This Maudie’s is the best in town! Emillio, Adrianne and Rene are awesome! They know us by name(not sure if that is a good thing) and know exactly what we want to drink and usually what we want to eat. They are attentive to us, our dogs, when we take them, and generally feel like family! We love Maudie’s North Lamar and will not go to another one in town because we love the staff here so much!!!

5+ stars and super shout out to the management at Maudie’s North Lamar. I am on a strict elimination diet and called ahead to see my options. The manager went through options over the phone, and when I arrived, visited my table, confirmed she saved me a piece of meat that didn’t have seasoning on it, gave me veggies I was able to eat, confirmed which things were allergen free, and even passed off a personal bag of tortilla chips. Really– I couldn’t have asked for better service. The food,(chicken fajitas) were totally delicious, and even better, no reactions to the food.

Come here often and love it but once found a roach in my husbands taco and now we found a gnat in our margarita. Disappointed. Servers are rude.

Great food. Love that they offer vegan and vegetarian dishes. The veggie tacos are great. The Margarita’s are good also. The salsa is very good along with crispy chips. Our favorite mexican food in the Austin area so far.

Pretty standardly good tex-mex. It is in a great location if you’re near the triangle, and having it within walking distance is especially nice for those happy hour outings. Big fan of the chips and salsa, and they also have fabulous queso blanco and a pretty solid guac if you want to mix things up with your chip game. Meal-wise they have a great selection of tacos, and I’ve always been a sucker for their chicken especial quesadillas.

Our daughter’s wedding reception was catered by Maudie’s. It was a positive experience from start to finish. The communication, the food, and the service were all outstanding.

I love their chips and salsa! All the food on the menu sounds great and everything I’ve ordered, I’ve enjoyed. Service on the other hand isn’t that great, but the food makes up for it!

It is what it is. Wasn’t the best Tex mex but I wasn’t expecting the best. It’s your basic kind of place, nothing special. It is kind of hidden in a way. Like I didn’t really know if they were open until I opened the door. Not a super nice layout but I’m mostly about the food anyways. Would I go back??? Probably, because it’s not a bad place, it’s just not very good and if I’m hangry enough and need some Tex-mex then I’d stop there.

I been coming here for years every friday, lastnight was just as great as always. Great food Great service. The only problem i have is hearing work place bullying. I was seated near the waitress station and couldnt help but hearing one of the servers say if he couldn’t get a coworker fired he will make sure the person will want to quit. As a small business owner i feel every business should talk to employees about the hazards of bullying in the work place. I feel sorry for this unfortunate employee. Coming to work as a server is hard enough dealing with moody customers, but having to watch you back for coworkers to sabatoge you is even harder. I am very disappointed in the morals of the server that is doing this.

Likely the best cheese enchiladas I’ve ever had! I was not expecting that. The rice and charro beans were also good as was the crunchy taco they brought out before the main entrée. I love it when restaurants do that. One star off for the employee that decided to stop right beside our table to whip out her cell phone and start texting. Can’t you do that in the back?

This is actually closer to a 3.5*(P says 3*) but the manager pushed it to a 4* for me. He was delightful. Charming, big smile, checked in on us twice AND bussed tables! Haven’t been to Maudie’s in forever but we were down that way and thought why not. I forget all of their stuff is «chili con carne» when I prefer a less meaty/chili powder sauce but that’s certainly not their fault. Quesadilla was good — pico not chopped as finely as Rio Grande(so meh) but the tortillas were crispier which was nice. Water pitcher was lightly iced so the water was cold but a refill did not jam your cup full of ice. Big glasses for water — must. P has this thing about servers taking his last ¼ of diet coke away to refill instead of bringing a new glass and our server here left him his drink to drink while getting him a refill. He really enjoyed that. So, I got my usual: 2 cheese enchiladas, rice, taco. Ground beef is stewed with tomatoes/peppers and kind of watery — not my favorite but was good. American cheese enchiladas are hard to mess up and these certainly weren’t … again, would just prefer a red enchilada sauce instead of their famous chili con carne. One issue — the tortillas !!! Store bought??? P dined on carne guisada burritos and liked them. Said the chunks of meat were bigger than expected. Of course it was slathered in CCC. Last note — I wound up ordering a «grande» margarita and was somewhat disappointed to not see a giant goblet placed in front of me but once I tasted Maudie’s I was MUCH happier that it’s a 16oz(??) cup that tasted quite strong to me – more tequila, less sugar water. I’ll take it!

