AWESOME! Bought the Lasagna with meat sauce from HEB instead of the Stouffer’s and was absolutely blown away by the quality of their product… tasted just like it was out of a restaurant! DELICIOUS! If you’re looking for a quick and easy Italian meal that doesn’t taste quick and easy, Michael Angelo’s is the way to go! I don’t normally do the Unilocal reviews myself, but if it is a product that I 100% stand by I will review it, companies like Michael Angelo’s need to be spoken of. If you buy their product I assure you will not be disappointed. SUPPORTYOURLOCALBUSINESSES!

FORGETTHERESTAURANT; MICHAELANGELO’S COOKIN’! OK, I usually write reviews about restaurants and the occasional«other» business you have to go OUT to experience. But sometimes I like to stay home, and let someone else do the cooking. In this case, that«someone else» is Michael Angelo. I’m a huge fan of their Frozen Lasagna, both the Meat and the Sausage. I’m known among my friends as a VERY good cook(maybe even chef?), and I make a KILLER Lasagna. No brag, just a fact. So anything«store-bought» had better be GOOD. It’d better be close in quality to what I can whip up at home, or what’s the point? And NOBOLOGNESESTYLE! I might get lazy sometimes, but I WON’T compromise! I don’t have to, when it comes to Lasagna; this is my «savior». Now, Lasagna is not hard to make yourself; please try to sometime. Message me and I’ll send ya a link to a GREAT recipe. But you’ve GOTTA have two«essential» pieces of equipment: a LARGE, DEEP Lasagna Dish; even with an extra-deep pan, my Lasagna al Forno bubbles out over the top(might be the 3 Lbs of meat?). You also need an equally large(and in the case of Lasagna, TALL) PASTACOOKER with a basket insert(8 — 12 Qts.). That being said, it’s not the DIFFICULTY of making lasagna, it’s all the STEPS involved. It’s not something you whip out in 5 minutes, like you would a burger. It’s a LOT of work. But«settling» for a weak imitation is not an option. Is there a REALLYGOOD Lasagna I can have on demand, and just throw in the oven? YES! Michael Angelo’s fills the bill in all respects. It is THICK, MEATY, and has all the proper ingredients including RICOTTA(I can’t believe some companies leave this out). My only complaint is that it is a bit UNDER-SEASONED, but that’s to be expected in «store-bought» food; ya gotta cater to the folks who want low sodium, and I totally respect that. Only problem with Lasagna is it’s so damn thick that sprinkling a little salt & pepper on the top does not even do the trick. Still, understanding the circumstances and the needs of others, that’s NOT enough to knock off a star. Probably not a bad idea for MOI to cut down on the salt, too, huh? Remember, I judge a product based on what it’s TRYINGTOBE. Is Michael Angelo’s Frozen Lasagna trying to be «grocery store frozen lasagna»? I dunno; if it IS, it FAILSTHETEST. Why? Because, my friends, this succeeds in being RESTAURANTQUALITYLASAGNA! And a GOOD restaurant at that; I kid you not. Stouffer’s? Marie Callender’s? Fuggetabouit! Especially Stouffer’s:(«Where’s the BEEF?»). I used to get better Lasagna from the Lunch Lady in the school cafeteria! Michael Angelo’s Lasagna is meaty, thick, and traditionally made. They call it «Small Batch, Made From Scratch.» I am by NO means comparing Michael Angelo’s Frozen Lasagna to the experience you’ll have with your significant other at a fine-dining establishment, but the QUALITY is as good or better than a lot of restaurants, even some high-end ones. I’d DEFINITELY rather have this than Olive Garden(gag me!). I have taken OG’s Zuppa Rustica to new heights in my own kitchen. WAY better than theirs(sorry to digress). And the price for Michael Angelo’s Lasagna? 2 Lb. package is 5.96(not incl tax), or whereabouts, at local grocery stores. More than enough for two. AND it’s available in other cities/markets across the nation. I can get it in my «other» hometown of San Diego! Lil’ taste of good ol’ Austin(er, Round Rock actually). Go get some next time ya just wanna stay home, but still eat well. HEB’s Ciabatta Bread(w/garlic butter) goes well with it. And maybe a nice bottle of Chianti. Yeah, that’ll just about do it! larrythediner .
