Oh hell, no! I had a fairly complicated order and instead of going through the drive thru I went inside, hoping that it would be easier to communicate face to face with an employee rather than a speaker to avoid miscommunication. There were only two people in front of me, and it took 15 – 20 minutes for the girl behind the counter to ask what I wanted. I thought I had unwittingly taken the form of a medusa, as she refused to look me in the eyes while we spoke. There were, however, two or three conversations going on the kitchen that she was interested in taking part in. Perhaps this was to make me feel more at ease, as though I was a member of the team. Instead, I felt like at any moment a cameraman would jump out with Ashton Kutcher. They would normally get one star for bad service, but I’m tacking on an additional star because it was hilariously bad… like watching a cheesy horror movie. Now I enjoy the prompt service at the KFC on Koenig and Lamar, although peer pressure often lures me back to the Popeye’s on Cameron.

If you go on a Tuesday, it will be busy and chaotic. I read the reviews about how busy it gets and how the service is below sub par but I gave it a chance anyways. The drive thru line was all around the parking lot, the inside was full with a line out the door. There was only one register open. A tough no nonsense elderly lady who is clearly a manager somewhere else demanded a second register to be opened and it got done! Bless those people working there, they were working their asses off slinging that chicken. At one point a fist fight almost broke out bc someone cut the line. Don’t mess with people who want their chicken, we don’t play. All in all it was a very lively and exciting journey. Others may not have been too keen on the service and atmosphere but I don’t exactly hold Popeyes to a high standard. i just want my 2 piece order to go please.

I fucking love Popeye’s. I’m not even going to lie. I’m not a fast food fan, but I am always down for some Popeye’s. The food is delicious. The service here, on the other hand, is atrocious. At this point, I have to think there is some issue with the management, because it’s just always bad. The whole point of fast food is that it’s fast, yet I am ALWAYS told to pull over and wait for my food. I order the same thing every time — two loaded chicken wraps and a side of mashed potatoes. What is so complicated about that order that I am always told to pull over and wait? This only happens to me at this location. I see people in line before me getting three or four BAGS of food, and they didn’t have to pull over and wait. I see people after me ordering multiple bags of food, and they don’t have to wait. So why me? Why every single time? The last time I ordered, the guy heard me incorrectly and inputed that I wanted mashed potatoes on my chicken wraps instead of the usual red beans and rice. Amazingly, due to extra incompetence, I received just the standard chicken wraps! So they don’t pay attention to special orders.(Worked out great for me, except then I didn’t get my mashed potatoes. Sad.) I keep putting up with this place because I always assume that whichever bad apple it is that keeps screwing everything up will get fired… but I guess that’s thinking a little too optimistically. I also just really love Popeye’s and sometimes I just want some loaded chicken wraps and some Cajun mashed potatoes. I just always know I’m going to be waiting 30 minutes for my food. At least they consistently suck?

Brings shame to the Popeyes names. Either they get your order wrong or make you get soaked waiting for them to come to the drive thru. Sadly this is a common theme for this location.

The Management and most of the training staff have the worst customer service skills ever displayed. Never enough food ready, long wait times, lack luster concern for customer experience. Will not patronize this location ever! If I could I would not rate this location do ignore the single star rating!

We walked inside to place an order and there was a huge roach crawling across the floor in the kitchen. We immediately left.

I wish I could give this place less than one star. First off, the chicken was TERRIBLE taste wise, but at least the fries were somewhat good. This is the good part of my review. I was so hungry that I still ate a majority of the chicken, but afterwards I regretted it. Little did I know for the next few days that I would have to spend it by the toilet. I am talking BAD food poisoning; I can barely even keep liquids down. This is my first time going to Popeye’s, and also my last. My friend didn’t eat most of the chicken because she followed her gut instinct when it didn’t taste completely right. Should have done what she did, TOTALLY not worth it. One of the sickest I’ve been in my life.

By far the lowest of the low when it comes to fast food, and normal Popeyes in the area. I go there 2 – 3 times a week even though I haven’t received a correct order more than twice in about a month. Before then it was more common for it to be messed up than it was for it to be correct. They are all rude there unless you’re black and even then they are just neutral. Rudest drive through people I’ve ever seen, most idiotic mistakes in the world, and to be completely honest I don’t even think poorly of the staff, I think poorly of the management 100%. When I moved to the area about a year ago it was awesome! Now every time I go they have new employees and it’s just all around bad. DONOTBOTHERCALLINGTHEM because they WILLNEVER answer their phone. If you check your food and walk into the restaurant you can have it fixed but if you don’t, then they don’t care if it gets fixed and they don’t care if you come back or not. Trying to get the owners number today because I received a solid block of frozen cole slaw. Honestly??? A solid block of cole slaw??? Common sense people… They need some.

