Found this place while exploring the Downtown area, and boy, I am glad! Plain Ivey Jane sells overstock apparel at a discount along with jewelry and some apparel by local artists. The owner Sarah Reeves was there when I visited, she exudes the nice southern hospitality. The store is very well organized and have a good variety of styles(not the office power-dressing kind). The collections are well curated from quality brands and the fairly priced. Too bad I don’t live in Austin, I would stop by frequently if I did.

I like this shop. Sure, I walked out without buying anything, but before I left, I had my eye on 3 dresses. One was a lemon one with awesome style and cut, but it was 3 shades too green for my skintone. The other two were in bright fuschia and teal colours with an AMAZING style, but I already own dresses in those shades… The jewellery is fantastic. Modern and whimsical, something you can wear and love for a long time. Nothing fussy, or Claire’s Accessories-ish, and the prices are SO reasonable!!! LOVE the sales clerks too.

I went here because of the great Unilocal reviews. I really don’t get it. I’ve shopped in cities around the world. This place is a disappointment. Very few things to pick from. Nothing unique. Very over-priced. My closet is more stocked than this place. Austin shopping is pretty bad.

I love this store! It’s an overstock store, so the prices are significantly lower for designer brands, but there are very limited quantities so you have to go often when they get new shipments! The girl who owns the store is very young, so she has good and current taste in what’s in right now. Everyone must check this store out!

FINALLY headed over to this cute little store. I’ve walked by so many times going to eat, and decided the dress in the window deserved my attention. The concept: I was told it’s over stock from other big name stores, so beautiful clothes at a discount. They also have super cute jewelry, HAVE to check out the super cute rings right by the register, I mean a vampire teeth ring? Who wouldn’t?!? The parking, well, it sucks. I say try this place during a week day, before 4pm, if at all possible. Once Happy Hour starts downtown, every space is full, and it can take awhile to find. I now have another reason to enjoy walking that way!

I was in that store at least 15 minutes walking around looking at things(high prices for what you were getting) and not one person approached me to see if I need any help, nor did I even catch a pleasant smile. Those girls must really hate it there. To me, it looked like a thrift store with their makeshift jewelry they were trying to sell for way too much. Don’t waste your time. There are much better places on S. Congress and S. Lamar. Go some place else.

As recommended by a local, I stopped by to check this boutique out. I just love how relaxed and unpretentious this place is. The salesperson(with a sleepy dog) was very sweet and not pushy at all. She was fun to chat with. I did feel like I was shopping with a good girlfriend of mine! The boutique had not only cute clothes/accessories, but also beautiful jewelry by local artists. I did try on a couple of cute dresses that were reasonably priced, but what I ended up with was a gorgeous bracelet. When I get a chance to visit Austin again, I’ll definitely go back to this place!

LOVE this adorable boutique. As soon as I walked in, I knew I was home. Popped by with some girlfriends after brunch last weekend, and the first thing to catch my eye was a jaw-dropping necklace by TrashATX(who, incidentally, we had just been discussing over mimosas). I ended up snagging an amazing(and huge) watch-bracelet with a map of LA(my old stomping ground) inlaid in the face. This review could easily turn into a solid gold rave about my new favorite bijoutier, so I’ll stop right here and just say look her up on Etsy. So anyway, the artfully-edited racks were compiled with styles for every occasion and with tempting pieces from Tahari, Calvin Klein, you name it… Not to mention more fun jewelry and hair accessories from other local artists. If you’re a girl(or know of one) who loves designer vintage and one-of-a-kind treasures, but shops on a budget, get your butt over to Plain Ivey Jane. Pet the sweet visually challenged dog and don’t forget your complimentary(with purchase) chapstick on the way out!

Plain Ivey Jane is a welcome addition to the 2nd St district! Sarah has a great eye for picking some great select clothing pieces that would fit in with almost any Austin Woman’s wardrobe. I absolutely love her concept and the overall design of shop. Sarah the«closeout couture» specialist hand picks high-end brand-name pieces and sells them at lower prices without sacrificing quality. She mixes up high-end labels like Chloe and Badgley Mischka with funkier labels like Free People with accessories by local designers. I went to their Grand Opening on Friday which was too crowded to actually shop and look forward to going back to browse and try on some certainly to be new favs. Love their slogan«Luxury Clothing for Ladies on a Budget» — that perfectly describes this new boutique!
