Came here super late at night after dinner looking to buy some groceries for the weekend. The aisle were a bit confusing but was fairly well stocked. Not much to complain about, the clerk counter was very nice and pleasant.

Huge grocery store with fantastic selection of fresh produce and organic choices as well. Did not expect such a big store in such a small town. Has everything you can think of, just like any other chain store in any big city in every state. Clean, well stacked, good variety of fish, meat, dairy. You name it they have it, even fresh cut flowers. Convenient parking.

Better than expected selection of organic fruits and vegetables. For a resort location, I found the prices to be quite reasonable. Kroger affiliated.

Love this city market. Fresh produce, fresh meats, Starbucks, great deli, freesh bread and a salad bar the rocks. You can’t go wrong with this place. Great place to get you morning coffee and read the paper, easy to drive up to because the market is right n the middle of town, with plenty of parking. The news papers are avaiable right as you walk through the front door. Seating outside as well in the summer. One thing that might sound kinda odd is the place is kinda old school, the building is a little out of date. But living in a place where everything has to be posh and outrageous it nice to see something that has not been over done with high end finishes and kinda old school. One last thing, the place is clean, the whole place is clean which is a big plus in my book.

First visit to the store. Checker directed me to a different line while checking out a woman but his light was off. Seemed like he was helping during a mild rush of customers. I dutifully got into a different line but behind customers with a fair amount of groceries. Meanwhile, other shoppers showed up and got in my previous checker’s line and he helped them. Did not send them to a different line. Was still checking people out when I finally left. So why not me? No idea. Won’t go back.

Great place to get good fish and meat. just the only thing that stops me from going there is the parking. not the best! To get a spot you have to get there before 5pm… which is hard due to work schedule.

The avon city markets fish and meat department are gross. It’s smells like dead fish every night. The deli serves boars head meat now which is nice but the chicken and all the hot meals are very poorly made. This location use to do 2 dollar manger special on there chicken which made it good for the price. But they no longer do that and you can see the deli section throwing away garbage bins of food at night instead of marking it down managers special. Go to the Breckenridge location or Silverthorne they make our deli look like a joke. Breckenridge Chester’s chicken is unreal good. Even though our store has been recently updated we still have smaller selections then the Other stores and its a lesser quality. Don’t even get me started on produce. Seriously avon city market call up your neighboring breck and Silverthorne city markets and find out how to do things the right way.

Recent improvements/remodeling have updated the aesthetics quite a bit. The selection is quite respectable and all my staff interactions over the years have been favorable– staff turnover is low here so I wager they must be doing a few things right. However it remains a grocery store; the glamour factor is low, but if you need to buy some shit for dinner it is the only game in town. The produce section is well cared for and typically well-supplied with fresh awesomeness, and the meat dudes have no problem with special requests. You’ll find plenty of boutique cheeses, Boar’s Head deli meats and all that gourmet shit the fancier destination skiers require in order to feel good about themselves. One must be careful during peak ski weekends; it can get chaotic in the late afternoon/early evening rush with all the gapers trundling about like they’ve never been to a grocery store before.

The place was dirty, people were unfriendly if you could find someone to ask a question you were lucky, there was no one around. the apple pie turned out to be Peach! The potato salad from the deli needed to be recooked, potato were large pieces and huge chunks of celery and pepper.

Truly mediocre grocery store vintage 1972. I lived in the cold tundra for 19 years and I never ever saw customers wear ski pants in the grocery store. Ever. Here it happens daily. Hourly. They all appear to want to be doing something else, though. Skiing or having sex, as best as I can tell. Italian and Spanish are the languages of choice. This place seems mean. Maybe row after row of double 8′ completely exposed fluorescent bulbs at 12′ on center equals some sort of mean to me. Maybe no eye contact for 45 minutes of shopping starts to feel visually abusive. Simply put, it is NOT a friendly place. Reject carts full of food(5 – 7 of them!) form their own grocery garage sale near the DVD/pharmacy area. Seriously, though, no one wants to be here. Most would rather be skiing and are not sure how they ended up shopping while the rest of their friends and family are skiing. This is why they are wearing snow pants. They are cold. Inside. Aisles seem dirty and disorganized. The store«staging» is the goofiest I have ever seen. Surfaces seem dated. 1972. 1978. Maybe 1984. No later. Very not special. On my last visit I saw an entire card table and 4 chairs on top of a freezer end unit. I even took a photo so you can see how goofy this really is. Look at it. At least you are not wearing snow pants. While you shop. For grapefruits. I have been here about 25 times in the past 10 years and every time I leave town, I have a sneaking suspicion that when I return, it will be completely renovated. Ten years of dashed hopes and unfulfilled expectations. Secretly, though, I am praying that Whole Foods or some other great Colorado grocery store shows up — like the Lone Ranger — to save the day. And a big sign on the new door could, you know, potentially say… «Be friendly. Make eye contact. 90% of you are on vacation. Relax. The person you bump into while shopping for grapefruits may want to take your snowpants off. You just never know. Smile.»

No good… the cashier at self check out wasn’t nice and got on me about filling a discount card out right there on the spot. After I asked if I could take it home to fill out he gave a bad look at said yeah. It wasn’t professional.

I would love to have this store in Denver. It is huge with large aisles and stocked with everything for residents and tourists a like. There is even a souvenir area with decent sweatshirts, postcards, coffee mugs, playing cards, etc. The pharmacy is well stocked, they take King Soopers card for extra discount, and they always have plenty of staff. AND A MAJORUPDATEFROMTHEPREVIOUSREVIEW: They do have an attached liquor store. You can even make your liquor purchase first and carry it around the store. Now why 5 stars for a grocery store other than the obvious attached liquor store? People watching at its finest! I have never seen so many hooded designer fur coats enclosing overly tanned botoxed faces in my whole life. City Market in Vail is almost a religious experience.