Avoid if you can. I thought this would be a good idea for a quick lunch, but boy was I wrong. It took over 20 minutes to get my order and it was completely wrong. The cashiers are RUDE and they have absolutely no interest in fixing their mistakes. I ordered a 4 piece meal mixed(2 dark/2white), but I got 3 legs and 1 chicken breast and it was spicy.(I can’t eat overly spicy food like that…) I couldn’t even get their attention to have my order corrected as they were too busy chewing out someone else for complaining. KFC on Lamar is worth the drive for me.

The place is dirty and disorganized. Last time I got takeout, the order was all wrong. When I called them about it, it was like«what do you want me to do about it?» Never going back

Impatient and flat-personality voice coming through the speakerbox at the drive thru made me want to abort my mission to finally try the Waffle Chicken Tenders; especially once he informed me that they had run out of the Maple Dipping Sauce. «Ok… I guess I’ll have BBQ and the Sweet Heat sauces.» Even though I suspect the Maple Sauce is the essence of the Waffle Chicken Tenders. I paid the expressionless drone working the drive thru and drove the long 10-minute drive home, the entire way fantasizing about the naughty, naughty things I was going to do to this chicken with my mouth. Only to finally arrive home, tear open my box, and find no sauce for my tenders, and no biscuit. That’s right; I said NOBISCUIT. I got out my 100% maple syrup from the fridge to try to salvage this much-publicized treat. I dunno. The batter tastes weird. Dejected and repulsed, I threw the whole box in the trash. Popeye’s on Cameron Road: you make me sad.

I NEVER write reviews on Unilocal, hardly EVER, but I felt this Popeye’s deserved some credit. I have been to several Popeye’s in my life, but none have ever been so clean, and never have I met a staff so inviting. The staff greeted us kindly, and didn’t huff or sigh while we took out time. We ordered, sat down, and received our food quickly. One look around the place, and it was spotless. I am so used to getting dry, flavorless chicken, even dark meat, but this chicken was cooked perfectly, even the white meat. We finished our meal, and just as we were getting up to leave, a gentleman was already offering to take our tray for us and he promptly wiped the table down. As someone who has worked in the service industry for a while, I always pay attention to the staff. These guys seemed to be in high spirits. They were laughing, joking, and genuinely having a good time it seemed. I was very impressed with this Popeye’s, not just as a Popeye’s, but as a chain restaurant. So thank you very much!

All I have to say about Popeyes is that their Tuesday special(99 cent two piece chicken) is awesome. I don’t care how unhealthy fried chicken is, if it’s Tuesday and I can’t decided where to eat I am going to Popeyes. I can eat 6 pieces total; by the time I get to the 6th piece I’m already full. I love the mild flavor, but will get 2 spicy for an extra kick. Their sweet Iced Tea is great. If you do decide to take a quest here on a Tuesday, come around 6pm… anytime later and you’ll end up waiting a long time or they’ll run out of something. And always remember, get the Cajun Sparkle packets(you must ask for them).

I like Popeye’s chicken bc it is crisper than most and well-spiced, kinda Southern. Really only find myself here on a Tuesday, when the special is a two-piece leg/thigh for $.99. Like to pair with my own home-cooked sides, but will turn to some fast-food to supply me the finished chicken and save me the mess of frying. So it gets crazy busy! Especially Tues, like 5−8pm. One would think the store would prep for this increased business, but after visiting several times, I have experienced wait times of 20 – 30 min inside and in the drivethru! Whoa if y’all could get this ish out faster somehow. I usually have to compromise on spicy/mild and just take what they have for sake of time though, good lord! They also tend to send ppl ahead of the drivethru to wait for the order to be brought out, which = more waiting and creates a tight turning-situation. I guess at least the wait equates to fried chicken getting at me fresh. Other reviewers becoming ill concerns me eww. I’ll always eye the food & trust my nose before I grub! Ive only ever experienced employees moving at their own pace, and the face to face interactions are polite. occasionally sweet w/some cashiers. Unilocal Unilocal

But… But… I thought I was pretty lady! Their fries are the bomb dot com! This Popeyes is WAY better than the sad excuse for a KFC on Ed Bluestein/183. Get you some!

O man… just thinking about this makes me droooooooooool. The place’s a little too far from where I live but I was in the area. The location is kind of run-down and the service is just OK but it’s fast food so I really shouldn’t complain. I never understand why people go to KFC… «havvvvvvvvve u met Popeyes?»
