DONOTUSETHISCOMPANY!!! DONOTTRUSTTHISCOMPANY! DONTLETANYONEYOUKNOWUSETHISCOMPANY!!! I have more issues of them lying to me than I can count. Their product is horrible! Their sensors go off for no reason and the alarm went off one morning at 2am and it wasn’t even armed! I had to sign a three year contract and even with all the issues I had they wouldn’t let me out of it without paying for the remainder of my contract. I had a few different techs come out to try and fix the problem and obviously nothing they did worked. I had one guy out twice(total of 16 hours) during business hours and I couldn’t go into work to try and fix the problem and nothing! Oh, and I got charged for it! He promised I wouldn’t but I did. I had to call and plead my case and ended up having to speak to a manager before they’d remove the charges. On top of that, you have to give the written notice. All they want is another month to charge you!!! I’m contacting all public sources to inform everyone not to use this company!!!

Horrible company. They installed their«wireless system» by super gluing little white boxes to my nice doors. Despite what they said about the size of animals my cats set off the motion sensor constantly. They never asked me for a verbal code. Once I came home with my daughter and put in my code. That set off an alarm that said I pressed the keypad too hard. They called my cell phone and I could not verify the code, that they never asked me for, so they sent police to my house. I ended up paying for the visit plus found out that Monitronics never told me I needed a permit for the alarm so I had to pay extra for that. Ended up the code was put in as just my last name. Worst of all, we moved from the house into a rental, and still had 7 months on the contract. If you call to cancel they try really hard to get you to transfer service to a friend or family member. They use scare tactics and guilt trips to try and get you to keep service. They told me I didn’t care about my family. They say they are«protecting America». They say that they see news stories everyday of things bad happening and that they help prevent those things from happening. Then if all the fear mongering, scare tactics, and guilt trips don’t work, they tell you well«there’s nothing you can do» but keep paying the contract. Not only do you have to pay to the end of the contract, for a service you no longer have, but you CANNOT cancel at the end of the contract without a hand signed letter sent to their office in Dallas, TX. They will extend your contract and keep charging you if you don’t type up a letter with a reason for cancelling, code word, and account number and snail mail it to Dallas. The ethics of this company are vile. I don’t know how their employees can sleep at night knowing they screw people over everyday for a living.

It’s not even 8:45 am and a lady continued to pound on my door and ring my doorbell asking if she could put a sign in my yard. I told her we already had a security system, she said yes she noticed our sign outside and still continue to talk. I told her that my baby was about to wake up but I really needed to go and we weren’t interested yet she continued to talk. I am extremely upset, and annoyed, that someone would have the indecency to pound on the door and ring doorbell’s this early in the morning. I understand that she was just doing her job, but even if they were the last company on earth, I would never use them because of this experience.

The worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Once installed, the installer refused to show us how to use the system. I called Monitronics and they were going to charge us to come out & show us how to use the system. My 2 year contract couldn’t end soon enough. When I asked to cancel after my 2 years, they refused. Took 4 months & reporting them to the BBB. Then they had the nerve to charge a partial month after I finally got it cancelled. WORST customer service ever.

Worst company in the world! Scammers run this company. No response when a break in happens. We had a break in, and had to call this alarm company and the police ourselves after our alarm was triggered.

This is my first review. I just had to pass on my experience with Monitronics when I tried to cancel my service because it was so lousy. I initially had a contract with a different security company and then Monitronics bought that company so I had to finish out my contract with Monitronics. When I went to cancel Monitronics for a less expensive option(the new service was less than half the price, btw), I was told that I’d need to send in a letter to confirm cancellation and when they received it, they would cancel my service in 24 – 48 hours and only charge me a prorated rate for the last month. I sent the letter in and called a week later to check the status. The first person told me that it takes 30 days to cancel service and that I’d be charged for the entire last month even though I wasn’t using it, so I asked to go up the chain of command. I already had a 30 dollar credit on my account, and after one more escalation, I was basically told to pound sand about getting any of that money back. Totally shady business in my opinion. Just wanted to pass this along to anyone looking for a security monitoring system. I wish I could put zero stars as my rating.

I have never done this before, but Montronics Home Security is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They use third party companies that exist for less than a year to handle their sales and contracts. When something goes wrong they say to take it up with the third party company that no longer exists. I signed a 2 year contract that turned into a 50 month contract. The contract that they sent does not match the one I have. When I send Montronics the contract I have on file showing 24 months initialed by the sales man and me, they say that I they do not have to abide by the third parties promises, even though they use them to sell there service. Montronics Home Security now has me under contract at a greater price then I was paying ADT for 50 months on a house that does not exist. They say the promises were made by Elevate Security, the third party they hire to do there sales, and they do not have to follow what Elevate said. Be very weary of Montronics Home Security, Elevate Security, or anyone who says they have taken over your security system. It has been one of the worst, most dishonest companies and experiences in my life. I believe they prey off young home owners who just sold there home and have home security system contracts they have to close or pay off. I had to pay a $ 1200 charge off with ADT and now have to continue paying $ 66 a month for 48 more months to a company that does not respond when the alarm goes off, on a house I no longer own.

Had the most amazing experience with Tracy today! She was able to get to me sooner than expected and was vastly knowledgeable. I can’t imagine a better prepared or friendly employee and would highly recommend the Austin branch of Monitronics!
