iIve been going to thundercloud my whole life, I remember my friends and I saving are money to get a sub here. There subs are great, bread fresh, meat and cheese great but you must get the thunder sauce on any sub you get. The atmosphere is awesome and every thundercloud has a different atmosphere which is awesome. Sadly I thought I couldn’t find a place better but I did, Jersey Mike’s subs, but whenever I go back home I go to the number one place in my heart, thundercloud subs.

Not a favorite. Thunderclouds subs are underwhelming. Being used to subs in the northeast, these just don’t compare. For a frame of reference, I like Jersey Mike’s subs. Harder bread, bigger sandwiches. Not only that, but I feel that the Thundercloud don’t really care and it shows in the food. Wish I liked this place better.

Very cool atmosphere and in my opinion, the most unique place to eat a sandwich in Austin. My personal favorite sandwich is the Veggie with hummus instead of cream cheese. They always have fresh ingredients and fresh bread. The salads are awesome too. I NEVER leave this place hungry, and it’s cheaper than Subway! If you’re watching fat content and calories, I advise staying away from the smoothies and soups, as they are full of fat and sugar. The atmosphere is awesome. Go when the weather is nice and enjoy one of the tables in the park.

Another example of a restaurant that knows its business and doesn’t try to be something its not… This location is within walking distance and I have frequented a couple times a week for the past five years. This is a good — three/four star — sandwich shop made great — five stars — by the folks who work there. Its not fancy, but the quality is reliable, the prices very reasonable, and if you’re a regular, they know you and remember your preferences. Unfortunately, word on the street today is that this location will be closing due to an increase in the rent. A real shame considering the niche they filled.

This is my absolute favorite Thundercloud location, and today they made my day. I work in the arboretum so I’m a frequent lunch customer and they’ve got my sandwich order down. Today I ran by for my lunch break only to get an urgent phone call while I was still in line. I took it outside and 20 minutes later walked back in looking dejected and hoping I would have enough time to scarf down a kid’s turkey on wheat. Well guess what? Paul smiled and handed me a bag complete with my sandwich, juice, and cookie! I could have jumped across the counter and hugged them all! So thanks to Scott, Charlie(?), and Paul for making today awesome. The sandwiches are tasty, service is quick, and the music is usually AMAZING(particularly when«Story of a Girl» or anything by The Smiths is playing).

After so many disappointing Subway sandwiches, I finally tried Thundercloud Subs. Thundercloud has great bread, reasonable prices and healthy sandwich options. I love the new Tbird sandwich!

Anyone that knows me really well knows I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES me some Thundercloud. This love affair has lasted far longer than any relationship I’ve ever had; though, to be fair, it started when I was eight so it’s not like many boyfriends can top the kind of commitment Thundercloud has showed me. My favorite thing on the menu? A large, regular club, on white. Lettuce and onions. Provolone cheese. And as much«thundersauce»(AKA a special oil and vinegar blend) as they wanna throw on my little slice of paradise. I give this location major props because they’re the only location that, on more than one occasion, has said, «I can see you’re a devotee of the sauce. Let me give you a side of thundersauce to go!» WHAAAAAAAAAAT?! I can take it BACK with me? Didn’t make my day, oh no, it made my life… no, seriously, it did. If I could rub myself down in thundersauce and… well, nevermind. But it’s so crazy good! I LIKE the fact that the people that work here are all chill stoners that dig they work at Thundercloud and are always chatty and wanna make sure they make my sandwich right. Eff Quizno’s. Eff Potbelly. Eff EVERYWHERE that isn’t my jewel of a sandwich shop. VIVALATHUNDERCLOUUUUUUUD!!!

Thundercloud is as good as gets when it comes to subs. This location is a favorite because of the outdoor seating/atmosphere. I’ve been coming to this place since I was a kid and it has not lost its charm. Picnic on green grass, kiddos get to climb all over the marble cows — perfect. Most days this location has very fresh bread which really makes the sandwich. The Texas Tuna is just incredible and has to be one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten — jalapenos, guacamole, tunafish. Never thought such a combination would be so good, by my goodness it is.