This used to be my go to Tex Mex restaurant, but no more. The food is the same, but the service has hit rock bottom. For the 4THTIME, they completely blew it. We got to the restaurant a little before 11:30 this morning. Waitress was eager and got our drinks and obligatory queso. We placed our order and kept waiting patiently with no visits from our waitress. 25 minutes in we noticed people who were seated 10 – 15 minutes after us getting their meals. We flagged down another waitress(not ours) and she found our waitress. That’s when the fun started. Our waitress just matter of factly said she’d check on our food with no apology or anything. I said«don’t we at least get a sorry for the wait?» Her response was that it wasn’t her fault so she didn’t need to apologize. At that point we walked out and will never be back. Do not go here ever until they get their service issues resolved.

Went with a large group of coworkers and not a single complaint of food or service. I had the tacos al pastor and probably the best tacos I have had at a restaurant. Really enjoyed the Pico de Pina flavor.

Let me start off by saying… I HATE when I have to leave a bad review. That being said… Tonight was a disaster! My husband was in the fajita mood, so he ordered beef fajitas. With it being cold outside I ordered some chicken caldo. First off… The salsa was a little too spicy for me, so my husband asked the waiter to bring some creamy guacamole dip. When it was brought out, it was just plain olé guacamole. Secondly… when the food was brought out, one bite and my husband was done. The beef fajitas tasted more like PEPPERSTEAK. You know, like from a chinese restaurant. He was so disappointed. My chicken CALDO, well it was more like chicken tortilla soup! And trust me when I say… I KNOW what caldo is! Chunks of potato and carrots. Big pieces of chicken. Yummy goodness. What got brought out to me was… shredded chicken, celery, onion, avocado, cheese, and tortilla strips. That is certainly not CALDO! Thirdly, when asked for a manager to come talk to us, it literally took 5 minutes. I guess he wasn’t in a hurry to see what was wrong. I don’t think we’ll be coming back for a while. On that note… we are headed to Chuy’s!

Enchiladas Perfectas were a bit too salty, while the rice and beans were bland. Salsa is definitely on the sweet side. Service is good and waitstaff is very friendly.

There are many Maudie’s around Austin, but the location at N. Lamar is by far the OG. I’m from west Texas so my palate for really great Tex-Mex is highly refined, if I do say so myself. We have eaten at this location A. LOT. I have tried most of the fare. And every time, the food does not disappoint. This place is great because not only is the food really comforting, but the Mexican martini is ridiculously stout and the waitstaff beyond accommodating. Only four stars because when Maudie’s is in the weeds, which is every time we visit, the chip basket doesn’t get refilled quickly, if at all, and beverages are slow to the table. That being said, call on any server, expediter or the ever-present manager, Pete, and the problem is remedied. Sadly, the little things matter most. But, this ain’t corporate Tex-Mex cuisine. So come with an appetite, but be prepared to ask for a little maintenance.

Love this place. I’ve been here a couple of times with coworkers for lunch. The service is good, the salsa is spicy and the food is delicious and served in a generous portion size. Try the Rockin Ruth Ann — two chicken burritos served with rice and beans.

Had a great meal here with my girlfriend. Proportions were plentiful and tasty! There is a small patio out front, which was convenient for us and our slobbering canine companion. Btw the red sauce at this joint is straight nuclear.

There is seriously nothing not to love about Maudie’s! A must for yummy Tex-Mex! The last time I went to Maudie’s, I sipped on a pineapple serrano margarita(your welcome) — the perfect combination of sweet and heat! I also tried the breakfast tacos with the tamale in it for the first time. A total game changer. Be warned. I am willing to bet money it will change your life too! Too bad the closest Maudie’s is about 730 miles from Nashville.

The service and food was great! My only complain was the annoying white family that sat next to our booth, they were so loud I couldn’t hear my boyfriend nor myself talk. That was in no way the staff’s fault. The waitress was really nice and made recommendations. The enchiladas were amazing and I got filled up after one. Constant refill on drinks and chips and salsa.

At the urging of a coworker I tried the south location in 2012. I remember going in and the attitude of the employees was like what you want? The way they looked at me and interaction between us never got better. I’m the guy that figures nobody is perfect and give you a shot. I bought 2 tacos and went my way. I remember going down the road hoping it was worth it. It wasn’t and I threw the rest in the trash. 8.19.15 was a day I figured that maybe things have changed. I needed to take some medicine with food. I was on north Lamar and pulled in. I thought this location is different let’s see what happens. I got in, ordered two tacos at the bar. It took fifteen minutes to get two tacos. I recall how the kitchen staff and everyone were just shooting the breeze. I’m already vested with my money so I ain’t leaving. My tacos finally come out and the cashier dropped my bag before she gave it to me. I just said thanks it’s alright and left. My migas taco seemed to have as much heat ad someone could add. I tolerated the other and truthfully threw half away. I don’t see the big deal but thank God we all have an opinion. For me Unilocal family I won’t search out any of their locations again.

