Great sandwiches, friendly service, and a good arnold palmer! Thanks Trailer Perk for being my local tasty sandwich destination in an area bursting with dive bars but short on delicious smoked turkey sprouts tomato pesto sandwiches. They even pull a darn good espresso in that airstream! The more-or-less shady picnic tables offer a very pleasant place to come relaxing in the sun and satiate your afternoon cravings.

I tend to forget about trailer perk because it is so far from the other trailers i frequent on E. 6th. My friend and I went back today and shared a hot mozzarella, tomato and pesto sandwich. It was pretty tasty even though it was a bit watery. not sure if it was from the tomato or the mozz. regardless it was really flavorful and reminded us of why we need to come back more than once a year! I love shaved ice but I haven’t tried theirs yet. Can’t wait to come back soon and try those!

I’ve only been there once. I’m a fan. Ask my co-workers, I’ve been trying to drag someone else over there because I want to go back. Like another Unilocaler mentioned, I discovered this completely by accident. I was trying to meet a buddy on his way to the airport for a quick bite — we had no idea what to do — and he happened upon the place next door. Of course I had to check out Trailer Perk’s menu — create your own salad with all those ingredients? Awesome! And I have to agree with the staff, true to their claim, the handmade salad dressing was unique and yummy. Of course I can’t remember which one I had, but it was tasty. So why the 4-star rating? Honestly, not because I was knocked off my feet by the salad I chose. Don’t get me wrong though, it was good. But in the case it’s because you have a variety of options, good ingredients, handmade dressings, and decent prices. All notably difficult to find as a combination, and especially at a food trailer.

The guy making the sandwich was super nice and gave me a free cookie, but by the time I walked back to my office, my sandwich was soaking wet from the pickle juice(presumably) and made it almost inedible. Bummer, looking for a good place on the eastside.

I have heard great things about Trailer Perk so bypassed my normal coffee stop this morning to go over there. Only to find that it was not open! What kind of coffee place is not open at 8:30am? If you are going to post hours that start at 8am then be there for those of us that need caffeine.

So I went to Trailer Perk for the first time today. Well, the first time I went and it was actually open for business. The space is really cute, with picnic tables, and some much-needed shade trees. The staff is really friendly, and apologetic for being out of Topo Chico(the horror!) and for not having made any lemonade yet.(I had to settle for iced tea, which I never drink) They did happen to have the sandwich I wanted, The Trashy Melt. Semi-thick sliced deli ham and tons of melted chedder on white bread with avocado and chipotle mayo, panini-pressed to perfection. I could complain about the presentation, but it’s trailer food, so I won’t go there. There was one person ahead of me in line, and only one person working, so it did take about 15 minutes to get my sandwich, which seems a bit long for just a sandwich, but I’ll go back. There are definitely a shortage of good sandwich spots in this town. I’d recommend it.

I discovered the Trailer Perk by accident, but it was too cute — I just couldn’t pass by. The staff is incredibly friendly… seems to be a trend with the trailers on the Eastside. It’s a great choice for lunch whether you’re in the mood for healthy or something gooey and cheesy. You can choose from a few specialty sandwiches or create your own melt — my personal favorite. They have tons of choices for cheeses, meats, and veggies. I stopped by today for an egg & cheese breakfast sandwich — it’s pretty solid, but needs a little something extra since the bread is so big. I think adding tomatoes, or maybe even extra cheese would do the trick. All in all, a delicious choice for breakfast or lunch.

Noticed the new trailer on E 6th a couple months ago. It’s well designed with a nice seating area and space for parking. Was looking forward to trying it since I can walk there from my house and there is a lack of good coffee places in this area. The problem here is it never seems to be open despite having their hours posted both online and at the trailer. I’d love to actually base my review on the coffee/food, but each time I’ve attempted to try it during their posted open hours, it’s been closed. A couple Saturdays ago, it never opened. Yesterday, it seemed like it might open but was still shuttered. Hours are also a bit confusing. Based on the name, I would expect the focus to be coffee. However, opens a bit late on Saturdays(if they are still open). And closed on Sundays? Seriously? Yeah, no one drinks coffee on Sunday. Anyway, I’d still be willing to give them a try and report back. However, it seems like Trailer Perk is only open whenever they feel like it. It’s tough to take a business seriously when they don’t open as advertised. At least put a sign up with an explanation why.

So my friend(& hairdresser) Todd and I decided to go on an afternoon bicycle ride on the Eastside at Lady Bird Lake. It started raining on us and we were cold and miserable. On our way back to E. 6th, we passed by the Trailer Perk. I noticed it about a month ago but hadn’t had a chance to stop in. The coffee was exactly what we needed to warm our cold bodies. In fact, they had closed about 30 minutes before we arrived but they brewed a fresh pot for us and it was perfect! I revisited a few days later and also found out that if you bring your own travel mug or cup, they give you 50 cents off. What a steal! Check them out. Look for the wooden picnic tables near the airstream in the parking lot of the former La India Bonita(shhh, soon to be new restaurant.) You won’t be disappointed. Tell ‘em Debbie from the neighborhood sent ya!

I noticed this new airstream on the corner of 6th and Comal today and decided to check it out. What a perfect find on a cold rainy day — comfort food at its finest! My Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Hot Chocolate hit the spot warming both my soul and hands! This cute trailer serves coffee, breakfast and lunch till 2PM and late night sandwiches both hot and cold Thursday — Saturday 9PM — 2:30AM. Closed Sunday.
