The pasta I ordered came hot! Which was good for the cold day out… Perhaps it is what I ordered but I didn’t find the amazing Italian experience I was hoping for. The sauce was actually watery(I wonder if it had just previously been thawed and microwaved hence why it was piping hot for awhile) and the fillings I had in the ravioli just didn’t have much flavor. I was with someone else who ordered the meatballs with spaghetti and she raved about it so I’m thinking maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. And it was probably the priciest food I ordered in Austin during our trip…

I was really excited to try this place during my visit to Austin, and I have to say it is the biggest disappointment I experienced on my trip. I had the cheese ravioli with bolognese sauce, and it was just all around bad: rubbery pasta, flavorless sauce, oddly half melted tiny squares of cheese. Ugh.

We were in Austin about a month ago and I’m still dreaming about the ravioli I had here.

My fiancé and I tried Regal Ravioli on a random Saturday. The food truck is positioned in a parking lot with an adjacent pizza food truck, 40 North. We were lucky to find it was not very busy when we arrived, so there was no wait to order. We ended up ordering cheese ravioli with red sauce as well as cheese ravioli with the gouda sauce. Both were good, however I think we both preferred the red sauce. Next time we go however, we would likely try the gouda sauce over a meat ravioli as the cheese on cheese was probably a bit much(as we were warned when ordering, lol). The pasta was cooked well, not too firm, not too soft and the portion size was good. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the ravioli, but being from NY we have a bit different expectations. It was good, but not great. It’s a nice lunch time meal and you get a nice portion for the price. We would come back.

For a place that calls itself the«Ravioli King,» their signature dish is pretty underwhelming. Coming from the Northeast and loads of fabulous Italian restaurants, I admit my standards for pasta and for ravioli in particular are pretty high. Seeing the reviews of this place made me enthusiastic that I was about to revisit those delicious experiences, but after trying it — really, can this be the best that Austin has to offer? The first time I ordered the mushroom ravioli, as I love this version when it’s made well. Crimini and portobello are the best, and I go cuckoo for goat cheese. This was sorely disappointing for mushroom ravioli. It had almost no flavor, probably because the cheese was nowhere to be found. Had it been there, it could have given this dish the creamy taste that normally makes it a winner. Instead I didn’t even get all the ingredients I paid for — and for a food truck it’s not cheap at $ 12. I also felt the portion was too small for its pricey tag: You essentially receive a little tin with a limited amount of little ravioli pieces. Not really enough to fill me up. The garlic bread was delicious, with plenty of butter and herb soaked in to chewy bread. But seriously, if that’s my favorite part of the meal, that’s not encouraging. I gave it another try later, going back to basics and ordering the cheese ravioli with a bolognese sauce. They did put the cheese in this time — thankfully, because there would have been nothing but pasta shell otherwise. But it was again disappointing; both ravioli and sauce were mediocre. All the meat in the bolognese sounded mouth-watering when I ordered, but the sauce was mainly tomatoes and the meat had mild flavor at best. The use of lemon zest for seasoning sounded intriguing, but it created an odd taste(I’m not a fan of sweet ravioli) and ended up further detracting from the dish. Honestly, when you account for price you might just be a better off with Chef Boyardee because this wasn’t much better. I know that sounds harsh, but it’s important that an eatery specializing in pasta can make a good product. Anyway, this is a definite«no» for me. The menu sounds excellent but simply falls flat in execution. Just not sure what others see here.

Wow! Tried this place for the first time last week and was blown away! The order took some time, but it was worth the weight. The ravioli was cooked to the proper tenderness and it wasn’t soaked in sauce, like most American restaurants. I had the cheese ravioli with pecan pesto sauce and it was A+++.

