My boyfriend took me here the other day. I was skeptical, as all vietnamese people are of trying new viet places… especially a trailer! I have yet to find one that does it right, but Saigon Street is authentic! We ordered Vietnamese Iced Coffee — it was a delicious and perfectly blended coffee with the right amount of condensed milk for sweetness. I also got the banh mi which was served on a tasty, crunchy yet soft french roll and had copious fillings of pickled carrots/daikon and meat. We also shared the spring rolls which had the perfect ratio of veggies, vermicelli, and meat. Overall, we left happy and so satisfied! I wish they were in a better location, that’s the only downside, not an area with a great view or anything else around. But for a quick lunch/breakfast pick-up, I’d come again!

For my first express vietnamese food truck experience, I was so astonished at how all of the ingredients were fresh, friendly staff, and decent prices! I Shrimp and pork spring rolls: $ 4.25 for 3…5STARS! Nuoc Mam: Tasty! Not to sweet, but not too salty! I love it! Pork Banh Mi: Lots of flavor and toasty french bread. I really am craving this as I type… I feel like their concise menu is just perfect. The only think I would suggest is to add a chicken or beef option. There is shrimp and tofu, so lets serve everyone’s taste buds! I am surprised at the lack of business that I have seen here, possibly due to the random location. But overall they do a fine job at luring me back!

For a food truck this place isn’t bad! They have really fresh spring rolls and the Banh Mi’s are delicious as well. Still not the best Banh Mi in town so I will have to continue my search in Austin! Fast friendly service. Good food. No complaints here.

Do I go 4 stars because they don’t have enough seafood or vegetarian options, or do I stick with 5 because their food is both cheap and amaaaazing? I’m going with 5. I had the spring rolls. I could talk about how enormous they were, but I can see a whole string of TWSS jokes coming after that, so we’ll just leave it. They’re about $ 4.25 and you get 3! Everything I had was bursting with fresh basil and flavor. I even had a grilled shrimp skewer($ 2). I understand from other reviews that their bahn mi can be hit or miss. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll report back when I do. Dear Saigon, Please make a vegetarian or seafood phở(including the broth)! I will come by every god damn day if you do. Love, Ambie

just had a lemongrass tofu banh mi and eggrolls … the tofu is the perfect balance between sweet and savory, and i really like how its cut in small strips. i *think* i might like the tofu better than the grilled pork, but, i mean i still love the grilled pork a crap ton. eggrolls were great, standard fare. i mean how do you mess up an eggroll? i think i’ve only had 2 bad eggrolls in my life. eitherway, saigon street gets another super solid all 5 stars from me.

Excellent! I had their grilled pork spring rolls. Peanut sauce, good. Vegetables, goods. Will return again if I happen to be in the neighborhood.

I’ve been here a few times and I love everything. The phở is probably the best I’ve had here in Austin… clear, great taste, no msg, just a nice homemade phở which is so hard to find. And the lemongrass tofu is awesome. I’m definitely coming back as often as I can and you should, too! Just thought I’d update my review to include parking — they are located in a little parking lot next to a used car dealer and they’ve got about 5 – 6 parking spaces right next to them… very convenient.

The banh mi here is one of the best in town that’s also not over-priced. I always recommend the grilled pork sandwich(banh mi thit nuong), and at Saigon Street Food Truck, it’s almost as authentic as it can get. The grilled pork is well seasoned with great sweet, smoky and salty flavor. I do have some minor complaints: 1) Bun isn’t always toasted. I love my sandwiches fresh and hot. 2) Bun is slightly on the thick side. Not that it’s thick vertically(meaning you can bite into it with no problem), it’s thick horizontally. It just makes the sandwich more about the bread, rather than focusing on the ingredients inside. 3) Could use a little more pickled vegetables. I don’t get why Austin Vietnamese sandwiches always skip out on the veggies. It’s the glue that holds a great sandwich together. The bread invites you in. It says«Hello, I’m warm, toasty and delicious.» The meat makes you want more. It says«You know you like me, go ahead, take another bite.» And the veggies are there to make the experience smooth and not just a giant savory bite. They say«We’re really not needed, but aren’t you so happy we’re here too!» Anyways, that’s my banh mi rationale. However, if you’re down south, the drive is a bit far for banh mi. Might as well just go to Lulu B’s. Even though they’re more expensive and not as good. Oh, the eggrolls, spring rolls and pork spring rolls here are AWESOME. Try them.

