Super friendly staff. Very cool shipping container design. Butter coffee + collagen is legit.

Best coffee spot in town! I’m a big butter coffee fan, love how filling and delicious it is with any caffeine crash or sugar rush. Naomi and the staff are such sweet people who always greet you with a smile. The food is from local farms and all ingredients are all natural. Great breakfast tacos, lunch dishes, and even healthy desserts :) I love the plain butter coffee but sometimes like to add the collagen protein, so much better for you than whey. It’s not cheap but you definitely get what you paid for. I would rather support a business like this instead of Starbucks! Be sure to check this food trailer out if you haven’t experienced butter coffee yet.

Paleo options here… love the butter coffee! Had a breakfast taco on the run… was just ok nothing to write about really. Not cheap but worth the extra for nothing processed! Small portions for the prices so buyer beware! But the coffee choices are great! Outdoor space

This is a paleo based stand. I had the breakfast taco and butter coffee. The taco was alright but maybe I just prefer a regular corn or flour tortilla. The butter coffee was unique and worth a try.

I have been the biggest fan of Picnic for over a year. I come here ATLEAST twice a week. The 12 oz. butter coffee + collagen is my go-to, and if I’ve been a good little exerciser, I splurge on a butter blondie to go with that. It’s my favorite place! I can’t tell you how many people I’ve turned onto Picnik. I wish I didn’t have to write this on Unilocal, but I couldn’t find any other place to contact the business directly. I went in this past week, clutching my loyalty card as I always do, and was told that the loyalty program had changed. Whereas I used to get a punch toward a free coffee every time I bought a coffee, now I will ONLY get a punch IF I spend $ 7.25 in a single visit. So, basically, I could come to Picnik 365 days a year and get my regular 12 oz butter coffee with collagen and NEVER qualify for a free beverage. I was so disappointed and in disbelief that one of my favorite businesses would alienate its regular customers in this way. To make matters worse, the cashier took my half full paper card and didn’t give it back, not allowing me to join the new program since I hadn’t spent $ 7.25 that day. They don’t HAVE to offer a loyalty program — I totally get that! But changing the existing program to exclude their most loyal customers felt really inconsiderate to me, and I felt alienated and disappointed. I really wish this hadn’t happened. Now I think twice about giving them my business, since it seems like they only care about customers who spend $ 7.25 vs. customers who spend between $ 6-$ 7 multiple times per week.

I have been coming here since November of 2013 and it is still the best place to get Paleo on the go. The truck has seen some changes to the food and scenery as time went on, but Naomi is still making sure to keep her customers and employees happy. The quality of food they have here is very good and is from local farms. The desserts they have are very good and I grab a blondie every time I go in. They used to have smaller blondies for $ 2 which was nice, but the price has been upped to $ 3 unfortunately. I have to say I am annoyed by that. The to go food is all cold but is very enjoyable as is. If you want to heat up your food you will have to take it elsewhere. All the food is delicious, high quality paleo food, but you will pay $ 8-$ 15 for one entrée. The chicken caesar wraps at $ 8 are the best deal for your buck as it will keep you full for a while, especially combined with a butter coffee. They used to have a paleo BLT that was pretty darn good at $ 6 and you could get soup with it for about $ 10. Sadly, the PBLT was discontinued and so was the broccoli crunch salad, which also filled you up quite well. Hopefully these entrees will come back. The soups are all made with bone broth and a bowl at $ 7 is the way to go if you get one. The soup varies by supply but every one that I have tried was done well. The chicken fajita soup, butternut squash, and chicken noodle are there often. Make sure to get paleotilla strips in your chicken fajita! Woo! You will never go wrong with getting a soup of you are there. Paleo breakfast tacos every morning until they run out. They are pretty good with their home made salsa as well. Sometimes the paleotilla it comes on will be soggy and will fall apart if you get one late in the morning or around lunch time. Even so, they are still worth getting as they still taste very good. They used to have more smoothie options but are now down to two options. I forget one of them, but the other is Green Machine. Green Machine is worth the $ 9 it costs as they add protein powder to it. If you have been running or cycling for a while then this is what you need to recover. You will feel so good having this after a workout, trust me. If your still diabetic, might be better to have a butter coffee with protein added. And now, butter coffee. It should be known that butter coffee usually includes coconut oil or MCT oil and butter or ghee. Ghee is dairy free butter essentially. The coffee they use is high quality and the decaf tastes like regular coffee! Woot! A rare find indeed. You can add sweeteners like xylitol, maple, or honey for a fee. You can add whey, collagen or a premium protein for a fee. Also available is a dirty chai, pumpkin spice and mocha. You can get any coffee hot or iced. They also have a green tea and an herbal tea available that you can get buttered if you would like. The standard butter coffee at $ 4 is never a bad way to go if you want to save a little cash. Also for all of you, they do not have espresso or an espresso machine. You are not able to order lattes, cappuccinos, machiattos, and other drinks that require you to use a stem steamer. Trust me it’s not a deal breaker and those drinks are usually bad for you anyway. The folks that work here know all about what they sell and are happy to tell you everything that goes into what you order. They are all very nice and will treat you well. Sometimes, the wait for drinks may take a moment if you come at a busy time, but it’s because they are blending most of the drinks. The more stuff that goes in your drink, the longer it will probably take. The wait is worth it though. Picnik is a great place to go to if you(like me) need a Paleo to-go option. You will be meeting wonderful people behind the counter, receive quality food, and quality service. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Just remember it can be a little pricey, but your body will thank you later. P. S. Naomi bring back $ 2 blondies! Please!

