I went in with high hopes but they quickly crashed and burned under the hipster/hippie feel of the place. The food is pre-made so there is no customizing. The choices are very limited. The staff was rude and very unfriendly. The art on the walls was pretentious. To make everything worse, the food was meh. The only reason I’m not rating it one star is so the hipster mafia doesn’t come and leave a bloody 8 track in my bed.

The Soup Peddler story is indeed a good one and most long time Austinites’ have heard a piece if not all of David’s journey with SP. With $ 90 in his pocket and innovative ideas the Soup Peddler story began. I have juiced and dined at both the North and South location and this week I checked out the Airport Blvd location. The South location has gotten me energized before plenty of ACL festivals and the North location is conveniently off 183 making it a great place to grab a juice/soup/sandwich close to my home. The Soup Peddler focuses on quality ingredients and miraculously does so while maintaining reasonable prices. They also treat their customers specials throughout the week. Here are just a few of my favorites: Juices — I love the playful names often relating to music. — The Righteous brothers with cooling cucumber, pineapple, cilantro & lime is my new favorite green juice. — The Afternoon Delight is delightful indeed with beet, watermelon, pineapple, ginger, lemon, mint, maca & rosewater. Beet can be overpowering at times but the Afternoon Delight is perfectly balanced. — When I want to keep it simple, I go straight for the watermelon juice(pro tip, add a splash of Topo Chio) Smoothies — Soup Peddler Real Food & Juice Bar makes some of the best smoothies in town! — The Busy Bee tastes magical. It has sweet mango, orange juice, banana, goji berry and a hint of local bee pollen. Soups — Mulligatawny, I may not be able to pronounce this soup but I can tell you this soup is phenomenal. It is a curried lentil and vegetable soup with cauliflower and green apple, thickened with coconut milk. — Cucumber Mint is a refreshing summery soup served chilled. — Miraculously the Tomato Basil Soup is both vegan and gluten-free. This rich tomato soup has roasted garlic, fresh basil, rosemary, marjoram and thickened with rice flour vs thick calorie laden cream. Sandwiches — You really can’t go wrong with any of their sandwiches. All the cheeses are rBGH-free Tillamook except for the mozzarella. The bread is from a local baker and makes for one heck of a grilled cheese. If you want to eat real foods and drink amazing juices that will satisfy your soul, tastebuds and wallet then you will enjoy a visit to the Soup Peddler Real Food & Juice Bar.

Great food and service. Had the cioppino soup, cheddar sandwich and one of their smoothies. Worth the trip!

I’ve been here three times, and have loved everything I’ve had. It’s well worth the price. The«Mulligatawny» soup is amazing. I also love their Moonage Daydream concoction. The«Business Time» is also really good, as is their super cookie. Great, comforting food and great service!

My lil brother and I had a smoothie craving, so(of course) I got the scoop on Unilocal before deciding our course. As I love«real food» and all that it implies, so we were happy to find The Soup Peddler. Whole, real food fulfilling our smoothie craving — no corn syrup or artificial syrup anythings. My brother had the Business Time, which looked amazing and has espresso, banana, peanut butter, and more. I couldn’t resist trying the Lassi Come Home: mango, rosewater, fennel seed, local yogurt, raw local honey, himalayan salt, rice milk… and I added echinacea for a dollar more. It was filling without weighing me down. The customer service was great, we were offered samples of the famous soups but with it being all hot and sticky outside, we declined. I hope to be back when there is soup-friendly weather!

I had the $ 10 cherry and pistachio smoothie. A lot of the options here are vegan, so they get +2 stars for that. The staff seems friendly and the wait wasn’t too bad, even on a very busy lunch adventure. The food is definitely not value priced, but it isn’t as egregiously over-the-top as Whole Foods. This location in particular is good if you have kids: if a family member is not into smoothies or soups, you can walk over to the Phil’s playground and spend $ 83 on a veggie burger there.

Holy cow! The lady was so helpful and sweet and down to earth! She helped me pick a juice that would make my «bloaty sluggish» feeling go away(you know, that«I partied too hard and now feel like a fat sloth«feeling you get from staying out too late and over indulging) She recommended royal flush. But I told her I wanted a juice and she said«oh the Moonage daydream is perfect for u. It has a nice bite to it from the cayenne« And WOWHOLYCOWITSWONDERFULLYSMOOTH! My husband grabbed the Sun Ra… He adored it but I don’t prefer celery in my juices Anyways They also gave us something for free for simply being nice to them! What a nice new up and coming place !

The Austin institution that rhymes with Moosehand has a new competitor in my book, as it pertains to my proximity to Hyde Park/Airport. Primarily, the price point at Soup Peddler is hard to beat. You can get a large super juice/smoothie for less than $ 9, whilst you’ll be looking at $ 10+ at the competitor. Don’t get me wrong; I love the sister of Gooseband. As this location still has some staffing and inventory issues to sort through, I want to extend grace. A few mistakes were made in my early visits: running out of rice milk, making 2 mediums after I ordered 2 larges. Fortunately, the type of people they hire are quick to recover, offering just compensation and being swift to serve. SPRF&JB will keep me coming back, so long as I eat processed and heavily gluten-laden and fried-leaning foods during the week. Thanks for giving a jump start to my mornings when the natural flow of my system isn’t quite up to par. Oh, I meant to add, the $ 39oz. size is a nice touch, when you just need to pump a quick few sips of vitamins into your system.

