I highly recommend this yoga studio for anyone seeking options that are restorative, gentle, and/or focused on growing with yoga as a life path. What immediately attracted me to Mind Body Yoga was its location in North Austin, its intimate size, and its emphasis on community. I appreciated its emphasis on wellness — not just fitness(this, after past experiences at some other studios in Austin). My first class at Mind Body was Restorative Yoga, after a 2-year hiatus from the practice. After that class I purchased an 8-class pass. Now I’m addicted to the place! The Restorative, Gentle, and Mindful classes are among my favorites. After attending these regularly, my body feels stronger, my mind clearer, and my breath more relaxed. The studio offers opportunities to explore new paths via workshops, too. Yoga Nidra, Nia, Iyengar, and Creative Dance workshops have deepened my practice — while offering an opportunity to meet other teachers and students. One desire: I look forward to more morning and Friday classes as the studio grows. If you are just starting yoga or returning to it, this is a welcoming, intentional studio for the journey.

When I was first considering taking yoga three years ago to help with my lack of flexibility, I was intimidated. I’m the traditional work out kind of girl and yoga seemed to me a total departure from«the norm». I wasn’t sure what I would experience or what I would like. Looking through Unilocal and browsing through each business’s website to try to find a good fit, I came across Mind Body Yoga. I thought a long time about it because the location itself was not as convenient for me as it is now(was 35 minutes by highway), but I liked how the different practices were described plus Mind Body Yoga had a one week pass to try any/all of them. I’m so glad that I took advantage of that one-week option because I found that the different classes gave me very different experiences some of which I enjoyed and others not as much. While I am comfortable with several of the instructors, Jen is my favorite teacher. As the owner, she’s everything you’d expect she should be and more. Empowering, inspiring, and caring, you can’t help but feel good in her presence. I know I’m in very capable hands when I practice with her and I look forward to every session. She talks just enough to guide you through the poses and occasional meditation. Most important to me, she reminds me when to breathe. :p

Your excuses to avoid a yoga practice end here! I am an 60-year old woman who can’t even touch her toes(yet), and I never leave the Mind Body Yoga studio without feeling like the 75-minute session was a perfect balance of challenge and acceptance. No intimidation. No judgement. Just a safe place to work on the body and the mind while stretching quirky muscles in ways you didn’t know you needed. A yoga practice is something I believe everyone in our always-busy world needs. Mind Body Yoga is the perfect place to get that practice going.

It’s my pleasure to review Mind Body Yoga. This is a truly remarkable business with the only intention to make people’s life better through compassion for self, yoga and one to one mindfulness training /talk therapy. Unlike many yoga studios that are designed to make you endure nearly unbearable heat(ahem Bikram) this mellow family like environment has many levels to choose from and melting is not a requirement. As a person devoted to «getting my shit together» meeting one to one with Jenn Fairbanks has been an instrumental… a hearty«Thank You».

There is a great positive vibe here. The instructors are friendly and offer options for those of us with injuries and less flexibility. They are vigilant and teach rather than just lead a class. You never have a sense of not being able to keep up, nor do you feel intimidated. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. There is an excellent variety of classes and instructors to choose from. The studio is clean and there are massage therapists onsite.

My wife and I always enjoy our time here. Each instructor offers something different and they have all been excellent. I’m a chiropractor and I like the classes that challenge my body and make me sweat and my wife likes the relaxing classes so I recommend giving each class a try to find out which is best for you. Jen also has a great mindfulness workbook that goes with her training and we have gotten a lot out of it going through it together.

Last night I attended Michelle’s 6 pm class. I had some confusion finding the studio but the woman who answered my phone call was lovely — patient, happy, grounded. The asana was intelligently offered, challenging, heart felt, spacious and supportive. I have been looking for exactly this kind of class. I greatly appreciate the depth of anatomical knowledge Michelle brings to her teaching. She immediately picked up on a weakness in my knee that I have been healing all year. I felt safe and cared for. I’ve been practicing yoga for 11 years and teach. When I go to a yoga studio, I want deeply experienced teachers, challenging asana without being yogaerobics, and nonheated rooms(my breath will take good care of heat). This studio hit all the marks. I also felt the class reached more layers than just a physical experience. I’m so happy to have discovered this sweet space and look forward to going back.

Mind Body Yoga is an amazingly wonderful studio! The whole community is like a family; the teachers and regular students alike are warm and inviting to beginners and students new to the studio. It is the real deal — the teachers practice Yoga on and off the mat and their passion for this path is very apparent. The studio is lovely, has a very relaxed atmosphere and is spotlessly clean. The teachers are top of the line, and there is a huge variety of class options for level of intensity and experience. You will never feel a corporate vibe — that just isn’t what they do. Jenn, the owner, is a love; it all starts at the top… her love pours down onto all that she does and you can feel it right when you walk in the door. You’re going to love MBY!

Had never done yoga before until I purchased the Groupon which included classes at mind body and yoga. I thoroughly enjoyed the instructors and the classes! Just a calm peaceful environment. They have classes for every stage in yoga from beginning to intermediate. And classes that fit almost anyone’s schedule. I’d definitely recommend mind body and yoga studio I promise you won’t regret the experience, I sure didnt!

