This place had such delicious food(I shared the Artichoke sandwich and No Name salad with my sister). It wasn’t a long wait for food and was well priced. Also, the location was so nice — you’re surrounded by plants and the sounds of chirping birds… very idyllic and nature-y! Definitely my new favorite restaurant on Bainbridge Island.

What a wonderful funky place off the beaten path. We had peanut curry squash soup and a turkey avocado sandwich that was run through a wood fired oven. It’s a little piece of heaven!

I go out of my way to eat at this small outdoor/indoor eatery especially for lunch on a sunny day but have even cuddled up indoors close to the heater a few times. It is in a beautiful setting inside all the plants at the Bainbridge Gardens nursery. It’s interesting to read the previous reviews since they are either 5 star or 1 — 2 star(mostly due to the slow service, dirty but also due to supposedly rudeness of the manager). I go 5– star because I go here for the incredibly fresh ingredients and great menu including the salads(the Noname salad with just the right mix of greens, cheese, strawberries, walnuts, dressing, etc.), great sandwiches, soups, etc. The coffee is not the best but they have great smoothies and teas. They us a wood fired oven for their pizzas! So I don’t really care if the manager doesn’t greet me with a super nice smile, how is your day, etc. because the food is the most important to me. And I know that good food takes time to make and if I had to wait more than 15 minutes(happened maybe on or two times) I actually know how to inquire and find out how much longer and have always received an accurate answer. If waiting is a problem for you, just ask up front and make it clear that you are in hurry and will leave if not done on time. I have done that in even the fanciest places, no big deal. If I want to get crappy food really fast I know where McDonalds is on BI! As to dirtyness I have never found the place dirty other than the normal dust flying around from the outdoor setting and maybe the occasional previous guest not leaving the table super clean. I just grab a napkin and wipe the table myself but actually have to do this more often on the BI ferry that is supposed to be a clean place. The furniture is outdated but actually I like that since it again puts the emphasize on the food and I know they don’t spend money on trying to impress you with great furniture. And it reminds me of several cozy outdated cafes I have visited in Europe that have the greatest food around. So go for the food, love the other quirks, relax and enjoy life.

This place has decent food and exceptional cookies and muffins. It is, however, disgustingly dirty and the service is bad.

A wonderful café with everything from fabulous coffee drinks two lunches and baked goods, including some of the most delicious gluten-free treats I have ever tried. Everything is homemade. And the setting is inside a magical forest. What could be better than that?

I really want to like this place. I’ve given it a good college try dozens of times, because the food is really good. But the manager makes it impossible to patronize any longer. She is consistently rude, unprofessional, disorganized, slow and the place is filthy. Today’s visit was the last straw. I walked up to the counter and the manager was standing at the counter facing me, very aware of my presence. She continued to type into her phone for well over three minutes while I stood there waiting to place my order. Three minutes is a really long time in a situation like this and I’d gladly wait that long if she was helping another customer but she was not. She never acknowledged my presence or asked me if I could wait a second while she wrapped up her phone business. I walked away because she never got off her phone to help me and I will never return until the management improves. Please Bainbridge Gardens, train her or someone else to raise the bar on customer service.

We’ve visited this café many times on our way to Battlepoint Park. The food is usually good and it’s nice to sit outdoors. But our most recent visit will likely be our last. Service here has always been a bit of an issue and the proprietor seems to have attitude if you have any questions or special requests. But she far exceeded herself last week. Despite arriving at 11:30 on a weekday, there was a huge back-up. We had two very hungry young boys and had to wait almost a full hour for our simple fare to arrive. If she was short-staffed as it appeared, why on earth wouldn’t she have given a heads up to her customers(we weren’t the only ones impacted) that there was going to be a considerable wait for their food so they had the option of bailing out before ordering if time was an issue. Instead she was rather surly and unapologetic when approached about order status after 40 minutes. A profuse apology and offer of cups of soup all around would have been the professional way to handle the situation. Then when our mediocre food did finally arrive, with one of the dishes in error, the only side to the standard issue tuna sandwich retailing for $ 9, was a tiny slice of orange. We’ll grab a bite in Winslow next time.

