Really torn on these guys. While Popeyes is one of my favorite guilty pleasures, this place is so bad with the little things. The one thing This fried chicken place could do to greatly improve service is have actual fried chicken ready for customers. I’m not sure what else people Oder here but it seems every time I come they act surprised that I ordered fried chicken at Popeyes fried chicken. Then they have you wait for it. Then they get your order right about 50% of the time. Moral of the story: maybe call ahead and give these guys a heads up that you’ll be ordering fried chicken. And always check your order.

Spicy food, smallish pieces, decent pricing, this location has had the A/C out of order the last two times I went so even though I wanted to dine in. .. take out was the only realistic option, staff was not the most helpful either, they seemed slow and disorganized.

Tbe people here are friendly and its always clean. They recently spruced up the inside dining area. It does take a little bit to get your chicken if you catch them when they are cooking a new batch or at off hours but I would rather have that that get chicken thats been under a warming lamp for an hour. I try to go to this one because none of the others in town are as nice, clean, timely & accurate with your order. I have gotten rather dry hard biscuits a few times and sweetened tea when i wantex unsweet. They’ve been good about correcting this so now I just double check before I leave the window. It is however a fast food restaurant so if you want a thrilling & memorable dining experience it’s not here. The reviews seem harsh so please know it’s better than that.

I used to go by this store 3 – 5 times weekly at the drive thru on my lunch hour. I understand it’s busy but that’s where my understanding ends. The person taking the order cannot speak tolerable English. In America. That could be another lesson for another day but I digress.(Have you called the phone number and listened to the voice message? If not, make the call and you’ll completely understand the frustration here) They greet you in an extremely hurried fashion. Obviously I am interrupting their time. Sometimes they forget I’m there after giving them my order. Other times, they fail to ask what kind of drink I would like with my meal. Once I get to the window, I have to tell them again what I would like to drink because they cannot understand me.(Sweet tea is a tough nut to crack I suppose) Then my food is all but shoved at me. Rarely do I get a receipt. NEVER a thank you and heaven forbid any type of smile or even eye contact. Sometimes you have to request a spoon for your red beans and almost always, a straw for your drink. I love Popeye’s food but quite honestly, there are other businesses in West Lake Hills that would be happy for me to give them $ 10 for lunch. It appears from the look of the other reviews posted here that I am not alone on this. How sad — the Franchisee Owner needs to let every staff member go and start over with a new crew. I’m afraid that’s the only way they’re going to get their customer service issues resolved.

Service sucks, honestly, people have ONEJOB!, put food tbat is ordered into a box, no more, no less. Went to this popeyes, asked for two 5 count chicken tender dinners, one box had 3 pieces, the other had 4. One job.

We frequent this Westlake Popeye’s maybe 3 – 4 times year because we get a craving for fried chicken and there are no other choices in the area. Every time, we pledge not to return. This fast food restaurant has NEVER gotten our order correct. The current workers cooking the chicken cannot understand the orders that come up on the screen because they don’t speak English(first clue?). So we decided if we physically go inside to place our to go orders(instead of the drive-thru), we can at least get them to correct our order before getting all the way home. So far, they have a consistent track record…100% messing up our orders no matter what we do. Hint: you cannot tell if your chicken is spicy or mild by just«eyeballing» and inevitably we get home and have whatever they decide to throw in the boxes. Their motto s/b: «Have it our way, or too bad!»

There is no reason service has to be this bad, constantly. I have never come here and have had good service. Today, they gave me the wrong order. I brought it back, opened the box, picked-up the old cold fish to show them that there was no shrimp, and they took it BACKBEHIND the counter. The lady behind the counter told the manger that she put in extra fish b/c the shrimp wasn’t ready and she had to get the order out. WhAT??? Smh. I just hope they didn’t give that box to anyone else.

I pulled into the drive-thru at about 9:49. No one came on the speaker. After a couple of minutes I saw someone locking the front door, so I drove up to the window. There I sat, gazing in the window where food was still cooking. Eventually, someone wandered by the window and saw me looking inside and I could see them mouthing«we’re closed!» I looked at my watch to see it was still only 9:56, so basically they decided to stop waiting on drive-through customers a full 10+ minutes before closing time. Based on the other reviews I’m not surprised. #FAIL

Consistent food quality and extremely bad service. I always have to wait for chicken to be fried for my order. When the order is wrong, there is no apology, only excuses. Frustrating!

I have been to Popeye’s all over Austin, pretty much. This is hands down the friendliest, cleanest, speediest in service one I have EVER been to anywhere. If you’re going to eat at a Popeye’s, just make the drive and go here; these people actually care about customer service! THANKYOU!!!

I would say that I typically give most restaurants the benefit of the doubt if something goes awry, but in Popeye’s case I feel compelled to share my «less than average» experience with others. Firstly, my expectations for Popeyes are not that high(no offense to Popeyes as a brand) and I would be more than gracious to give a 5 star review if the basic standards were met, such as timeliness, fair quality of food, and decent customer service. This particular Popeyes failed all three categories as a whole. For three pre-cooked pieces of chicken, 2 biscuits and mashed potatoes, I waited 20 minutes for a woman to look up at the screen and acknowledge the mere existence of my order. She was begrudgingly apologetic and completely insincere. I carried my food away from the counter(apparently having it delivered is too much to ask after wasting 20 minutes of my ostensibly precious time) and discovered that my mashed potatoes were cold, and the biscuits were rock solid. «We’re closing in 45 minutes» was the only response I received when I disputed the quality of my food. I asked politely(I could have very easily been a major a**hole) to speak with the manager. Fred, who is, in my opinion, the only saving grace in that entire establishment carried the message to the manager with sincere regret that my experience was less than stellar. Needless to say, the poor customer service continued. I finished with my meal since I was famished beyond a doubt, and continued to wait another 10 minutes. I’m not sure what the manager’s name is for this evening, and if I did I would surely call her out, but I am more than confident that I am not the first nor the last to have such an indecent and disappointing experience. Sorry Popeyes. You’ve failed miserably tonight. Go home and let another business that can meet the expectations of its consumers fill the void that you have irreparably created. Sincerely, A Former Popeye’s Fan

