My search for reasonably priced copies and a fairly convenient location led me here. They say they clear their copier caches daily, which is important for privacy with those documents you copy. Copier identity theft is on the rise these days. Saw it on 60 Minutes; look it up. I noticed that they also offer document shredding, so I brought in a couple of giant boxes of documents I was so done with and bid them adieu. They will load them into the locked bins while you watch. A shredding company shows up later and shreds them on site. Each time I’ve been there, usually around lunch, they haven’t been too crowded. The employees went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of, even calling someone from the back to check me out more quickly. They offer document design and printing and advertise that they fix computer problems. The store is big and looks like a warehouse, but the prices on office supplies are full retail. That’s really the only place I can fault them. Can’t have it all.

I run a fitness and martial arts gym and I use OfficeMax for a lot of my flyers and things. I recently took my computer in to have it worked on. They weren’t able to fix it, but they spent a lot of extra time trying anything and everything. I was impressed with how much time they spent on it, even though the issue was outside of their services. I found out that Nathan Doss was even calling in on his day off to see how the computer was coming along. And Charles offered me free sodas or water while I was waiting to pick it up. I felt like they were doing everything they could to be hospitable. They gave me a full refund on my computer services, even though they actually had gotten most of it fixed(they just couldn’t get it to do some updates). As a side note, one of the workers(I think his name is Paul) has helped me a few times with things. I was really frustrated about some of my flyers at one point and I took it out on him a bit. He was still very polite and I apologized for being such a «d***».

This lady squatted out of view of the guy up front and ate half of a candy bar 6 feet away from him, squatting down behind the display, then left the other half of the wrapper and checked out for her stuff… funny Unilocal!

I gave them a second chance in the printing services department. Months ago I had a brochure to print and they did a terrible job — and recommended me to go to the downtown location. Today I came to pick up some double-sided business cards and the cut was horrible — I would be embarrassed to hand them to someone I do business with. I had to reject the order. The cut was not straight.

Unfortunately a lot of incredible online office supply deals are available online. For businesses, it’s much easier to buy their supplies in bulk, online. And it’s often more sensible, once combined shipping comes into play. But for the casual«I’m in need of something basic but specific» office supply buyer, jumping online doesn’t necessarily make sense. Yes, $ 5 for 25 colored A7 envelopes sounds exceptional, but $ 10 in shipping makes me wonder if I can find it cheaper locally(and goodness, then there’s the bonus of instant gratification). I’m not blaming Officemax for not having what I was looking for. Kinkos, Office Depot, and an actual paper supplier didn’t have the envelopes, pens, or business card magnet backs that I was searching for. It’s the nature of paper sales in a digital era. I get that. And, to an extent, I get that these types of retail chains have had to cut back staff to dwindling resources — maybe one cashier, one printer, and one floor person after 5pm. But there is certainly no reason why a customer should(1) go without a greeting(when the cashier at the front isn’t doing anything) and then(2) wander around the store for 30 minutes before an employee comes remotely close. When someone was finally in my bubble of «potentially, sorta, nearby,» he was almost startled by my decision to ask for help, which may have been the result of watching me systematically walk up and down every single aisle first… …or maybe he was just startled because it was such a dull day. It is what it is.

I went to FedEx Office, wasted 30 minutes printing documents to a dead printer… so glad I got to pay(and received a refund). I had 30 minutes until my appointment and went in to this location with my hair on fire. Francisca(Print team supervisor) SAVEDMYBUTT! Stopped everything she was doing, and busted her tail to print my presentations PLUS I made it to my appointment on time. Francisca went ABOVE and BEYOND. The following week I decided to send my presentations to her via the website and asked for them by 9:30 am. She called at 8:30 to ask if I would like them bound and covered to look more professional. I told her it wasn’t necessary. Francisca then called back at 9 am to tell me everything was ready. When I arrived, presentations had covers and were bound! They should be proud to have such a great employee!!!
