After a long flight and checking into the hotel, we wandered by Sauce N Spice hoping for a Masala Wok-like experience, but unfortunately Sauce N Spice just didn’t live up to that. The food was okay, if a bit heavy on the salty and heavy sauce, but the shop needed new paint, new booths, and a functioning soda machine(sodas are cans in a cooler next to the counter, and a cop with ice from the otherwise non-functioning soda machine). It wasn’t bad per-se, but it wasn’t terribly good either.

Not bad for the price but the quality of the food is definitely lacking. The ambiance is also not very appealing. If PF Changs and Panda Express had a kid, this is kind of what you’d get. Americanized asian food that’s just a bit too salty. It’s definitely filling and for $ 7 it’s not bad but if you have other options around I’d try those.

I’ve been to Sauce N spice twice, and think it’s a pretty good option for Indo-Chinese food in central Austin(all of the other Indo-Chinese joints are way up north). They actually have some American-Chinese dishes too, but I tend to stick with the spicier Chindian stuff. The Chicken 65 was very fresh, perfectly fried to a thin crispness and flavorful, even if not as spicy as I had requested it to be. The hakka noodles are fine and comforting. The shrimp tobajan was liked by all, even if a bit too much on the sweet n’ sour end for me. Delicious paneer fry. I’m not sure what’s up with the previous reviews. I haven’t had a bad experience here, either with service or the food. If you like your food spicier, make sure you really ask for it. I think this place is a great addition to the food options on the drag, and thankfully it’s not yet another boring chain restaurant. Check out their websites for some coupons.

This place isn’t very pretty. If I hadn’t already agreed to eat here, I would have probably taken my food to go. Or not eaten here at all. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, and the food was bland and oily. My gobi manchurian was super greasy, and the cauliflower was non-existent. The dish was mostly bits of batter. The boy ordered the broccoli and chicken, which didn’t fare any better. It was completely flavorless. Service was bad. Everything was bad. This place will fit right in on campus.

Pretty bland. They skimp on the flavor and skimp on the ingredients. Chicken was dry. Spice was nonexistent for a dish described as spicy.
