Great place for brews and burgers. The Wagyu burger is the best. Well worth the extra buck or two for fabulous taste treat. Really appreciate that the owner supports local brewers and ranchers who also happen to be UT Alumni with his establishment and menu offerings.

Cheap prices for food and beverage choices for days– those reasons alone should compel you to check out Posse East. But what sold me is the interior. Super awesome. Wood paneling, bookshelves stacked high with random tomes, and board games to play. The food was solid, and there are a decent number of TVs to turn on the game. I really liked this place and felt right at home. Check it out!

Good bar with good food! Ordered a cheeseburger with some fries on the side. Nothing out of this world, but the atmosphere made up for it! The selection of beers is big too. Tried the Austin Pearl Snap, and enjoyed it. Not a big beer drinker, but it was enjoyable! I like that there is plenty of patio space, especially since the weather in Austin is beautiful right now. Be warned: there is not much parking around this area! I had to park in the neighborhood and walk over.

The food is mediocre. But on gamedays this is a great place to meet up before a UT football game. Beers on tap, lots of tvs, great location to the stadium, and the prices are great. I’ve always been a big fan!

Pretty chill inexpensive little bar and grill. Nothing too special, but I definitely wouldn’t mind returning.

Typical hangout near campus. terrible parking. ok food. Nice patio. Ordered the Wagyu burgers. disappointed. the bun was bigger than my burger patty and having lived in japan, the burger wasn’t the same consistency you would come to expect from«wagyu» beef skip the fancy burger and go with a regular burger with fries

This place might be one of my favorite burger joints in Austin. Very low key and has a great patio! We might of had a little more of an emotional tie to this place as my boyfriend was a member of the fraternity across the street. He loved this place and claims he spent too much money and nights here. The burger was delicious! I just got a cheeseburger with onion rings. It was perfectly cooked and has a wait time similar to whataburger, long but worth it. The inside is all made of wood and has a fun game/book area in the back.

Whoops– It is two blocks further down the road and not hidden inside Posse East. This is a normal beer and rail drink divey sports bar with large covered patio and tons of TV screens. It’s a game day location and also fun for trivia night that I stumbled upon. Tap list had a few interesting local beers, but the only thing worth drinking was Austin Pearl Snap, which seems to be ubiquitous. So not too impressive. They didn’t have tasters of course, but grudgingly let me try a splash of an unknown pale lager.

This is definitely the best place to watch any UT games, especially football games! I also love to spend my Sundays here during football season, fantasy football. As far as the food, it is definitely underrated. Posse queso is one of my favorites in town, if not my absolute favorite. Everything is great though, burgers, the nachos, steak sandwich, tacos, the sheriff, so much great food at an affordable price.

Too warm inside, only 3 covered outside tables with the signs are non-smoking, «the rest are cool», as per an employee. I didn’t want to get interrupted from my food, so, I just left without ordering. I’d be happy to come back if a smoke free environment was more of a thing here.

My husband is a grad student and this has very quickly become our favorite happy hour spot near campus. The bartenders are great and nice, it’s not too loud(still loud, it’s a bar), there are great TVs for watching the game, good prices and highly underrated food. Seriously, I’ve never had anything that didn’t taste good there. I definitely love this as my place to meet up with my husband and friends, grab a pitcher and a mushroom burger with fries on a Friday after work.

I have tried their garden burger, spicy chicken burger, fried mushrooms, fish& chips. All are pretty good, and more importantly, their service is extremely GOOD. I like them for what they are, hence five stars.

Being back in Austin for recruiting has reminded me of all my old favorite hang outs. I loved coming out here for sporting events, random lunches, and evening bites. The burgers here are le-git, and the beers are flowing for cheap. During UT games, they play the fight song, chants, and everything. Everyone here is pretty much a huge Longhorn fan, so the environment is super fun and relaxed. The service here is pretty good. The staff has been here forever, and the food comes out pretty quickly even when they seem quite busy. It’s a very home-town kind of place with a Southern charm. The guy who calls our your name when your food is ready has that perfect twang, and something about this place just makes you feel like you’re home. Lastly, they have some old board games here if you want to kill some time with friends during lunch in between classes. Most of them are missing pieces here and there, but it’s a good time, and I’ve won many a Scrabble game here. All in all, pluses for nostalgia, beer selection($ 2.50 domestic pints on the weekend!), and a pretty damn good burger.