I stopped because it was near a house I was working on a project at. I keep coming back because the food is fantastic. Not only that, I actually feel better since I have been eating there regularly. My body isn’t having processed crap anymore. I crave their soup and the chicken wrap. The bulletproof coffee is the best. Especially the Mochalatte. The quality of food here is what I now measure other places by.

I’m so thankful I found this place!!! I eat Paleo and grain free due to Celiac disease. Almond tortillas are amazing, so are the blondies:) I had the marshmallow Chai and it was delicious! I’m so thankful to the owner making such healthy food to go :) I’m a new regular customer…

I’m so spoiled after drinking Picnik’s butter coffee that I can no longer drink regular coffee. Yeah, it’s not cheap, but it’s amazing! I highly recommend this place. The staff is friendly, the location is great, and the butter coffee is a game changer.

Love this place! It’s so much easier to make good decisions about my diet when there aren’t any bad options on the menu! I’m pretty sure most of their food is pre-made in a different location. It’s all ready to go and waiting in the refrigerator but they do have hot tacos and amazing coffee. There are only 2 places in south Austin that serve bullet proof coffee and picnick opens an hour before the other place so I can actually get some on my way to work. Love it. If you’re paleo or bullet proof, you have to try it.

I love, love, love this place. Not cheap by any means, but their dedication to doing right makes me happy. Like, smiling while I pay $ 8 for a large Mocha. Paleo – meaning nothing processed, think of yourself as a cave man. Could you have eaten pizza, well no, certainly not.(and you shouldn’t be now, but it’s so good… I’m digressing) This is the place to go if you’ve wondered about the infamous bullet coffee(Navy Seals, paleo coffee, butter coffee, etc – all sorts of lore out there) They make the stuff with all organic ingredients. Places like this are why we now see advertisements for Kerry Gold butter from Ireland on the telly now. Who had ever heard of the stuff before butter coffee?(those cows live the high life and only eat sweet, green, grass) Whip the butter with the organic coffee, add some MCT oil(read up – it’s amazing) and then add some interesting sweeteners. I’m highly susceptible to caffeine, but didn’t find myself blasting through space. What I did have however, was a very sated hunger and a long, even energy buzz. I’m liking this stuff. There are rumors of weight loss! To be fair, I didn’t try any of the food, but I love the paleo concept and I’ll definitely grab and go from this nice food truck. And, I’ll feel good afterwards because there is no wheat flour(Listen up GF’s!), they compost and recycle, and they serve that coffee out of cups made from veggies, not trees. Oh, and they love my doggie too. I love you Piknik, thank you for fighting the good fight.

So this was my first Butter Coffee experience. Not at all what I was thinking. It’s not coffee with a pad of butter in it. They butter is more like the dairy and it’s blended in. I was made aware of all the health benefits of the butter, which is certainly nice, but I was there for a beverage on a hot day. I must say, it did have a lovely flavor. Not all too buttery, not a coffee that was made with milk either. Really interesting and I would certainly have one again.

Updated review: while their redesign looks cool, you can’t see the food or anything they’re selling. I went for a packaged salad and paid $ 16.29 with tax. Quality wise — the dressing was amazing however the salad itself was pretty small with not a lot of greens and a small piece of chicken. Needless to say I’m still hungry. The ingredients they use are great — high quality and healthy, but you can have a sit down meal at bouldin with a drink and tip and pay less and the ingredients are just as fresh and healthy. I’ll still probably pop in every now and then for a coffee. They have really good food, but it’s a bit pricey. My favorite is the shrimp and pineapple salad, please bring it back! So good. Favorite drink there is the little Larry, it’s really good iced or hot. You can also buy protein, Chapstick, and other paleo goodies while there. The staff is always friendly.

