lumbering down the alley. Everything is right here in broad day light — and in a mighty clean restaurant I might add. The elote was delicious and unique. It could have use a pinch more salt, but then again I’m a salt-fiend(Lawry’s Seasoned Salt’s #1 fan right here!). The bacon wrapped hot dogs were delish and packed with perfectly grilled onions and jalapenos. Don’t have you hooked yet? There’s even a Horchata, Orange Bang, and Pineapple Bang fountain. *insert Heavenly music* Elote and some Pina bang? That sounds like a five star date night to me!

I liked that they were able to customize my order(add shredded cheese and guacamole to the Asada burrito and grill the burrito). The burrito was delicious although the tortilla crumbled apart while eating it. 3 different staff asked me how I liked it. Friendly, quick service with a smile. I would love the option to pay more for grass-fed beef! That would be beyond awesome.