If you want to watch Texas sports near campus, Posse East is hard to beat for the north campus area. Lots of outdoor seating, cheap Texas beers on draft, and a solid burger + fries for just over $ 6. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten anything else on the menu. The staff seems to be a perennial constant and food prep is always quite quick. Happy hour is from 2−7pm Mon-Fri and all-day Sat-Sun with $ 2.50 pints domestic drafts(yay college!). Monday also has $ 3 pints of Texas Craft brews.

I already wrote my favourable review of Crown & Anchor, so now it’s Posse’s turn. This is the place I go near campus when I actually want to watch sports(NFL for me). They play the sound here, and have plenty of TVs that they will adjust to your game and volume. The staff is awesome: fast, friendly service and they accommodate people watching lots of different games. One time I left my wallet in the bathroom and they tracked me down before I left without it! The beer and food are cheap and totally serviceable. Their nachos are better than Crown & Anchor’s. I often get a bison burger($ 7) with fries. My husband loves the cheeseburger with sliced jalapenos($ 6) and the seasoned Posse chips. I always see tons of people with the chips and salsa and the queso. The specials are good, with $ 2.50 pints of domestic beer until 7pm and some reduced snack prices. They also have other beer specials on different nights of the week. I rarely pay more than $ 3 for a pint here, and their regular prices are low. As a few other people have mentioned, the crowd here is not only students. You’d feel at home here if you were seventy or twenty-one. It’s loud, but I’ve never seen anyone be obnoxious here, and I’ve never seen it overrun with frat guys. A very comfortable and chill place to watch a game in my experience. Advice: stick to «bar stuff» at this bar. My only bad experiences here have come from ordering fancy on-tap beer, which was oddly flat, probably because no one was ordering it, and from ordering a turkey sandwich(I wanted to be healthy!), which was extremely«meh.» Go with the cheaper domestic beers and the bar food. That’s what they do best.

Nice place to hang out and watch the game with friends. I ordered the fish tacos and they were slamming.

Comfortable patio seats. Homestyle food. Texas beers on draft. You can hear the crowd roar from DKR Memorial stadium down the street. The same friendly guys working year after year. This place gets it right.

The best thing I like about this place is it’s so close to campus but in a much quieter and more relaxed area than the Drag. They have a mid-sized range of beers on tap. The ambiance is pretty nice and casual(esp. the outdoor seating which I like). They have trivia on some days of the week. The food is not so great though. We ordered fish and chips or a fish burger once, don’t remember what, because it was very unmemorable. The only thing I eat regularly here are the beef nachos. That’s good, but even that is sometimes cold. Service is nice and prompt. Overall, it’s one of my favourite places to chill with friends, mainly because of the atmosphere.

Working at UT, this is one of my standard go-to places for lunch. The food is good and cheap(nothing exciting or particularly healthy, mind you, but definitely comforting in its consistency), the staff is nice, and there is ample seating both inside and outside. There is a decent selection of beer, and most pitchers won’t break the bank, and no matter the length of time between visits, the staff knows my name and usual order, an impressive feat given the number of people who come here. Standouts — Posse Chips, sliced jalapenos, and the Posse Salad(though, it seems they’ve changed the size on that recently). There is also a wall of books you can peruse and borrow, and they’ve got several board games you can play with over lunch or pints. Reading Trivial Pursuit cards used to be a grand lunchtime event here. It’s not necessarily a place I’d take out of town guests or recommend as a potential spot for a night out with friends, but it IS one of the few UT-area places I’ve hit after work and on weekends, for a quick pint and a nosh.

Aaaaah… College. For me this is one of those places where, as a Longhorn, I leave with that acute nostalgia for my alma mater. I love venturing to this part of campus, streets I used to walk, beer I used to drink… college boys I used to avoid after drinking and walking streets. One of my favorite places to watch a UT game, enjoy the patio in good weather and leave paying a tab that favors the college kid’s budget. Extreme casual atmosphere with no fuss.