The overall rating at this Popeye’s location is lower than I think it deserves. While I agree that the service here isn’t great, it’s still a fine place to get your standard fried chicken fix from. It’s never crowded, they have a drive-thru, and their food is consistent with my expectation of above average fast-food fried chicken on the bone. So yeah, I think 3-stars would be about right. Put it this way, if there was a KFC at this location, I’d never go.

I have nothing against Popeyes. I love Popeyes chicken. The Popeyes at Westlake, however, is staffed by some of the most incompetent people you’ll ever have the displeasure of interacting with. They have about a 60−70% error rate on drive-thru orders(personal experience). They often run out of condiments well before closing time, but they won’t tell you beforehand(e.g. gravy). One time I placed an order at the front desk(intending to eat in) and I waited 45 minutes before they realized that they had completely forgotten about my order. Sometimes, you’ll wait at the drive thru window for about 5 – 10 minutes before someone(in an irritable voice) finally goes«Are you ready to order yet?!» Yeah, I’ve been ready for 5 minutes but no one said a word! There’s something wrong with their intercom system I think and they’ve just never fixed it. Granted, this is a rare issue and will maybe come up once in 100 visits. Sometimes, the workers here will flat out make fun of you(under the aegis of speaking spanish even though plenty of non-native speakers know and understand the language in this day and age). Yeah, unbelievable, I know. And the coup de’ grace — I am charged a different dollar amount on my drive thru order pretty much every time I go here. Sometimes it’s $ 10 and change. Sometimes it’s $ 11 and change. Sometimes it goes back down to $ 10 and a different amount of change. All for the exact… same.order. Exactly the same.

Sometimes you just want spicy fried chicken. Sometimes you want it enough that you’re willing to put up with haphazard fast food service. Today was one of those days. Craving satisfied for the foreseeable future. Thank you, Popeye’s.

Popeye’s is buying pigmy chickens I suppose because the chicken legs are so short they look like a teeny chicken, and the other pieces are the same, much, much smaller than other chicken eateries. I’ve gotten their pigmy chickens twice and you can spend a lot and get nothing… so that’s my last visit to Popeye’s. You feel cheated when you see the tiny pieces.

Oh Popeyes… how convenient you are… unfortunately?! Chicken is excellent! It’s so much better than KFC. And OMG… the biscuits — delightful. Service here is so-so. Check your order before you leave.

I have stopped at this establishment several times in the past 6 months. Every time I have ordered and paid for«2 extra drumsticks» only to find out when I get home I didn’t get what paid for. I have ordered the tenders only to get home and find they have not included gravy, or left out the biscuits. One should be able to trust the employees/manager to check the order before it is given to the paying customer. Long story short this place is notorious for failing to fulfill orders placed. Don’t waste your time or money. It will only end in frustration.

Food is good. Absolutely nothing else here is. It would be so easy to make this place work well but the owners are obviously incapable. Sad. Don’t go.

Let me first explain, that I love the food here. It’s pretty hard to screw up Spicy Chicken Tenders so in and of itself Popeyes is also a place that I will stop in on occasion. That said, even though I work less then a mile from this location I will never be back. I was eating there today for lunch and a man apparently came in and god knows what he said to the tattooed guy taking his order but a response of «f%Ck you insert racist N word, I’ll beat yo ass» The man in question was not black. But an older man. Like I said I have no idea what the guy said and to be honest, I don’t care. I work in customer service, I get phone calls all day long and some are none too pleasing to try to start a fight, or even curse to a customers face and then seem to brag about it is not good in my book. I’m a pretty young guy, I get it, no one wants to be working in Fast Food, but with an attitude like that, esp in WESTLAKE, this kid is doomed. I was appalled and this is the first time I’ve ever written a complaint on Unilocal or really anywhere.

A lot of people will be confused by my 4 stars, and maybe I’m being a little generous, but let me explain. Popeyes fried chicken is famous to me. That sounds like a bad line from a song, but whatever, it’s the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten. The batter that they use is much saltier than any other batter I’ve had(in a very good way), and on the rare occasion of getting it fresh, the chicken is hot and juicy. My dad says this place is famous for effing up your order… yes, they are. I remember going through a drive through and later seeing they gave me the SPICY(too bloody hot to eat) and I screamed«I HATEPOPEYES!!!»… It’s a love hate relationship I guess. They’re also famous for making you wait«two minutes» like Jodi E. said, when in fact its probably 10 minutes. But I’m always happy to wait, because that means they’re actually MAKING it and it’ll be hot and juicy! However, I also live by here, so I’ve been in and out multiple times. If I’d only been once and they gave me the wrong order and it was cold I’d say screw them. But I’ve developed a relationship over time, and it’s turned into a sweet sweet love that my father will never understand. For a while I ventured to Church’s and other fried chicken places but they weren’t anywhere close to the flavor that Popeyes offers, even when it’s cold… haha So be warned by all these horrible things that Popeyes is also famous for… but if you’re really wanting some fried chicken, check your order once they give it to you… and maybe maybe you’ll be happy. I always get the chicken strips. The mashed taters are always good with the spicy sauce, and the biscuits are warm, buttery, and amazing. Crap… after reading it I had to give them 3… hahaha