Best food on the island! Fresh, locally grown food. We’ve seen the organic farmer deliver the greens that are so fresh and tasty. This food is made from scratch, so it takes a while to prepare, but it’s worth the wait. My favorites are the Chicken Olivetta sandwich and the No-Name Salad. We always bring our out of town guests to the New Rosé, and they rave about the food and the funky, garden atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Wow. What a disappointment. A friend recommended this at work — he bikes and loves it. My wife had been but my son and I had not. Question: would you wait for 25 minutes for a sandwich and a salad? I did. Very inexperienced staff. My son overheard that they forgot whose salad they put in the window for pickup. One server asked the other«Should we go out and ask who ordered this?» and the other server said, «No.» So it sat there. For 20 minutes. I even walked up to see if it was mine and they said they would call me. Turned out it was mine but they forgot to make the Chicken Pesto sandwich, So we waited another 5 minutes. Two mild«sorrys.» Love Bainbridge Gardens — but will never go to New Rose again. I’ve lived here almost 20 years. Food was good, but not worth a 20 minute wait and very disorganized process that simply does not work.

This place is awesome! Today was my first time here, and we got a roasted veggie sandwich and tuna melt, and shared some chicken tortilla soup. All three were delicious, and the sandwiches were huge! The soup had so many veggies and other stuff in it, it was more like a stew(much better than a watery soup). Probably some of the best soup I’ve had in a while. The chocolate chip cookie was also quite tasty, more like a cookie bar, very chewy and delicious. I couldn’t stop eating it despite how full I was! It was pouring rain, but we sat inside an area with tables next to the hut. I was sorry to hear that they will be closed during the month of December, it would be a perfect place to eat lunch after looking at the Christmas stuff in the store. I’m excited to try the place out in the summer, when we can spend more time walking through the nursery. Don’t miss this place! The setting is beautiful, and the nursery is great too.

This is by far the most delicious place for food on Bainbridge Island. I say«place» because it’s not a traditional restaurant, but this little hidden gem is mostly an outdoor bistro style café with home made everything. My salad today was grotesquely large and inexpensive, with what I swear was an entire Avocado on top. It’s like this every time I eat there! Super fresh local ingredients, and owners/staff who clearly treat your food like an art form. The backdrop is wonderful too. You sit outside(though I did notice indoor seating for the rainy months), in a cocooned garden surrounded by trees right in the middle of a green house nursery! I go there when I’m stressed out and my stress just seems to melt away. It really feels like you are sitting in someone’s awesome yard at a picnic table surrounded by birds and nature. I would highly recommend supporting this cute little mom and pop café. Best salads and home made soup on Bainbridge Island by a long stretch. Plug in your GPS because it really is a hidden gem.

This place is interesting in that it is hidden within Bainbridge Gardens. Thier Noname salad is delicious, you must try it. It’s an awesome mix of mixed grrens, blue cheese, strawberries, and walnuts. It’s pretty large too, almost a meal in itself. The pizza was pretty good too, They use a wood fired stove!

Wow! What a surprise. Although the service is definitely slow, the setting is in a nursery so there’s a lot of beautiful plants surrounding you plus the wait for your food will be rewarded. The muffins are the best I’ve ever had, even better than mine and I used to run an incredible bakery in Vermont. They make their sandwich bread on premises and it seems fresh for each dish, the focaccia bread is soft and fluffy when your sandwich is served. They have smoothies but I haven’t tried them yet. The coffee is so so, I think they use an automatic coffee machine, but go for the sandwiches and baked goods. My favorite place for muffins anywhere!

Absolutely disgusting. It was filthy. My husband and I saw the dirt, grime, and mold around the sink faucet on the counter, walls, floors, step. We will never eat here. How can this place be open and serving food to the public? I have never seen such dirt and grime inside an espresso —small food establishment. They need to be shut down.

we stopped there in the middle of a 41mi bike ride and it was the perfect location for a hot chocolate and some food. service was friendly and we got to sit inside a tent area. we almost didn’t stop there, but decided to play safe since it might have been the only place on the route. and as it turned out there weren’t any other close by places at that time. the soup was some some sort of chicken and corn deal my buddy got — i don’t remember the name of it. i tried it and it was really good.

Ok the last person to review this must have been surfing the crimson tide because this place was great. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was more than helpful and friendly to us. They gladly recommended things(which were marvelous) and it only took a few minutes to get our orders out despite how crowded it was. We ordered the Noname salad(which was colorful and amazing) and then I got the artichoke melt(which had the perfect choke to cheese ratio and very tasty spices) and my friend got a cup of the tortilla soup(which she talked about for the rest of the weekend). We also ordered a chocolate chip cookie which was the size of my forearm and perfect! It is in a plant nursery so if you are uncomfortable with plants or flowers then you may want to find a nice McDonalds down the street but we all thought it had a really nice casual and earthy atmosphere.