Not bad, but certainly nothing to write home about. I had the California Club, and it was pretty tasty. Good amount of bread, bacon, turkey, and cheese. The avocado seemed to be more of a guacamole spread, and I prefer just plain, fresh, avocado, but I was starving so I wasn’t complaining. I don’t really see much incentive to come here over Quizno’s or Potbelly’s, as the prices seem to be about the same. It’s in a nice spot, and hopping over to Amy’s for dessert is really convenient, but I don’t exactly crave their sandwiches. Now their neighbor Five Guys, on the other hand, is a different story.

Love TCloud. Sure wish you guys would carry Coke though! Can’t do much better than the club for my money. Love how they slice the lettuce so thin! It makes the sandwich. That, and Fritos. It’s a good combo. Only thing that would make it better? Coke.

My favorite t-cloud! It’s a quick walk from work and the staff here are absolutely awesome folks. They do a really good job of acting like they think I’m cool, impressive that. For some reason I always spin-throw my credit card to the nice one and she always snags it in mid-air(ok, she missed it once out of the last 20 times, pretty good average on that). Their subs are tasty, and the prices, particularly the specials are cheap. Good quick subs, great service, great location. One negative is the bread is only ok. The sub bread at Jimmy johns’ is definitely better. But I still give them 5-stars because they have so much more personality than JJ’s.

You know how when you ask for tomatoes at other sandwich shops, and they they pull out some nasty yellow tomato ends and slap them right on your sandwich without blinking an eye? THUNDERCLOUDDOESN’T DOTHAT. Been going here for years and that simple fact still wins me over. Thundercloud makes sandwiches with the time and care that I would make a sandwich for myself. These people make Subway’s «sandwich artists» look like chumps.

You know, the way Thundercloud belts you over the head with how ‘local’ and ‘Austin’ they are in their advertising, it makes me think — if you have to spend that kind of time and money telling people how authentic you are, doesn’t it kind of smack of inauthenticity? Anyway, marketing creepiness aside, you could slap a ‘Subway’ sign on here and I’d never know the difference. Low quality meat, uninspired menu selections, everything just screams mediocre. Really, you might as well just grab a sandwich off the rack at 7 – 11.

Solid deli with tasty sandwiches on the cheap. I recently discovered the mesquite smoked chicken. A large is one of the best bargains IMO. Love it with provolone, spicy mustard, pepper and thunder sauce. Friendly service as well.

Just because it’s local and«keeping Austin weird» doesn’t mean it’s good. Quirks and eccentricities here and there are fine but when your entire business is based on them, well, you may have a problem. I like some of their variety, like the egg salad sub. It’s pretty good and to my knowledge there’s not many other places you can get one. But the basics, like turkey or ham and cheese are sorely lacking in both taste and execution. This location is one of the weirder ones, it’s got all manner of action figures, photoshopped pictures, etc. Inside has a cool loft area that never is open and leaves approximately five seats. And the employees look like the woke up under a bridge after a bender. There’s too many good sandwich places around(check my other reviews) to waste your money and appetite on «Keeping Austin Weird.» My stomach doesn’t care about weird, it cares about yummy.

The sandwiches are pretty alright. The staff here varies. All are pleasant, but not all are great at sandwich construction. There’s no consistency from employee to employee, thus the rating. I’ve never hated something here, but I never know what I’m going to get. I need to try out another location, and I will. The company is doing something right, so that’s good. That california club is really pretty great when it’s made well.

I love this Thunderclouds because of the area its in. My ex and i used to come here often. its kind of out back, relative to the parking, but the inside is clean and cool. The staff are always spaced out, but cool. well at least when i went in. I swear they smoked a mary jane cigarette before i got there. what i love the most about this joint(no pun intended), is going outside to eat. they have a cool hangout spot with benches and such. oh the sandwiches are good too. put avocado on everything for that signature zip.(not intended on the tuna sandwich.)

This is a good lunchtime option in the Arboretum. The ingredients are fresh and tasty, and it is a much better alternative to Subway. One of my favorite things about this location is the outdoor seating in the park-like Arboretum. Eating my small turkey on wheat and reading a good book under the shade of the trees is a mighty fine way to spend a lunch break.

Eh, it’s okay. The hummus on the veggie sandwich is tasty. The people working there are usually pretty pleasant. Nothing special, but better than subway for sure.

I love going to Thundercloud and ordering whatever the daily special is. I have them put everything on it. A wonderful choice for lunch. Try the«Office Favorite», a delightful mix of egg salad and bacon.
