I called a couple days prior to my birthday to reserve table for 10 people and talk to some white lady with short hair. I guess she was a Manager. She did reserved the table but by 10:30pm she was pulling them away to give them to other people that was coming in. I really really was very upset about that. I could of made plans somewhere else, but chose to celebrate my birthday there. I told her that I had reserved them and her answer was«well I need them for the people that are coming in.» I felt that was F*** up. I will never ever recommend that place to NOONE to celebrate their special day there. EVER! VERYDISAPPOINTED… NOT A GOODPLACETOGOTOHAVEFUNONYOURSPECIALDAY. ENOUGHSAID…

Just so u know because other reviews don’t state is this is a Mexican bar. If that sounds creepy don’t intend it to be but no reviews –unless I missed it — state this. Nice clean place and very lively with a DJ but Spanish speaking clientele.

Been there about 5 times. .Good Mixed Drinks and Good Service. Nice little place but gets a little too crowded for size of establishment. Music at times is not all that. Times I went the DJ was an OLDER/Elderly lady kinda ackward. like having Grandma as the DJ. no bueno. :/Big Mix of age group(mid 20s — mid 50s) karaōke is fun and over all place was ok.

Great neighborhood bar in an unassuming strip mall. Owner works there and really gets it. Place is top notch! We went on a Thursday and it was full but not packed. Great diverse selection of live music most nights and no cover charge. Great place to wind down this year after sxsw.

Staff was good, crowd was pleasant, and music was ok(I’ve been when they had live music and when they had a DJ). This is definitely not a place for single people looking for an attractive mate. My low rating is due to this: It doesn’t feel like a bar/night club … it feels like you are in a renovated Subway sandwich shop.

This joint is located in a residential area. I would have never expected a suburban bar to be so much fun. The music was great, the beer was awesome, and the service was excellent. The crowd tends to be a little older but very lively and fun. The owners work there and insure great service.

This is a great bar! They always have good music and the crowd is a happy, fun group every time I go. Drink prices are fair and the service is outstanding, especially for such a busy place!

Worst place ever! Bartender rude and claimed we had too much to drink. So disgusted by the unprofessionalism of staff. Upset a member of our party and assumed she. was drunk because she was young. Really! Apparently this is common for this place. what a joke!

I went last night for the first time and it was karaōke night. Good crowd for karaōke. Toro Negro Lounge is a nice little spot to grab a drink and get away from the masses. Do not expect the Downtown experience, but it is a fun place to grab a drink with friends. Service was great and a believe the reviews about being a Mom and Pop bar are correct. Nice folks… I will definitely be back.

it’s nice to know I’ve got a neighborhood bar to hit up any random night I’m bored. it’s clean and there is lots of seating. the drinks are pretty cheap and it seems like everyone knows everyone there. my husband and I went last night out of boredom and had a nice time. the crowd is definitely older so if you’re looking for a young hip bar, go downtown. this place was where the neighborhood locals came to get their drink on.

Came to Toro Negro for really quick drink. I’m going to go ahead and give it five stars because: a. The price is right. b. The place is spacious and clean. c. THESERVICEWASAWESOME. Okay, so we were like one of five people in there, and the other people in there obviously knew the owners, but that doesn’t change the fact that I played dumb and didn’t know what to order(which tends to happen quite often, actually), and had some assistance from the barkeep. I am a whiskey/beer chick, and wanted to try something more suitable to the ambiance. The place itself is dark, with short bistro tables and couches throughout the general area. The music is tropical: merengue/bachata/salsa/etc. I wanted something that screamed fancy… Or something with an umbrella. Either way the bartender took the time to probe me on my tastes, dislikes and made me something tasty and fruity that I downed in like two seconds. The lady owner(I think) walked right over and welcomed us and gave us a bowl of pretzels. The whole time I’ve worked service industry in Austin or gone to a bar for that matter I’ve never been served anything(food wise) that I didn’t order. I thought that was kinda cool. I’d like to see this place full of latin dancers, going crazy on the dance floor, drinking mojitos and speaking too quickly for anyone who doesn’t speak Spanish fluently to understand. Alas, it is a new, hidden gem, and for that reason is quiet and uncrowded. I dug it. Even if it was in a strip mall…

The strip-mall atmosphere is a little stale. The staff is cool. The happy hour specials are alright. I live nearby, so extra points for convenience.

Toro Negro Lounge is a family affair, and when you’re there it feels like you’re with family(All the tios and tias checking up on you to see that you’re doing fine type-of-thing). Right now they’re working on getting all sorts of permits, I hear, so you can enjoy your carry-out in the Lounge and they’ll be cool with it. I did enjoy their latin music playlist, but they’re also working on getting live music, so if you’re a musician, you should hit them up, like already did. ;) I think I will stick to this place during Happy Hour only, or on a night when I feel like drinking cheap beer. ***pffffft***

Bueno! Me gusta Toro Negro! Lo pasamos genial. Mi novio y yo gustamos cervezas y festivido personas. We were told the mixed drinks are very, very strong. Cannot wait to go back for the spicy bloody mary and a margarita.

Finally 78748 and 78745 have a neighborhood bar. A clean friendly place to hang out and relax. The owners are sweet as can be, and offer great customer service. The modern décor, lounging area, and plenty of seating make for a great spacious bar to chill. I had the spicy bloody mary and must say… it’s one of the best– south of the river. I can’t wait to see how this grows. I see myself spending many Saturday afternoons here.
