The Boat House

Well, I’m sad. I’m very sad. It’s so beautiful here in Lynwood. The Boat House is in a cool location, it’s next door to my favorite wine bar, Suzanne Maurice. The interior is really nice. It looks so nice… WTF?!
The oatmeal was gummy and not hot. It was body temperature. My sister wasn’t surprised because this always happens to her. She said the toppings were good. How can you miss with pumpkin seeds and cranberries? My waffle wasn’t very good but what the hell, the bakery stuff looked good.
The coffee was fine, the view is nice and they were trying so I’ll give them another try next time I’m around.
Still, it’s a nice room. I’m sure the espresso is fine and it would be nice to sit around here with some tea (HAH-​not the drip coffee) and look out the window. I’m grumpy. I’m hungry…
It doesn’t help that the Sea Hawks are losing…

My wife and I went to find the boat house today, because the reviews were good for coffee. It’s no longer call the boat house. Inside it says the boathouse is now the marketplace. It seems like its just been sold turnkey, not just redone. Any ways, neither the macchiato nor the cold brew were any good. Unfortunately, it seems that they must have restaffed as well, and that the coffee talent in the previous reviews must have been something that went away with the boat house. I hope they can get there coffee offerings more figured out. It’s kind of a shame for them to have such an investment in equipment, but drop the ball on skill.

Great staff, excellent service and they know how to make a decent latte. Indoor and outdoor seating options — great atmosphere with outdoor seating during summer months. Free wifi service works well and there is ample seating. Great place to work online or just surf.

I love this place. The staff is super friendly, not rushed or stressed — they give you the time of day and they make a totally awesome cup of coffee.
My usual drink is a Dopio or an Americano, so I can’t speak to the other reviewer’s comment that drinks are too sweet (why would someone ruin a perfectly good espresso with a bunch of high fructose corn syrup anyway??), but their espresso pour is textbook perfect. Crema is there in spades, drinks are hot and delicious. Totally pro.
I also love the space. Free WiFi, nice big long tables to sit and work, quiet, really nice feeling space.
Go there. Let’s keep this place in business.

The staff here is fantastic! The coffee not so much. If you like overly sweet drinks you might like it. I couldn’t even taste the coffee over the amount of syrup they use. The space is clean with nice décor. The coffee needs some work.

I am always in search of a macchiato. So often botched, not here. Lucky to join and be a customer of a fine destination for the caffeine addicted. Joins with other great food destinations.
