When I bought my first home in 2010, I did not have a realtor. I found my place when I saw the sign in front while walking the dog. Kathy was the seller’s realtor. Because you need a realtor to buy a home from someone represented by a realtor, I found one to handle my side of the transaction, but really, I did most of the business with Kathy. She was willing to show me the house multiple times, including a last minute need to measure the bedrooms to make sure they would work. The seller and I agreed on a fair price, and when the inspector said the roof needed to be replaced, it was done. A few other small repairs were also taken care of, and a termite treatment was done, all before closing. Kathy communicated everything in a timely, professional manner and there was no bullshit involved. Fast forward ten months: it’s December. I’m about to have my first Christmas at my new house. While driving home one evening, I realize I still don’t have a Christmas wreath, and the decorations are up at other people’s homes. I get home, and bam! There’s a Christmas wreath on the porch from Kathy, with a card attached, saying enjoy your Christmas in your new home. How sweet is that? Since then, I got married and bought a second home. When we found our place, I let my husband choose the realtor to handle the transaction, and he did so through a friend’s recommendation. In retrospect, I wish I had been working with Kathy again, and I wish she’d been my realtor this time. In the future, I will not hesitate to call her when I need a realtor.
