The name says it all. The best fried chicken I’ve had in a long time. Their lunch buffet was awesome and the sweet tea is on point. Mrs Lily will greet you and make you feel at home.

This place is fabulous! Staff is super friendly and the food is amazing! Spinach and Coke slaw are out of this world! I highly recommend.

The fried chicken and fish was delicious and juicy. There wasn’t a variety of items to choose from just fried chicken and fish but you can choose from several side dishes. I believe this was the case due to it being lunch time. I would recommend. The customer service is great and you can tell this is operated by family.

After eating light all week, I was ready to indulge. Got there by 11:30 am so the crowd was a little thin. Fresh, hot chicken was on the buffet. I supplemented my meal with yams, well seasoned cabbage and a little mac and cheese. While eating, the server notified me that hot catfish had just been placed on the buffet. Yum. Good but the chicken is the clear star here. A bonus is that a drink comes with your meal-sweet tea, lemonade or have them both(Arnold Palmer). Easy location to get to. Great parking. Will be back!

Good home — style cooking so good it makes you want to slap your mama silly! In other words fantabulous! The only drawback is that they are only open for lunch.

So, it’s close to work. Pay and start eating. The meats go fast so full up the first time. 2 ladies and a cook running the joint, low overhead. The food we did get was good and worth trying at least once but don’t go with a large group cuz someone isn’t gonna get some chicken or fish the first go round. Lol but be patient

We were in town to visit family and were looking for a good southern cooking place. This place came up with good reviews so we tried it out. The décor is different, and it’s very hole-in-the-wall with limited hours, but the food is so so good. The chicken is amazing, the fish is great, and the veggies were really good. The breading on the chicken was incredible, dry and crispy and the inside was really juicy. Really simple and homey. It’s a family run business, and they are super nice and welcoming. Definitely worth a shot if you like southern cooking!

Been on the road for a month now and this place was a breathe of fresh air. Lunch buffet was simple but awesome at the same time. Pretty sure it’s impossible to make the catfish anymore better then this place. Great owners and positive vibes all around!

This place is hard to find, there’s no big sign shouting out their name OR location. It’s still well worth your time to find this place, though! I came during lunch, and they offered a buffet as the only option. I’ll start with the cons, there’s a limited selection(for a man spoiled by the big name buffets ridiculous selections), and the décor is in the middle of a renovation, so it’s a little rough looking. That’s it, those are the cons! The owner greets you at the door, makes sure you know how the buffet works, makes sure your drink is filled, and most importantly, makes you feel comfortable and at home. The food was simple, but very tasty! The selection I saw was fried chicken breasts, fried catfish, sweet corn, black eyed peas, Green beans, mashed yams, mashed potatoes, spinach, salad, potatoes salad, coleslaw, and cabbage. I’m probably forgetting something. The chicken was amazing, in the top five for me. The catfish was okay, if only because it was a little old, I found a fresher piece that really showed the flavor of the batter, and wished I could find more. The sides were good, some stood out more than others for me(like the yams and spinach, and I’m not a cabbage guy, so someone else will have to try that). All in all, four stars. I would probably have given five if I had more fresh catfis. As it was, I had to stick with the chicken breasts, which(as i said) are tasty, but I could have used some dark meat as well…

Cheap and good soul food. I had catfish, mac N cheese, sweet corn, and greens, and it was all delicious. I can’t stress enough that this place has Cherry Kool Aid on the menu, and it is GOOD. Just like I made it when I was a kid. :)

Very Good food and even better service. The family running the place are a fun bunch, and the babies running around make it even better. The price is very reasonable as well.

Tucked away in an older shopping center. But a true diamond in the rough. Everyone I have ever come across in there is kind, genuine, and just happy to be around. Their name says it all, true Southern Hospitality. Their food?! OHWOW!!! I always say«I wish EVERYTHING didn’t taste so good. I just want 1 dish to be average.» They have a variety of dishes and they change with the day of the week. I’ve only gone during their lunch buffet, the first time was a little too early at about 11:45. We’ve been trying to get there around 12:30 and it seems like we are just in time! The location did initially put me off, but the people and the food have taken me back several times. Don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Such tremendously sweet and attentive service and delicious food. Unreal. The veg are vegetarian and delicious, the fried catfish well seasoned and mild, and the fried chicken possibly the best I’ve ever had.

This treasure of Austin is remarkable. The family owned and run business not only provided home style delicious soul food, but the ultimate in customer service. The husband wife duo both went out of their way to make me feel at home. The owner walked me through the Buffett and then hade me a generous portion of catfish because none was on the line. Told me it was best served fresh. I visit Austin 2x a month and will make it a point to bring my Gal here. These guys rock !!!

Kind of a hard to find spot but definitely one worth finding! Walked in a bit past 11 and the food wasn’t yet ready… which gave me a bad vibe from the get go, however a man walked up, greeted us, charged us, and asked if we preferred Kool-Aid, Tea, or Water. The Kool-Aid was perfect, and I could tell they put extra sugar in just like any self respecting kool-aid drinker knows you should. The Sweet Tea was also tasty. They have a chromecast or something similar hooked up to a TV playing Netflix front & center. We waited 15 minutes or so for the food to be ready and watched Sixth Sense. I was a tad annoyed the food wasn’t ready when we arrived considering their hours are only 11 – 2 so it shouldn’t be difficult to be ready on time, but it was worth the wait for sure! The Mac & Cheese was great, very cheesy & obviously homemade. The Sweet Potatoes were delicious. The Baked Chicken was pretty good, had a good rosemary rub to it. The Catfish was the only dish I tried that was just okay, the breading was great but my cats were real skinny and there wasn’t much filet there. However, the main course, the fried chicken, was AMAZING! Probably the best Fried Chicken I’ve ever had and that dish alone made this place well worth it. Finally after my meal and during my relaxation period a woman walked up, cleaned our table, and asked if we would like dessert! I love desert and she explained it is included in the buffet so of course that was a Yes. Brownie Bites with Vanilla Ice Cream, another delicious serving. That was the icing on the cake to this trip. Between the perfect Kool-Aid, the outstanding Fried Chicken, the delectable Mac & Cheese(My favorite side), the dessert(My favorite part of any meal), and the price($ 9.99 per person, CHEAP!) this place was absolutely amazing and one of the best buffets I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying.

