I had never been in this building before but some coworkers recently ate here and said it was good. I walked in and was shocked at how big the place is considering it looks so small on the outside. I was happy to see 7 – 8 tables of people because it usually looks empty in the parking lot. The menu has daily specials ranging from $ 7 – 9 as well as lunch specials for $ 6.25. I chose #4 — cheese enchilada, crispy taco, guacamole salad, and chile con queso. As I waited on my food I sampled the chips and salsa. The chips came out warm but were stale. The salsa tasted like Pace picante sauce — mild. The plate arrived and I went straight to the queso. Not good. Tasted like«pump nacho cheese». The enchilada was average. It came on a plastic plate which led me to believe it was made in a microwave. The guacamole was scant but tasty. The star of the show was the crispy taco. It was in what appeared to be a crispy shell that was fried in-house. This made it crispy but slightly chewy and didn’t shatter into a million pieces once bitten. The beef was well seasoned and the veggies were fresh. The taco really saved the meal. Service was outstanding, prompt, very nice and attentive. Three stars based on the taco and service alone. It’s another alternative to all the other Mexican places around and I may be back, probably to try their breakfast. But I don’t see this as a place I will put on my regular rotation.

I tried the place this morning. I am not a breakfast taco guy. Mainly I don’t like breakfast food. I ordered a combination plate that consists of a beef enchilada, a crispy taco, tamale, rice and beans. I also ordered corn tortillas on the side. A great meal that came out really fast. Great service and my tea glass never got half empty before it was filled again. They even gave me a large cup of tea to go. Overall a very good experience. The only negative I had, was, I was never offered any chips and salsa. I can only figure that they don’t offer them to you at 10:00AM.

Great Mexican food served with a smile. I had the barbacoa plate with sweet tea. The complimentary chips and salsa whetted my appetite perfectly for the delicious melt-in-your-mouth beef and homemade corn tortillas. Both were fantastic. The complementing beans, rice, avocado and lettuce were fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, I was the only customer on a weekday afternoon in the surprisingly huge dining area. The quality of the food being prepared here definitely warrants a packed house of happy patrons with tummies packed full of great meals. I’ll be back and I recommend you do the same.

Ok, I only stopped in for one taco — which is not enough to judge a restaurant by. But if my taco was any guide, this place could be really top of the line. I had a lengua taco, hold the cilantro. First the fact that they HAVE lengua means this is a mexican place and not a yuppie place. Immediate street cred. The lengua was magnificently cooked. The salsa verde was first rate. The server hemmed and hawed when I asked if it was homemade. But even if they are using a supplier, their sauce supplier is first rate. The tortillas were top of the line — light as a feather with a delicate but noticeable corn taste. Altogether superior stuff. The place is huge, and when I went in(around 11 am) the place was deserted. I hope they do better at breakfast and lunchtime. They have a good kitchen.

You need to go there. I went during lunch and I was the only person there. People need to come and try them. Easy to find, people are friendly and food it good. They really take care of you there.

The nachos supreme was pretty good. The only thing negative I can say is that the cahsier/server seemed bothered to be there. I try to reserve reviews for a place that I’ve been two twice, but between the half-ass service, to automatically making my order to go(it’s standard to ask), messing it up when there was no reason to(it was barely anyone in there), I won’t be back anytime soon. I knew I should have went to Fuzzy Taco down the street :(

This is a great little neighborhood spot for breakfast(I’ve only been for breakfast). They’ve worked out some kinks since opening, and the service my most recent visit was great(not that it was ever poor). I really liked the chips and salsa and the tortillas and potatoes that come with the huevos a la Mexicana.

Yeah! Margarita, the owner of Jasmine’s Mexican Restaurant in Del Valle, across from the Austin Airport, has opened a second location. Great for those who stay north or north central! Went in and had a breakfast plate that hit the spot. I love supporting local business and am excited to see her business grow! Drop in and support Del Valle’s secret!