Ordered Mushroom ravioli with gouda voulette sauce. Now the mushroom ravioli is described as having«crimini and portobello mushrooms and goat cheese». I did not see any cheese instead, nor any evidence of. No white melted puddles inside, no chunks, no taste of it either. Also the mushrooms were severely undercooked to the point where they were still a little crunchy. You’d expect a gouda sauce to be really thick and creamy, but this was watery af. Also bland, like they forgot a dash of salt that brings it all together. I understand they’re skimping on the higher priced ingredients, but for $ 12, you’d think it’d be OK. Trying to save it, I asked for an extra side of marinara, citing that I didn’t like the wateriness of the Gouda. I was charged $ 1 for half a 4oz cup of tomatoes. Whatever. Huge chunks of raw garlic, no green flecks of basil or any other green herb. Still no bueno. I think, hey, there’s no way this is what they really serve and take it up, asking if it is supposed be. Told him my complaints, asked if they had any spices/herbs that were used in it. He said no, that’s the way it’s supposed to be. Now to his credit, he did ask if I wanted anything else. But given my friend wasn’t too impressed with his dish, and my general complaint being it’s blandness, I said no. And he shrugged and said bye. So fine, I get it. I ordered food and tried something new, that costs money. But at this point I’ve now dropped $ 15($ 12 mushroom, $ 1 water, $ 1 sauce, $ 1 regrettable tip) and am left still hungry after barely finishing two tiny ravioli pieces. Huge mistake. Never again.

Came here for lunch on a week day with a few coworkers. The parking is located right next to the trailer and there is ample parking. The food trailer has covered seating area with lots of benches. The food is priced semi high but when you see the portions it makes sense. I ordered the cheese ravioli with the meat sauce, it comes with garlic bread(which is three pieces for a side order as well). The portion size was huge, there were a ton of raviolis, the container was filled. They are the smaller size, the size of a silver dollar. But they were good. Everything was good, but nothing was amazing where it made me feel like I would want to make a special trip back. My co-workers got the meatball sub, and it was huge, but to me I tried a bite, it was okay as well. The workers are friendly, they bring your order out to you.

I can’t believe that I haven’t written a review about this place yet. I absolutely love it here, so much so that the boyfriend, dog and I go every Friday night. We’re creatures of habit and always order the Cheese Raviolli with Bolognese sauce and a meatball sub. The cheese ravioli is delicious and has the slightest hint of lemon that makes the taste a bit more complex and wonderful. The bolognese sauces is flavorful, but light enough to not overpower the taste of the ravioli. As for the meatball sub, it too is delicious. The sauce is great and the meatballs, in my opinion, have the perfect amount of garlic. I also highly recommend the Butternut Squash Raviolli with Gouda sauce. Honestly, I haven’t been disappointed with anything that I’ve ordered. This is the perfect spot for an inexpensive date night. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and you can BYOB/W or both. The tented area with market lights give it a bit of unpretentious romantic ambiance. Go now(because it Saturday and you won’t be in my way)!

Best ravioli ever! Got the cheese with pesto, extra garlic bread of course! Layers upon layers of flavor. Garlic, lemon, pesto, fresh cheese. You could tell the pasta was super fresh too. Some authentic Italian flavors they got goin on here! Just finish it up with some gordoughs across the street and you’ve got yourself an awesome night!

Maybe the best ravioli I’ve ever had, and from a food truck no less! Seriously, this place is an Austin must! Get here, like now!

Not too shabby! I love that the Austin Passbook has brought me to places that I otherwise never would have tried before. Why don’t more food trucks hop on board with this??? My friend and I used the 2 for 1 deal in my Passbook to try the sausage filled ravioli with marinara sauce and the cheese filled ravioli with bolognese sauce. The sausage ravioli were BIG pieces whereas the cheese ravioli were smaller(but more of them). The sausage was my favorite; the cheese with the bolognese had a distinct taste that I couldn’t get used to, but my friend liked it a lot. The bread that comes with both meals was excellent — light and crispy and good for dipping into the sauces. I’m not a huge ravioli eater in general, so I probably won’t make the journey back here unless it’s put on next year’s Passbook again. But Regal Ravioli is still A-OK in my book.

