I’ve been taking voice lessons from Larisa for a few months now, and she’s everything you could want in a music teacher. She’s knows her craft well, communicates clearly, and has a keen ear. She also keeps lessons lively, makes concepts easy-to-remember, and is always organized and well-prepared. She also has a knack for delivering a wealth of material without ever being overwhelming. I can’t speak about the other teachers, but having taken many music lessons from many people and having taught in the classroom myself, it’s obvious that Larisa is a real gem. You’ll learn a lot from her!

I’ve been taking 1-on-1 guitar lessons and group classes with Geno at Red Leaf for a year now. I’ve taken lessons in music since I was a kid, and I can honestly say that this place and these lessons have been the most rewarding. Back in the day, when I first started taking lessons for brass, everything was by the book and very classically taught. You learned your scales, you learned your positions, notes, sheet music, arpeggios, etc. etc. It was easy to get bored or discouraged, especially if you felt like things were going nowhere. With Geno, he very astutely decided to take the opposite approach with me when it came to my lessons. We started with just trying to have fun and put me in a position to play things that sounded like actual music right out of the gate. That gave me enough confidence to take chances, navigate down paths I wouldn’t have taken myself, and really make music that I’ve at least heard of before if not outright loved. The group classes gave me the opportunity to play with other people and learn how to put a gig together. In most cases, the other instructors Chris and Emily will help out to round out songs so they sound great. The class culminates in a low-pressure performance at the Rocking Tomato that was my favorite experience from this journey thus far. All-in-all, Geno and Red Leaf reignited my passion for performing that had laid dormant for almost five years. I found them here on Unilocal, and I’m so glad that I did. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking to enjoy the time-honored pleasure of making music.

My 11 yo daughter has been attending Red Leaf for about 7 months and has loved every minute of it! Her regular voice teacher, Emily, is awesome with her and very flexible with me when i have to move around lesson times. She also just did their summer music session that had her form a band with a final performance at a local joint. SOMUCHFUN! Loved getting to see all her hard work come to life! Thanks Chris and Gino!

Huge disappointment. I’m an adult. I signed up for lessons and paid in advance. They lectured me like a child about cancelling at the last minute. Huh? You already have my money! Okay, so I schedule lessons for a regular weekly time. But wait, at the first lesson, the teacher tells me that he has to miss about six weeks here and there coming up because he’s doing shows with his band. Okay, cool, it will just take a little longer to work through my 14 lessons. But then he starts cancelling on nights that he’s supposed to be there. Okay, so they find another teacher, and then that guy starts cancelling. Oh, and thanks for letting me drive halfway there before calling me to cancel! I finally say«enough» and ask for a refund for the unused lessons. «We’ll mail you a check.» That never happened. I guess they’re nice enough, and I imagine that they’re good musicians, but they can’t do advanced, complex tasks like tell time, count, or hold up their end of a contract. Go get free music lessons on the internet and avoid the frustration.

We love Red Leaf. Both our children(ages 10 and 12) have taken lessons at Red Leaf and have participated in group lessons and summer camp. If you are looking for a place to accommodate your child’s learning style and goals, Red Leaf is the place for you.
