My scale wants me to remove a star, because I’m addicted to these and they have really thrown off my diet. However, I refuse. Everyone I’ve introduced to Moore cookies has raved about them. And THEN I tell them they are gluten-free. That’s the fun part. Their mouths hit the floor and then it’s 10 minutes of «uh-uh! no way!» :) My only complaint is the discontinuation of the«Mooreo» which was one of my favorites, but let’s face it… these hips don’t need any more binge-fests. Seriously, folks… these are simply the best cookies around, AND they are gluten-free. Not just the best«gluten-free cookies», mind you. The best cookies, period. They just happen to be gluten-free.

My family and I sampled the baked goods at the Hope Farmers’ Market in Austin and were extremely impressed. My wife is gluten free, and the products were excellent. Not the dry and texturally-challenged stuff that is so common. The owner was extremely acomodating as well. Wish we lived closer, and hope that he does well. Can’t wait for my next visit.

Ethan Moore is the mastermind behind these locally baked goods. And by mastermind, I mean the locavore. Yes, cookies are definitely a little archaic on the shopping local spectrum, but you can never go wrong with picking up an artisanal good such as these flattened confectionery delights. I caught eye of this small-business institution at a recent Farmer’s Market visit, and I found the products to be of high quality, and that is always a good thing when shopping at a FM. If you are going to be putting in a good amount of dough, you want something of high quality for your return, regardless if it is local or not. I have had plenty of not-tasty locally sourced goods. The offerings are fairly standard across the board, though I caught wind of some«unique» selections on the website i.e. pepper bacon spice and cookie«bowls.» I would recommend you get in touch with him if these have sparked some interest in your cookie-eating self. I also enjoy how he really makes sure you know what you are buying; he gives you exact specifications such as inches in diameter and weight. Purchasing works the same, as you get discounted for a more abundance purchase. Aside from the cookie scene, the lemon Great-Grandma’s buttermilk cake was a nice addition to the team. It had a tartness inside of the cake and a sweetness on the crust that balanced one another out. Texturally, it was a little dense. I also very much enjoyed the flavor profile of the chocolate-iced peanut butter little guy. Bold flavoring all around. Welcome Moore Cookies! to the Austin artisan scene. It will make an impact, though small, on the team fighting against the Pepperidge Farms of the world.