4 years after my initial review I am still a fan! I hadn’t been here in awhile and honestly, I was working at 7th flag and got hungry, I was going to cross the street to get Dock & roll but it was closed so just decided to go next door instead! Sometimes I am torn between trying something new or eating something I’ve eaten before, but It was probably a wiser decision because crossing South 1st during rush hour traffic is very scary! I ordered the special, which was pulled pork ravioli with a cilantro cream sauce. It was worth waiting and sitting out in the heat for! The sauce was light and I could still taste the filling. A lot of places that have ravioli(or even the frozen kind) skimp out on the filling but this was a perfectly plump ravioli and I thought it was perfectly cooked. One serving is more than enough for one person. I’ve been working from 7th Flag a lot and it’s conveniently located next door so I would definitely recommend coming here for lunch if you are next door. Personally, I have no problems with the price especially for the quality of the ingredients. Anywhere you go on S.1st has entrees(even appetizers) for around the same price, but I am very happy to support this little food truck.

I have been by this place a lot since moving to the ’04, but this is my first visit. The area is great due to the parking available and the large shade trees that hover above the covered picnic tables. These are enough reasons for you to come check this place out. The ravioli I had was the mushroom ravioli with pesto. This comes with a few slices of garlic bread. The ravioli was ok. The pasta did taste/feel like it was fresh, but it lacked flavor. With pesto the taste is almost sharp with basil or parsley, but this pesto was bland. It was almost like it was just olive oil. That being said, it was decent. The garlic bread was great, but it is hard to mess that up. This may sound like a harsh review, but I will definitely be returning to try something else from their past filled menu.

An Italian Food Truck! The ravioli is delicious and very well made. The bolognese sauce is so tasty and the ingredients taste fresh. The bread was amazing. This place is BYOB and it’s got a great little tent to offer shade. The food came out rather quickly as well and the staff was friendly. The only bathroom is a port a potty and finally it’s right next to the 40* North pizza truck. I wanna try more stuff off the menu! They had some tasty sounding specials.

There is absolutely nothing spectacular about this place, and for the price, we won’t be coming back. Started out with a ceasar salad. Good portion size, nice ceasar, clearly homemade croutons and fresh tomatoes. I also ordered cheese ravioli with marinara. The sauce had no flavor whatsoever and was only good after I added a liberal amount of red pepper flakes from the pizza trailer next door. The only positive? You get lots of ravioli. Enough for a small person to make two meals of it. Not to mention, three large pieces of garlic bread. My S.O. ordered the mushroom ravioli with the gouda sauce. He felt that his pasta was undercooked. He thought mine tasted like Chef Boyardee. These three things costs $ 33. Yikes.

I love Austin and all the food trucks! If you search for food in Austin South you will most likely get food trucks over restaurants. This one is pretty good for some yummy Italian food. It is BYOB so stop at the store first, grab a drink, and then head across the street for some donuts.

Interesting Concept. We ordered the sausage ravioli with the marinara sauce. The ravioli tasted good, but nothing spectacular. We also had garlic bread. The portion was plenty to share. The service was good and the place is a casual place to meet up.

A gutsy move to open a ravioli food truck. Service, menu and location were all good. Plenty of other options nearby on south 1st street. The cashier also let us try a sample. Tried the beet ravioli with pesto and mushroom with Gouda sauce. The ravioli was really fresh and I could really taste the fillings unlike the frozen brands. The cooking was a little underwhelming for me. The ravioli was slightly undercooked and sauce was not to my spice level, then again I have an Indian palette. Served with garlic bread which was a nice accompaniment but had no garlic at all. But hey, how many places can you find gourmet Italian at a food truck? Austin rocks. Go for it.

One of my favorite places I tried using my handy Austin Passbook(bunch of BOGO deals from food trailers in Austin). The deal here at Regal was buy 1 order of cheese ravioli(any sauce) and get 1 free(can be different sauces). So $ 13 post tax/tip for two good sized portions of delicious ravioli? Awesome. The sauces the GF and I decided on were the bolognese and pesto. Both were very good. The ravioli themselves were cooked perfectly, with a good ratio of stuffing/dough. It was a good amount of sauce as well. Not skimpy, not drowning in sauce. Both of the sauces had great flavor. The GF liked the bolognese better; I preferred the pesto. I assumed it may be a smaller portion since we were using the passbook; wrong. FULLSIZEDBOGOFTW! Didn’t count how many ravioli were in each order… but I’d guess it was 12 – 15 pieces. While the Passbook is what brought us in, the food is what will keep us coming back.