This place has been on my bookmarks for a while and I finally ventured here for lunch! It’s the store front right under the cinema sign. I actually passed it initially because there isn’t a sign per se and it’s just a neon open sign and easy to pass up! You walk in and pay at the counter. It was about $ 10.00 for the all you can eat lunch buffet and beverage. This isn’t a huge expansive buffet but, it’s homemade and what they do have is well made. The beverage choices are limited with your choice of sweet tea, non-sweet tea, water or kool aide. The buffet choices on my visit included fried chicken, fried catfish, cooked carrots, slaw, rice, black eyed peas, mac and cheese, mustard potato salad, cooked cabbage and maybe some others that I am forgetting. Let’s break down what I had! Fried Chicken: This was some of the best fried chicken that I have had in town! So good that I ate two breasts and a thigh! The seasoning wasn’t overpowering and gave it that nice browned crunch on the outside. Also, I have to say that the chicken breasts were so juicy that I couldn’t believe it. Slaw: The slaw was just plain cabbage with some vinegar on it and I usually don’t like vinegar slaw but, it wasn’t overpowering and let the fresh cabbage flavor shine through. I actually enjoyed it although it isn’t something I would order elsewhere. Rice: The rice was dry and chewy so, I really can’t recommend this side dish. Black Eyed Peas: Oh my gosh these blew me away. I am not really a bean person but, the flavor of these had me going back for seconds. Savory, well cooked and seasoned in a way that I have never tasted this dish anywhere else. This was one of my favorite sides! Mustard Potato Salad: This dish impressed me too because I don’t like mustard potato salad but, somehow they managed to make the mustard aspect minimal! Mac and Cheese: I felt my arteries clogging but, in a good way. There is definitely Velveeta cheese in it but, I think they also put shredded cheese in because it was so gooey and creamy it would make cheese lovers unite at the first bite! The server was very nice and refilled our drinks promptly and also took away our dirty plates with great manners. I feel like this is a family run operation all the way. There was a nice lady that came over and offered us a brownie dessert with cheese cake in the middle and topped with ice cream. I am not a dessert person so, I declined but, I loved the personal attention and service she gave us. I like when owners come over and chat with us and make sure everything is good who actually care! We sat and chatted for a while at the table after we were done and a little girl came over and started talking to us. From her we learned that her Pastor owns this restaurant and that she loves when it’s a special occasion and she gets to eat here! I love supporting local and we will definitely be back.

This place is the greatest. –The food is fantastic! I’ve been for dinner and during the lunch buffet — always tastes homemade and much better than I could make at home. I’m from Florida and this place has THEBESTDAMNCATFISH I’ve ever had. Catfish Parlour tastes like dirt compared to Southern Hospitality. –The staff is friendly — feels like a family reunion. I happened to go on the first night they opened for dinner and since the word hadnt gotten out yet, I was literally the only person in there. The Owner/Chef Fred came up and said«What can I make for you?». I then spent the next hour eating a huge plate of food and talking with his mother in law, Miss Lily. Go here. All the time. Just do it. –Tom

Funky little soul food restaurant in a shopping center. Kind of feels like you’re in a Sunday school classroom. There’s a painting of Jesus on the stage and a photo of Malcom X on the ceiling. As for the food, it’s pretty good and the portions are huge. They used to have a lunch buffet but now ordering is a la carte except for Fridays and Saturdays. The service is always very friendly.

The place is suffering growing pains, for sure, but that’s for the best of reasons– it’s growing. The food is great, the prices are low, the family that runs the restaurant is adorable(as a happily married woman, myself, watching a husband sneak away a few seconds during a busy shift to tell his wife he loves her gave me the feels), and did I mention the food is great? Seriously, the food. THEFOOD. They’ve outgrown their location, got the new one behind the Taj, and have had to switch from a buffet to a menu model, but if you can just accept that what you experienced last time you walked in the door might not be the same as what you get this time, but no matter what the food is going to be fantastic, then go. This is another one of those eateries I patronize as often as I can because I want them to succeed and I’m interested in seeing what they’re going to do next. Also? The food is DELICIOUS.

Southern Hospitality is a great spot if you love southern cooking or what I call«church dinner» cooking. It literally reminds me of every single church dinner that I went to growing up. Everything is made from scratch on premises… but the catfish is the best thing they’ve got. The chef at SH has really mastered catfish… they’re breaded and fried to perfection there… and I think it’s hands down the best that I’ve had since moving to the south from up north. The sides are great. The veggies are cooked without adding meat products to them, so if you’re strict about your diet, you don’t have to worry about having more ham in your green beans than green beans in your green beans. The service is also super great there. It’s family run and you feel like family when you go to eat there. Everyone is super nice and helpful if you ever need anything. I also went to their Christmas party, which was a discounted dinner with a dance floor and loved it. There was a great community vibe to the place that you really don’t get with other restaurants… but you would get at a church dinner. The downside to this place is the hours… if you want to go, it’s gotta be during lunch time… or you could get them to cater your events… It’s worth taking the time to go though.