I highly recommend the yoga classes at Mind Body Yoga. I purchased the Groupon and attended quite a few classes. All of the teachers were so wonderful and helpful. My favorite was the Sunday evening restorative class. It was such a relaxing way to end a weekend and have a fresh start to my week! I look forward to practicing more yoga at Mind Body.

I got a Groupon to go here and I absolutely adored it! It was so calm and serene and the teachers I worked with were wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed all the classes I attended and felt great after each one. They were very beneficial for me. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great yoga studio.

As a newbie I was unsure if I would enjoy yoga. I tested a number of classes at Mind Body Yoga and Jennifer helped me to see I would certainly enjoy it. Every class includes a variation in the lesson and Jenn(as well as other instructors) makes each one enjoyable with a non-judge mental atmosphere. And level of instruction and complexity is adjusted to each students preference or willingness for challenge.

Mind Body Yoga is a studio where yoga is practiced in the older tradition with classes to fit most pursuits. It is NOT a yogaeribics studio, it is NOT105 degrees. It is a place free of judgment with instructors who attend to their students ensuring you practice well and offer modifications for those who require more or less intensity.

I have long been a serial yoga studio visitor – what’s more, I’ve been very sporadic about yoga class attendance. And by sporadic I mean once every 8 months. Mind Body Yoga has changed both of those things. These instructors are all first class – they are very approachable and offer the most specific, helpful instruction I’ve ever experienced in yoga classes. The studio space is peaceful and classy. My only complaint is that the classes I love most start about 30 minutes before I am able to get there from work – totally not their fault, just sad for me :)

I really enjoyed the small class size and the variety of focus and poses. A Unilocal deal led me to this Yoga studio which I attended to supplement the 2 classes I take in Cedar Park. Every class I attended here was led by Liz who was great at changing up the focus each time. I consider myself a beginner and most others in the class were more advanced than me. Liz, an excellent instructor, was also very patient and would help those like me who were less advanced.

Can’t recommend the multi-class passes here. They expire quickly & there’s no easy way to reinstate them. I received them as a gift, & I’d have been fine them losing value incrementally over time, or paying some fee to get them back(dock me a class or some such). The business can set their own policies, of course, but they don’t strengthen customer relationships by taking money without providing value in return. And since only 1 or 2 people had signed in to the class I wanted to attend, and the one before it, I’d say customer retention should be an area of focus. Low enrollment leads to cutting class offerings, and decreases the value of multi-class passes further. Going out of business decreases the value of such passes, too. Here’s hoping they’ll be more mindful of customer relationships in future. They are very close to my house and their teachers are good, so I hope they’ll succeed. But I will certainly pay as I go!

Mind Body Yoga is a great place. All the instructors are so nice. I have taken classes with several different instructors, and they all make a point to welcome me, tell me they’re happy I’m there and they’ve all talked to me after class to see how it was. I have never gotten this treatment at a yoga studio. The classes I’ve taken have ranged from 3 – 6 people. This allows for plenty of one-on-one time; they will always come help you if you need it. It’s also easy to see what’s going on. In the large, gym-like classes I’ve taken in the past I had trouble seeing the instructor because 20 people were in the way. The instructors never cared much if you«got it» or not. There is a wide range of classes offered, so you are bound to find your style. My favorite class so far has been Candlit Yoga — it was exactly what I was looking for. I’ve also tried Restorative, Mindfulness and Pilates. Mind Body Yoga is extremely friendly to beginners, but advanced yogis will have opportunities to be challenged too. They also try very hard to have a community. Everyone is friendly to newcomers, and they have potlucks about once a month. Great business. I’m happy to support it.

One update — while I still love the«vibe» at this studio, I was a bit disappointed that the multi-class passes have an expiration date that seems short to me. I don’t get enough chances to use the pass, so I lose money on these. I’ll probably continue to attend occasionally, but buy a single class at a time.

I was fairly new when I started practicing here and my only exposure had been«gym yoga». What I love about this yoga studio is the small class sizes and the fact that the instructors walk around and help make adjustments. If there is an instructor that doesn’t really do it for you, or a type of yoga that you’re not in to, you’re in luck because there are plenty of other instructors to try and they each come with their own flavor. Also, the hot tea(which is always fresh and available) is oh so yummy, and Jenn(the owner) is a beacon of positive energy, light, and love!

Recently I had both the flexibility in my schedule and the time to drive up north to Mind and Body. One of my favorite yoga instructors, Kate, told me that she teaches a class up there on Mondays at 12:00PM. Well, I was on a yoga roll that week, so I made the trek up north. The space is in a mostly deserted strip mall on 183. There’s a helpful sign that says«yoga» before the turn in that’s helpful. Otherwise I’m sure I would have missed it. The space itself is nice and welcoming. It’s not too big and not corporate at all. It’s just a nice, intimate space. The yoga class, itself, was great(but then Kate always is). There were probably ten of us in the class that day. It was a manageable size. We’re thinking about buying a house up north, and if we do that I wouldn’t hesitate to join this studio. But for now, the trek is just too much for me to practice regularly up there.
