Today is April 1 — Fools Day. Called Bonnie’s just to be sure. The message said, we are open from 3:00p to 10:30p! So we pile in the car around 8:00p and drive down there. CLOSED. Whomp whomp. And that’s no joke.

Best place in town! All if the ingredients are fresh and the employees are nice.

Good yogurt — nothing entirely special but a good change from regular ice cream.

The Cookies & Cream is Awesome! Nice selection of fresh fruits as well as typical ice cream toppings.

Excellent venue– very clean, bright, and cheerful! Good variety– but would love to see more of a flavor variation in frozen yogurts. nice topping selection and very friendly counter girls!

Here’s the deal. Five stars for the product. I tried the original tart & the coconut frozen yogurt. The original was a surprisingly wonderful frozen straight-up yogurt flavor, which paired nicely with the fresh fruit. The coconut was also fantastic, not icy or crystalized at all(easy to encounter with frozen coconut treats) and also satisfied my sweet tooth well with mango & strawberry pieces. At $.59 an ounce, it’s not cheap. I thought I was getting just a little bit(and it probably was an amount equal to a kid’s size Rita’s cup, for comparison) and I still had almost $ 6 worth. For the shore, I guess it’s typical. But next time I’ll just ask for a sample since that’s all I really wanted anyway. Which brings me to the problem. One star for the layout/business concept. I do like the idea. However, it’s not implemented well at all. It was busy, around 9pm on a Wednesday night. There was a pretty long line, but whatever. You grab your cup and the yogurt wall comes first, then the bar of toppings, then the register where you weigh it. Instead of doing things the correct way, there were a bunch of kids running in and out of the line with sample cups, just getting one cupful after another of «samples.» I saw one girl come up five times while I was in line, each time butting in when & where ever she wanted. Guess if she’s not paying she doesn’t have to wait in line, eh? I even saw a group of boys grab a full size cup, add a few toppings, and then walk backwards as if they were getting more yogurt to put on top, then just ran back to a table and started eating it. So I guess with the high price, those of us who are honest get to make up for the kids stealing. Or maybe this is a «pay if you feel like it» kind of establishment? They need some sort of attendant at the machines, or to not give out sample cups at all(if you want a sample, pay the $.59 for just an ounce, right?), or to tighten up the line somehow so you can’t get out of it without going through the cashier. Plus there were huge globs of yogurt in the trays underneath the dispensers. Wasteful, and costly, which transfers to the customer. I like the self serve idea but it is just not working well here. If you go, pick a non-busy time, at least.

Totally psyched to have a froyo place in Avalon. And I love that it’s all DIY so you can do exactly what you want. Price is reasonable. I just hope they can handle the summer crowds.

I’ve tried froyo from New York City to Philadelphia and back again and I think Toppings of Avalon is just great. The froyo is smooth, clean, and fresh, not icy. You serve yourself so you can make it the way you like it. With six rotating flavors of nonfat frozen yogurt and tons of toppings to choose from, you can always try something new. I personally love the alpine vanilla or mango peach tart yogurt with shaved coconut, kiwi and fresh papaya. But I have to say the Cookies’n cream with chocolate chips, strawberries and Ghirardelli syrup was a delicious classic treat. They cut fresh fruit daily so you can pile it high and still keep it completely fat free! It tastes healthy because it is healthy. And the purple and green interior is really inviting. I would highly recommend it after the beach, a bike ride or in the evening with the family for a fun dessert!