i’ve come here 2 saturdays in a row and i love their weekend specials! all of their specials are homemade and really yummy. beef stew was the special last week and it was super delicious. for only $ 6, you get a generous helping of beef and carrots(sounds boring, but it’s really not), paired with rice or a baguette. the broth was tomato-ey with a hint of sweetness, the meat was really tender and the carrots were perfect. it was such a good deal because i was afraid that it wasn’t going to be filling or come with that much meat, but it far exceeded my expectations. the weekend special this time was the egg noodle soup($ 6). it came with tons of chicken and two shrimps. the broth was really flavorful and it was just a huge bowl of deliciousness. i’ve also had the egg rolls, combination fried rice, and the banh mi’s. their eggrolls are cheaper than any phở place(3 for $ 2.50), but i wish they had the sweet/sour fish sauce to go with it. the portions are great and the prices are even better. if you want to eat there, you might want to get there before the lunch rush because there’s only 2 tables at most outside. parking is a little troublesome because you kind of have to make your own spot, but it’s totally worth it.

Wow! First time here and it’s REALLY good! Had the char grill pork bun’ and the egg rolls, cuz everyone was raving about them. Pork was grilled perfectly and was a generous portion. Vegetables were über-fresh and sized just right when you mix it all up. They included chili paste and sweet chili sauce in my to-go box which was great. Have to remember to ask for Sriracha next time. Great egg rolls too. Cheap and delicious! Couldn’t eat it all, though!

i got my eggrolls with fish sauce instead of the sweet and sour packet… and i didn’t even have to ask for it! yaaaay!!! everything is still solid and delicious. LOVE their specials and haven’t been disappointed yet. they take credit cards now, too. VERY helpful when you are placing a big order and don’t have that much cash on you(like today for me!). i still prefer to pay them with cash when i can to avoid them having to deal with credit card company transaction fees.

I have been in search for a good banh mi since I moved to Austin from Houston 13 years ago. I like the cold cut one at Baquette House but the grilled pork banh mi is no good. Grilled Pork Banh Mi Review(I didn’t have anything else): Fresh Mayonnaise — check Meat — check(tastes pretty authentic if not a bit sweet) Pickled Vegs — check(and doesn’t taste weird like Lulu B’s) Cilantro — check Cucumber — check Jalapeño — check Soy Sauce — on the side, but I understand they didn’t want to make the bread soggy. Pepper — none, but that can be easily overcome Bread — STALE… ugh! Definitely worth another try. I just need to figure out when they get fresh bread.

Banh mi was great. Egg rolls were wonderfully crispy & tasty with no hint of grease. Can’t wait to go back & try the Phở(weekend special only)! 4 stars for the food. The extra star because Ann helped me navigate the menu.

While I have several go-to places for Phở and Bun/Vermicelli bowls(Phở Saigon and Kim Phung), I’ve yet to find a Banh Mi sandwich in Austin that hit the spot(Thanh Mi, Tam, Baguette House, Bite Mi are all just okay in my book) So I was psyched the Saigon Street Food Truck opened up in my ‘hood — specializing in street food and offering up three takes on Banh Mi — chargrilled pork, spiced pork, and lean pork. Other menu items included shrimp spring rolls, char-grilled shrimp skewers, a fried rice dish, and a couple of vegetarian offerings. I don’t think anything was north of $ 6. The truck is on the west side of Airport Blvd just south of North Loop — it’s across from the Cash Pawn America and a little north of House Pizzeria. Hours are Tues-Sat 11−6PM. My wife and I tried the chargrilled pork and spiced pork varieties and really liked both. Great soft bread. Pickled veggies were perfect. Both the chargrilled pork and spiced pork(like a pork meatball) had great flavor. I could’ve used a little more heat in both — if you like heat, I’d suggest adding some Sriracha sauce. The portion and price is right($ 3-$ 4) as well. The egg rolls(3 for $ 2) and char-grilled shrimp skewer($ 2) are both solid as is the Thai Iced Tea($ 2) which surprisingly comes in a tallboy can. I’m hoping they’ll eventually add a standard Banh Mi sandwich to the menu(none of the three offering has pork pâté on it). The one menu item I found just so-so is the char-grilled pork over vermicelli($ 6). The vermicelli and fish sauce were good but the pork wasn’t very good. Pales in comparison to other places in Austin. I’ll be sticking with Banh Mi going forward. Coming on the heels of Kome’s opening down the road, it looks like Airport Blvd is finally branching out from just standard American/Mexican/Pizza fare(Burger Tex’s bulgogi burger notwithstanding). Great to see and just hope all the government workers in the area give this a try.

Loved it! Had the char-grilled pork over rice. It’s not fancy, just delicious and simple. I wish there had been more lettuce/cucumber/tomato. But it tasted great, service was nice and fast, and I will definitely be going back!
