One of the first things my wife and I wanted to do after buying our home three years ago was have customer shutters installed throughout the home. We had a few quotes done and Danmer was the most expensive. However we also had a couple good recommendations from people we know. When the sales team came buy they provided me with their different options for material, color, trim types and such. Since I was placing such a large order(basically every window in my house and many were large windows) I tried to negotiate the best price for their Thermalite product. They are basically synthetic material but is very durable, won’t warp with the sun and is an awesome insulator. They try to sell you hard on the how much it saves in energy costs and I was skeptical. I wasn’t able to get the price down too much but I was able to get one large window done for free. That saved me around $ 800. From the ordering process to installation took about 30 days as they are custom made to your particular windows. Your windows are measured and then the shutters are built in their factory in Van Nuys. Two guys from Danmer did the installation in about 6 hours and made sure I was happy before leaving. I called back a few days later when I noticed a gouge in one of the panels. They came back a few weeks later with a new panel and replaced it. They also left me with some extra touch up paint in case I needed it. However, the shutters are guaranteed for life and the paint for 10 years. We are very happy with the purchase and it has actually saved us money on our energy bills(especially in the summer time). Our electric bills have dropped around $ 200 a month in the very hot summer months. The shutters really do dress up your home as well. The negative is they are soooo expensive. We spent over 8K on 11 windows. Two of which were very large and required 6 panels per window. We may have gotten equally good looking shutters from somewhere else for cheaper but the benefits of the extra insulation provided with these shutters was a feature my wife really wanted. They also have a great warranty. If you’re looking for a quality product which excellent customer service and willing to pay to get it, Danmer is a good option.
