Avant Gard

I love this place! The students are professional and the sulfate free products are amazing. I have curly hair and it’s always hard to find someone who can cut it properly and my girl did a great job the first time. I will definitely go back!

I have been going to Avant Gard for several years and have had nothing but wonderful experiences. AJ and Brooke are both absolute experts regardless of your hair texture, length, or your personal style.
I recently returned from two years living in Paris, France, and found it impossible to find anyone there who could do anything matching the quality of the work I was accustomed to from AJ. Avant Gard is a classy, professional salon that takes care of their customers and knows how to give phenomenal cuts and colors. I have sent many of my friends there — two of them with massive curly hair — and everyone has left simply amazed at what these girls could get their hair to do.
If I had endless amounts of money I would fly AJ out to Paris to do my hair for me! No one compares!

I have been going to Avant Gard for 7 years on and off. I moved to Avon my senior year in high school with 2 months left to go until graduation. I went to Avant Gard because of the «hype» as Kami L. puts it… I was pleasantly surprised.
I grew up in Anaheim, California and out there you can get an AMAZING hair cut, color, and style for under $ 100, but when I moved here I was thoroughly surprised to see how expensive everything was!
Brenda did my cut, color, and style and she did a great job! Again, like Kami L. said, it isn’t super fantastic out of this world (mostly because of the price), but it was a wonderful, friendly experience. The service is 2^nd to none. Brenda is a wonderful Color Artist as well as an amazing Hair Artist.
After living here for a year and attending IUPUI I moved back to California for 6 years for college. I came back due to a job offer and the same people were still working there minus junior stylists. Brenda was/​still is a wonderful Artist.
Only downside is it is quite expensive. I would recommend this anyone looking for a good hair cut and wonderful service experience.

This was the most hyped salon in Indy for a while. I don’t get it. My services were fine, but not so outstanding that I would really recommend them if someone was like, what’s the best salon in the Indy area? Not that upscale of an atmosphere, but with prices more befitting a salon far nicer. Not to mention their pricing structure is confusing, with 4 different pricing tiers, including one for a Jr. Senior Designer — no, not one or the other — both. They do have a nice selection of hard-​to-​find products, though.

You’re going to get a good haircut here. You’ll get excellent color. You’ll get great advice on what products to use to maintain your style. Just don’t get too attached to your hairstylist, because they seem to have a crazy high turnover there. Looking at their website, I was pleased to see that AJ is still there — she’s fantastic!
