Never answer their damn phone? Y’all close at 5 right? Worst automated phone system. Not helpful whatsoever.

I made an appointment last night at 1130PM for 1030AM this morning. I had to wait an extra 30 minutes but you can expect that from any doctor’s office. Everyone was pleasant from receptionist up to the nurse practitioners. I suffer from anxiety and they helped ease my nervousness (let’s be real. Everyone is scared of the doctor’s office). I felt comfortable and they answered any questions I had. They were efficient and thorough. Thank you ladies for all that you do!

What a great place! It was a little crowded so it took me a long time to see a doctor but I think that might be less the fault of this facility than the fact that there are so few of them in this state.
But it was worth the wait! The nurses were kind and considerate, the waiting room was comfortable, and the clinician who I eventually saw made me feel like a real person who’s health mattered. She was knowledgable and compassionate while keeping my appointment efficient and to the point. I will definitely return to this clinic.

Not having insurance can be tough, I’m more than glad that PP exist. It was the first time I visited PP and I was treated with respect, kindness, and more than anything they made me feel comfortable. The staff is very knowledgable, they answered all my questions regarding birth control and more. They certainly have a well prepared and friendly; I will definitely recommend this location to all of my friends.

I literally got here 30 minutes before my appt. I’m still in the waiting room over an hour && 20min. past my appt. time. That’s ridiculous!

This location is so friendly. I went in about 9am. I had an appointment to remove my Implanon. They called me in about 9:15am and I answered some questions. Then, I went to the room and saw the doctor. She was the most friendly person ever! I loved her. I would definitely go back again because my whole experience was wonderful.

I had a great experience there. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel totally comfortable. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because my appt. was at 8:10, but they didn’t open the office til closer to 8:20 and I didn’t get called back until 8:45.
Overall, I was very pleased with my visit and will be going there again for all of my women’s health needs.

Being uninsured at the moment I had to get my birth-​control through PP.

My birth-​control costs less through them than it did through insurance!

Every experience I’ve had here has been awful. Expect to wait at least an hour for anything. Even if you are just going to pick up a refill, it will still take an hour. My last visit there was especially bad though. I scheduled an appointment in advance, thinking it would make my visit shorter. I was wrong. I sat in the waiting room for an hour and a half. Once my name was finally called I was taken to a room where a nurse weighed me, took my blood pressure, all that stuff. She then said the doctor would be right in. After waiting for another 30 minutes another lady came in and asked me if I had any problems with the birth control I’d been taking. I replied no, it was fine. So she wrote me another prescription for a year. It took under 5 minutes. I then was instructed to go back to the waiting room where I waited another 30 minutes for them to call my name and give me my birth control. All and all I was there for two hours for something that really could have taken 5 minutes.

Uh, bad memories from this place. When I found myself unexpectedly pregnant a year and half ago, unsure of what I wanted to do, and suspecting a bladder infection or something else at the same time, I went here. The wait was long, the waiting room was filthy. Staff not particularly friendly. Fine. This wasn’t a private practice doctor’s office in Central Austin, so I had expected and could deal with some inconveniences (though the dirty floors were a bit much — seeing as many of the people waiting had babies/​toddlers/​young kids with them that were playing on the floors).
Skip to the appointment. I’m led back to a small room with a male nurse/​medical assistant who speaks very broken English. So broken I try unsuccessfully to muster up some of my poor Spanish to better communicate with him. I tell him I’ve recently found out I am pregnant, haven’t decided what I want to do, but am leaning toward continuing the pregnancy. Also tell him I’ve had some weird symptoms, and could I be tested for a bladder/​yeast infection/​STDs. Now the weird part: male nurse tells me he cannot or won’t test me or provide treatment, because I AM PREGNANT, huh? He says I need to see an OB or GP to be diagnosed and treated. An entire afternoon gone, all to be told that because I was pregnant, and not presently planning to terminate, they wouldn’t so much as give me a lousy urine test, to see if I had a bladder infection. After this, I kind of write it off as just the way PP works, whatever. I think the policy is weird, something that SHOULD be stated on their website/​door, whatever, so people such as myself don’t waste time and money attempting to get services they claim to provide, but in fact do not. However, being rabidly pro-​choice, I still think of PP as an inherently good organization.
Recently, I read a blog post detailing all of the services PP offers, and was miffed to see Urinary tract infections, vaginal infections, testing and treatment listed for both. This particular location also has on their website that they do offer these particular services, and did way back when also, yet still I was turned down. If they didn’t want to treat me, fine, but why wouldn’t they even test me? I was a paying customer, just a little pregnant is all.
I’m supportive of PP, and was much more so prior to this incident. However after reading Mary J.‘s post about PP’s birth control price markup’s, I question them. I have seen multiple Planned Parenthood billboards in Austin, one in particular around S. Lamar and W. Oltorf, presumably not a cheap place to rent a billboard, no? If PP can afford to advertise themselves and their services on South Lamar Blvd, you’d think they might could afford to provide women with reasonably priced birth control pills. Isn’t that what Planned Parenthood is all about?

When I decided to seek out my first STD exam, I wanted to go somewhere that would not contribute to the stress the already nerve-​racking process garnered. This clinic, located a mile or so east of the Interstate, was wonderful.
Friendly front desk, clean waiting room with reading material, and a memorably helpful medical assistant – Mr. Santos. What a guy! Put my mind at ease while allowing me to practice my gringo Spanish on him… unforgettable.
Compassion and discretion, this clinic had them both. The Nurse Practitioner was very professional and also warm, something everyone should hope for in similar environments.
I paid $ 106 to test for HIV, herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia, and I have quickly discovered you cannot really put a price on peace of mind.