Maudie’s was an okay place to go eat. I really liked the queso they had and the salsa. Ordered the fajitas and they were okay. Not typical fajitas, more like cut beef and chicken, like a mexican stir fry. I absolutely didnt like the tortillas, tasted completely store bought and not fresh. Had to ask for the corn tortillas which were slightly better. Wont be returning to this place. Way better tex mex in Austin.

No wait for a Sunday brunch? Really? We love Maudie’s Bee Caves and on 360! Thus we tried this location to change up our Sunday routine. Unfortunately, this location is a weak link in the Maudie’s chain. We were seated promptly, Oscar was bright eyed, courteous and eager to take our orders. The food, however, was not up to the standard we expect under the Maudie’s name. French toast was burnt; eggs were cold. The sausage was mediocre. We suspect the orders were mixed up and thus cold. We might be back… If the lines are too long elsewhere and we are really hungry.

I have been to the north Lamar location several times, I really have mixed feelings about this place the service is not really consistent. We have waited 10 minutes for our food and we have also waited 30 minutes for our food, we have had good service and also really bad service as well. You just really don’t know what to expect. The food is mediocre tex mex however I really do love the queso and the salsa both seem to be on point. The staff has always been friendly and the happy hour is pretty reasonable. If you haven’t been here atleast once I would recommend trying it out.

Hands down, always our first stop when landing in Austin. Absolutely delicious tamales. Perfectly thin cooked homemade tortilla chips and their salsa as out of this world delicious. For $ 9.99 I had three tamales, rice, beans, and my fill of chips. Grandma got their chicken tacos and had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. She said the tortilla held up better than expected and couldn’t believe how well the food heated up. It was still just as good the next day. My mom and uncle both had the combination plates for $ 12.99 and had options of enchiladas, tacos, tamales, and more that I can’t remember. Their plates also came with a guacamole salad. Service here is excellent and the manager is always on the floor greeting customers and making sure everything is just to the diner’s liking. I definitely recommend this place and we’ll be going back before heading home to New England.

Maudie’s is the tits. This is my go-to place in my neighborhood when I want something good, quick, tasty, fresh, affordable, and comfortable. They have the BEST breakfast tacos in town. I took a friend here who had lived in Austin for years but was moving out of state. She was genuinely upset with me for introducing her to Maude’s tacos right before she left. I come here when I need a freaking cocktail, queso and a gossip session with my friend Jen. I come here with my bf when we don’t want to think of a place to go. I recently tried the chalupas(which I’ve always thought were kind of a practical joke on the gringos, how the fuck do you eat those things?) and they were awesome. They have a gluten-free menu. They have natural, organic meat and eggs. Their salsa makes me want to slap my momma. Yep. Me and Maudie’s is tight.

This is my favorite place to eat in Austin! You will never have Migas this good anywhere! You can’t even make them as good as Maudie’s at home. Their salsa is always just perfect, not too mild or too spicy and their chips are always hot and fresh. I am also always impressed with their service. Their Margaritas are great too, it’s a real shame I developed an allergy to tequila. I used to have Migas and Margaritas for lunch at least once a week! Maudie’s has me covered though, they also have excellent Mojitos! They use fresh mint and lime, not a mix like so many other places.

I can’t say enough good things about this location. I’m used to visiting the Lake Austin Blvd. location, but my gf and I recently moved up to the North side. This location is just as delicious, and not nearly as packed. It might have something to do with the Chuy’s about two blocks away, but this place seems to always have a seat. I even had my birthday party here on a Saturday night and they didn’t even flinch at the 20-person reservation. And sure enough, the place was busy that night, but there were still tables. Omg salsa. The red salsa is amazing, and you should definitely eat a lot of it, but the avocado-tomatilla salsa is ridiculous. If you like green stuff, eat it. Omg beef. The taco meat here is the shit, and the fajitas are spectacular. My favorite fajitas are still at Amaya’s, but this place is an extremely close second. Omg drinks. Margaritas come in a bunch of varieties; and I love them all. This is a great place to have a drink too: D In conclusion, omg. I think that covers it…
