Incredible coffee, incredible service. The staff is very knowledgable, super friendly and the place has a very laid back, Austin vibe. Love this place!

Favorite coffee shop/roaster in Texas! Actually, TCT might be my favorite in the US… There’s so much to love about TCT. My friend’s little sister said they had good coffee here so we decided to stop by, and she was SO right about the coffee. I ordered an iced lavender mocha and cold brew. My friend and her sister each ordered the iced coconut latte. The taste of lavender was apparent but not overbearing at all. I generally don’t like coconut flavored things but the iced coconut latte had the perfect amount of coconut. The service and staff here are absolutely wonderful. If you need anything or have questions about anything, they are very willing to help and are friendly about it. The ladies that took our order and made our drinks were so sweet. One of them made our drinks while the other made us mini affogatos which were very good! I think the ice cream is homemade so that made the affogatos even more delicious. Overall, it was a great experience. The drinks were good, and the staff was friendly. I might have to stop by every time I’m in Austin…

I think of myself as a coffee fanatic, and all I can say the café organic from Peru is the best of the best. I’m being in Austin for 17 year now and this is the only place where You can get as many different kinds of coffee as You like. Very helpfull and friendly staff and TCT is the man! They also are the only ones that will fix your espresso machine.

The best place for coffee in Austin. They have an amazing selection of everything coffee and great tea as well. The staff are always very helpful and hospitable, offering samples every time I go in. They are a wonderful local business, offering Fair Trade and organic products and a nice assortment of accessories.

I was visiting from Boston. I stopped by and got two pounds to take home — Lone Star Blend and Peru Blend. The staff was super nice and helpful. I have been drinking my coffee everyday since I got home and it is a delicious slice of Austin in Allston, MA. Thanks TCT!

I’ve known and enjoyed Texas Coffee Traders’ Texas pecan coffee for quite some time at Opa Coffee and Wine Bar, however I never knew that they had a store on the East side! I was surprised to find that Texas Coffee Traders has a coffee bar with outdoor seating and a large retail area with coffee and teas by the pound and tools for perfect brewing. I loved sampling various coffees. The selection is large. The staff knows coffee and are super friendly! What’s not to love!

You walk in to this massive warehouse-type area and see every coffee gadget available to man! French presses, espresso makers, portable espresso makers, loose tea, pour-over contraptions and anything else you could ever imagine! The people that work there are so friendly. They are willing to explain every roast of coffee they have and can make you any high-maintenance order you throw at them. I ordered an iced coconut latte and it was fantastic. I had a friend who ordered a lavender espresso drink and she loved hers as well! They have coconut milk for those who are lactose intolerant. I don’t live in Austin, but I can see how everyone would want to serve coffee from Texas Coffee Traders! I will be coming back each and every time I visit Austin!

I have tried almost every single coffee shop/café in Austin, and I have grown tired of a trend in Austin coffee shops where all the espressos are very fruity and acidic, and then when you finish the espresso, there’s this very sticky oily stuff at the bottom. For want of a better word, all the shots are incredibly tart. I was looking for a traditional, dark, and smooth espresso, and so far everywhere in Austin had left me wanting a normal Italian shot. So I’d heard about this place, TCT, and decided to check it out actually to go buy an espresso machine so I could make my own espresso with Lavazza beans to get what I wanted. I walked in, and immediately people were asking if I needed any help. I took a shot in the dark and said I was looking for a traditional espresso taste, and I told the(I think) owner about my espresso woes in Austin. I showed her a picture of a Lavazza bean bag and said that’s the kind of coffee I was looking for. She smiled and said«don’t worry, you’re in a safe place now.» She showed me a few beans and then pulled a shot for me from one of their most popular blends, and it was EXACTLY what I had been looking for in an espresso. A smooth, medium shot that tastes just like an Italian espresso, not the incredibly oily and acidic/fruity shots that coffee shops in Austin are currently all pulling. Not to mention, the espresso here is cheaper than anywhere in Austin, a double shot here is a real double shot, not the«doubles» most places pull(which are really just single shots) and then charge $ 4.00 for. Texas Coffee Traders just got a loyal customer.

This is my absolute FAVORITE place to go and stock up on coffee for the office. The owner’s and staff are so helpful and authentically nice. I like to stop by early in the morning, grab a latte from the bar, a couple of pounds of coffee for the week, a few of their awesome teas(for that afternoon lull), and some of the chocolate covered espresso beans to snack on!

Just came here for the first time today, not expecting much, and I was a bit blown away. They have tons of coffee variety and quality, but it wasn’t just that! First off, the staff is super helpful AND knowledgeable AND patient. They aren’t aggressively trying to sell anything, they are just super into their craft and love sharing their knowledge. Secondly, they have a great selection, not just of coffee beans, but also of equipment. Everything from french press to aeropress to espresso makers. Third, they have free tasting samples for hot coffee, cold brew coffee, tea, and lemonade. The nicest thing about this is that they have different brew styles of the same bean, so you can really compare and see the difference. Finally, they have an awesome outdoor chill area and coffee shop with chairs and tables! This was great since today happened to be a beautiful day. Dog-friendly too!