Cute little trailer serving up bullet proof coffee(grass fed butter w coconut oil) sounds weird but it is really delicious. Paleo blueberry muffin equally delicious.

Paleo for the people. I fully buy into the idea of paleo eating. It just makes too much sense(don’t knock it until you’ve actually read what it’s all about). Because this is the way I eat about 80% of the time(love ice cream too much, bruh), it’s a godsend to have an eatery like Picnik that ensures everything on their menu passes the sniff test. I found them after doing a search for«butter coffee» on Unilocal.Being that I drink a cup of BP coffee every morning, I wanted to keep my habits alive while on vacation. Some may argue that cavemen weren’t drinking coffee laced with butter and high concentrations of cold pressed coconut oil. I don’t really care about your argument, I just like the stuff. And Picnik has so many different varieties to choose from. I went with the mocha flavor on both of my weekend trips. Butter, MCT oil, cacao powder, cacao butter, and a little vanilla whey protein. I’ve had the tried and true butter + MCT oil several times, but this upped the ante so hard. I’ll have to figure out a way to incorporate cacao powder into more cups here in New York. I also swooped up a cacao cupcake with grass fed butter cream and a tuna sandwich. The former was delicious, the latter not so much. But it’s not necessarily their fault — very few paleo breads should be used for anything but shingling a roof. But if you want a fantastic cup of coffee and a dessert, you’re in luck. Keep primal, y’all!

Really liked the service. The lady that came through the line was super nice and explained the menu. She also helped to make suggestions based off what u were looking for. My butter coffee Larry was pretty delicious. It was really rich though with the butter. Not sure how this is supposed to be healthy for u, but it was kind of too rich so didn’t want to drink anymore… Plus the coffee grounds at the bottom. My husband got the butter bone soup. He loves bone soup– his mom makes it a lot at home. We got the butter version based on the suggestion:… This is where the 2 stars comes in… Holy cow, it was like… Drinking butter. Overwhelming too rich and buttery to the point where that’s all u can smell and taste. We even waited to see if would taste better colder, but no– still… Just. Ugh. Not to our taste at all. Price was very expensive for a coffee shop.

This is an amazing concept — a Paleo coffee bar/restaurant doing business out of a converted trailer on a little hill in Austin. So quaint and perfect. Everything they serve here is Paleo approved. They welcome any and all questions about ingredients and totally understand why you’re asking unlike most conventional food or drink establishments. They are primarily a coffee bar with pre-made to-go meals out of the cooler. Their signature item is BUTTERCOFFEE. Yes, butter. I had an iced version. It is amazingly delicious! Try it. This whole place just SPEAKS to me on so many levels. If you’re doing Whole30 or eat Paleo full-time, definitely give Picnik a try!

Picnik’s staff and service were exemplary. I felt welcome, and while their offerings are unusual, the ladies went out of their way to help us understand what was on offer. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the taste of butter coffee at all. I really wanted to like it, since it came highly recommended, but with every sip, my whole body bristled at the richness of the drink. I tried it right after serving, a few minutes later, and an hour later. It was still unappealing to the palate, and felt unhealthy to boot. To add context, I usually drink my coffee black, with freshly-ground beans from local roasters. Again, the service was great here, and I like the concept and space. Here’s hoping that your experience was better than mine.

Picnik does paleo. You may be a reticent fan(like say, Beth D) or not, but there is certainly more and more evidence proving that most of us should eat a lot fewer carbs, and more healthy fats… which can happen a lot if you stick to a paleo-style diet. Whether cavemen ate this way is of course still up for debate. I had their chicken salad(ok, but definitely slacking on mayo-ness), and soup of that day which was a lot better — some kind of beef with squash? Anyhow, portions were definitely pricier than I’d like for what I got, and I’m not a big guy. I’m sure it’s tough trying to do what Picnik is doing as a(as far as I know) single food trailer establishment, but even so. I can’t comment on their coffee beverages, as I can consume neither coffee nor butter(which together constitute a ‘Bulletproof’ coffee-type beverage — google for details on this), though they may be great. If PIcnik could get their food prices down a notch, I’d bump ‘em up to the 4 star.

Picnic AUSTIN has embraced the butter coffee movement and they have done so in favorable fashion. The shear fact that I will drive out of my way to grab a coffee at Picnik should speak for itself. I’m a big fan of making my morning coffee with MCT oil and butter, but something just tastes better when someone else makes it for you. I am a fan of the Little Larry and on a sweet day the Pumpkin Spice Latte. I’ve only eaten once and it was fine, but as you have seen in the other reviews that many of the items are from the fridge or not warm. Picnic does have additional supplies from coffee to even some Bulletproof products which are usually only available online. This is a trailer so you must be prepared to sit outside or take it to go.
