Took a day off work. Drove 1 hour 45 minutes to attend this dump: Food Truck Festival. Got to the gate just before 7pm and the price of the ticket per person went from $ 20 to $ 40. We were pissed about their«sliding» ticket prices, as they call them. We had checked about tickets on three weeks prior and couldn’t find them listed so decided to buy at the door(since we were already there!!!)… And got fucking jipped. To make things worst, the festival was overly crowded and they had only 4 food trucks. The nerve for them to call this a food truck festival. 4 food trucks with mile long lines. We waited in line for at least 2 hours and 45 minutes at ONE truck… When we got our food, the concert was wrapping up. I sent My Bf to go get our admissions back because this felt like a total scam. We barely tried one truck… In fact, the food truck guys were so overwhelmed, they shut down operation to the people behind us. Had no time to enjoy any part of the concert. I was totally irked at this point. My Bf came back and said they gave him the runaround before giving him an email to issue his complaint. It better not be a bogus email either or it’s hell on earth. I’ve never had such a bad outing experience in my life… Will take me a month to get over this shit. UPDATE: indeed it was a BOGUS email they provided. I will call any number I can find until this is settled. I hate being scammed. UPDATE09÷01÷15: so after tracking down a phone number and having my BF call to talk to the event coordinator, she sent us our refund. She apologized saying it was their first year hosting an event like this and invited us back to check it out next year. I say no thanks but I hope they continue to improve.

Long overdue review here. I was hung up on giving this place 1 or 2 stars, but I was feeling generous. I was dragged to the Starting 6/Schwayze/Cataracts concert back in May of 2012 by my buddy who needed testosterone that his girlfriend and girlfriend’s little sister were not going to be able to provide. Reluctantly, I agreed to accompany them as I really had nothing better to do that night. I should have known that it was going to be a rough night when I was waiting in line at 5 pm and was already borderline hypothermic… in Avila… in May. Once in, I headed immediately to the outdoor bar kiosks to get a drink… typical overpriced concert venue drinks but man, was it ever STIFF(pro tip to all you rookies… if you want a stiff drink, order a vodka red bull… the price the bar pays on well-quality vodka is much less than what they pay for red bull, so you will receive about 6 oz of vodka and 2 oz of redbull… you’re welcome in advance). Maybe this insanely stiff drink will warm me up? Dead wrong… I swear to you, given the fact that it was already cold and the wind was steadily gusting between 20 and 25 mph, it was quite literally the coldest I’ve ever been in my life wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Luckily at around 8 pm, the Avila Beach Golf Course clubhouse bar opened up, and I headed straight in for an infusion of two or three irish coffees to thaw out. Perhaps May is a little too early in the season for this venue to hold unprotected outdoor concerts with no seating. If it wasn’t for the stiff drinks, the clubhouse, and the scantily-clad cal poly/cuesta coeds running around(how in the FUCK did they not die of hypothermia? Only God knows), this venue would have probably only gotten one star from me.

Saw Sublime, Pepper, and Cypress Hill recently… The location of the venue is cool. Literally across the street from the beach. Small stage though and I think the venue was sold out with like 3,000 there??? Free parking not saying that’s a good thing. It’s a beach so parking is hit or miss. They did half ass search everyone too so… Be ready. Can’t say anything to bad about this place but… I’m going to anyways ;) A friend lost her ID there and when she called to see if they had a lost and found, the guy was a total d*ckhead and told her«They had nothing from the concert.» Maybe it’s just this place, but I’m pretty sure there’s some sort of lost and found at most venues. I get it that this guy works at a snooty, nose in the air golf course and/or was probably pissed off he had to come to work and clean up after us since we thrashed the place but don’t be rude about it. Anywho, Sublime sucked so if you’re thinking about seeing them, forget it. Save your money they were TERRIBLE! Rome just gets wasted and ruins the show. Pepper and Cypress Hill killed it though!!!