The staff at Texas Coffee Traders is very customer focused and after letting them know it was our first time in, we got a full rundown of how the coffees were organized and how to go about sampling all of the many coffees, teas, and cold brew coffees they had available. There is a nice selection of really fragrant and unique tea blends in addition to a great selection of whole bean coffees as well as all the gadgets and gizmos you might want. Everybody was knowledgeable about the products they offered and we came away with a couple bags of coffee, a few teas, and had a mocha and hot chocolate on the patio as well. Everything we sampled tasted great and the drinks were ordered were nice as well. The prices on the drinks in house were also extremely reasonable, bordering cheap for the higher quality products they offer. I’ll definitely be back.

Such a sweet little spot. Workers are super knowledgeable the retail selection is on point and they even give you a taste tour test to help you develop your knowledge of tastes and flavors of different beans and methods of brewing. I loved everything about this hidden gem.

We walked into Texas Coffee Roasters a bit overwhelmed. We didn’t know where to start. The guys were looking for their morning cup of joe with a uniquely Austin experience and they found it here. Luckily for us, one of their amazingly approachable and knowledgeable staff, came up and took us under his wing. He immediately put us at ease with his friendly manner and wealth of knowledge. We got a bit of history on the business, what they offer, and which coffees were the most popular. We did a tasting of some of their offerings and the guys purchased some beans for home. They guys also left with delicious cups of coffee and we were now equipped to head over to nearby Franklins BBQ and wait the requisite 3 hours in line. While we were in Texas Coffee Traders we interacted with lots of different staff members. Everyone was very helpful and offered up local recommendations of places to visit while in Austin. Can’t recommend these guys highly enough!

If a roaster, coffee shop, and a specialty coffee supply store had an ugly baby it would be Texas Coffee Traders. Don’t be scared of the junky appearance from the scooter graveyard, because you’ll be missing out on one of the coolest shops in East Austin. Once inside, you’ll be greeted, or rather, assaulted with an array of coffee smells. Their diverse selection of roasts fill a complete wall. Although they are known for their roasts, they have a weird selection of things you can buy. Here’s just a small list of what you can buy a TCT that shows the eclectic inventory: –A fresh cup of joe to go –A bulk order of brewed coffee to supply your next party(order in advance) –A Moka Pot for Italian Espresso –A bag of beans for personal consumption –A bag of beans for mass consumption –Replacement parts for the Moka Pot you bought last year and destroyed in the dishwasher But most importantly, what you cannot buy, but ultimately receive from TCT is a wealth of information from a staff that is committed to the local Austin community and watching that community grow and evolve. I support them, because they support Austin.

Texas Coffee Traders is fantastic! It’s like wine-tasting for Coffee. Is there such thing as Coffee sommelier?! Because all the employees would pass the Master Coffee Sommelier exam in my book! TCT has daily samples of their coffee & tea. I didn’t try the tea but for their coffee, they brew/prepare the same bean 3 different ways — coffee sock, drip & brew. And the employees help explain what you’re tasting. From there, they take you over to the coffee bean wall and explain taste by region. It was sensory overload for my nose! I left with 2 bags 2lb bags(~$ 15 per pound). In addition to beans, they also sell all kinds of coffee gadgets — chemexes, socks, cups, etc!

Completely amazing establishment with extremely friendly and knowledgeable employees. When my husband and I entered the place, we were warmly greeted by someone who could not wait to talk to us about the samples, the beans, and anything and everything about the store. Her passion for her work shone through and you can’t help but feel equally excited about everything she was telling us. They have various samples of coffee and tea ready for customers to try. My husband bought a cold brew coffee and I had a latte. Both drinks were very well made. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves coffee or needs to buy a present for someone who does. They have a wide variety of beans for sale as well as different gadgets and appliances right in the store.

Wow, this was a surprise — think Santa’s workshop in Austin, just doing tea & coffee instead of toys. Texas Coffee Traders is an East 4th warehouse roasting giant bags of coffee, with a genuine«Keep Austin Weird» retail area in the middle of it. If you like coffee, you’re going to love this place. And all the reviews & pics I’ve seen pretty much cover it: Coffee bean wall, smart & friendly staff, hardware, software(that’s what I call filters), and lots of coffee & tea samples. There’s real coffeehouse action with barista fare if you want, but I was having more fun with all the samples. Incidentally, I do a particular blend from Anderson’s and that’s not going to change, but I’ve been enjoying TCT’s Victory blend & look forward to the Starling. The two half-pound bags cost me $ 15. Good stuff here. And a final anecdote: As I was leaving the patio area after reading their Unilocal reviews, I passed in front of two gentlemen sitting & conversing. One turned to me and said, «Hey, we have a fan over here if it’s too warm for you. Come join us, we’re just chatting.» I said, «Are you Mr Beall? You look exactly like your Unilocal photos. Your store is wonderful.» He did a jolly laugh. I could easily picture him with a beard and red suit.

Excellent selection. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Free samples. You’d be HARDPRESSED to find a better coffee supplier. They roast and toast it right here. Don’t go anywhere else, you’ll just wind up bitter.