One of my favorite spots. Great staff. FRESH salads and smoothies, juices and soups. Love the Business Time smoothie and the wheatgrass shot. The soups are ALL great and they change up the menu for specials daily. Haven’t tried the sandwiches but I’m sure they’re great. Thanks, SOUPPEDDLER!

So much more than just soup! I’ve been looking for a place like this closer to where I live. So many healthy options! And delicious! The soup is unbelievable. Just a tiny little unassuming place. Didn’t expect to be wowed. But I totally was! And they have great Togo little things to grab too.

Whoa! I think I am gonna be coming in here more often. I need to eat healthier. I had the red pepper gouda soup and it was wonderful. They have wraps and other healthy stuff so you can grab and go. I work at the Dominos next door as my second job so its great to have healthy food when I need it. Accepts Belly rewards. Friendly, helpful lady was working the front counter. Parking is not an issue. I didnt check out the bathroom, but since the rest of the place is clean, I assume the bathroom is clean too. Has many options for vegetarians, vegans and has gluten free stuff too if youre into that. I just need to lose weight, thats all. I gotta check out some of the smoothies… they have one called a Duane Almond which of course, has almonds and peaches among other things.

I’ve come here a few times for lunch after work. It’s great to have another healthy option in the neighborhood! I had always heard people rave about their food but never went to their south location so I’m glad they opened up this one! There’s plenty of parking and the staff is friendly. My go to is the chicken with rice soup and the grilled cheese sandwhich. I wish there was a half sandwhich option but I don’t mind eating the whole grilled cheese because it’s literally the best thing ever. The soup is great too not too salty not too bland just the right amount of chicken, rice, and veggies. I like that they have a smaller soup size option, I normally get the 3 oz with my sandwhich. I eat in but have weird lunch hours so haven’t had trouble getting a table. The place is small though but but bigger then the other location. Thanks soup peddler for opening this location!

I’m impressed! My home made soup is all I want when I’m under the weather, but couldn’t even summon the energy to chop celery :(This new location is close by so I gave it a try. The Green Goddess was perfect,(brocolli, kale, spinach, brown rice) & my friends Tuscan,(sausage, potato, carrot, cabbage), was equally loved. I stole a few bites with a separate spoon while he wasn’t looking.:) I’ll definitely go try the smoothies, sandwiches, & juices soon. Thank you Soup Peddler. I am healed!

So happy these guys moved into my area. I eat out more than I should, so it’s nice to have an affordable and healthy option not too far from me. The staff is super friendly and I had three different people greet me when I came in. The store was empty at first, but filled up with more customers after I ordered. It’s clean and inviting. I ordered two of the pesto provolone grilled cheese, the mulligatawny, and a flotsam and jetsam. All were fantastic. I ended up gorging on the two sandwiches(not my original plan) and saving the soup more or less for later. The soup was so rich with flavor and not overly salty; two things that make me happy. The juice was amazing! Not too green tasting(not that I mind that). The right balance of veggie and sweet. Everything came out pretty quickly and I was on my way home content. I’m so excited about my future visits!

Excellent soups. I love the cookies they make from scratch. The only thing is that the chicken is not even natural, i think a place like this one, must have ORGANIC chicken. They do have a good service also. Thank you !

I’ve really liked most of the soups I’ve tried. Had to knock off a star for the Thai Chicken wrap I got today. It needed more sauce & the greens were super-wilted from being in a fridge that was too cold.

I love soup and have been wanting to try the soup peddler for some time. Unfortunately, I usually want it when it’s cold outside or I’m sick, so I’d never made the trek down to their south location. So glad they opened a location on Airport, just a stones throw from me. I went during lunch and told the cashier it was my first time. She told me what her favorites were and gave me a sample of the mulligatawny(sp?). It was fantastic. Had a bowl of the mulligatawny and peach yogurt honey smoothie. Great meal for a windy day! Staff was excellent! Good service and quick!

They have been open for about a week and I’ve walked over twice so far. On my first visit I was debating between a couple different soups and the cashier happily announced I could try any of them to help me decide. Really pleasant, unrushed experience. I’m a fan. After trying a few the mullagatawny stood out for me but they have that soup every day so I went with a daily special green chili stew that was fantastic. Second visit, you guessed it, mullagatawny which is probably going to be my standard order unless something better comes along. Both great soups. I’ve gotta say the Airport Blvd area used to be pretty sketchy but one by one it’s getting awesome local businesses like Soup Peddler, Sala and Betty and Bullfight! Welcome to the neighborhood y’all. Also worth noting that when I first moved to Austin I remember Soup Peddler donating their building(south Austin) to allow operation turkey to deliver thanksgiving to lots of Austinites for free. Makes me happy to support them. I’m sure they will do very well at this location.
