The hype is absolutely real! Definitely one the best burgers I’ve had in Austin. The beef patty was peppery and juicy. Fries were awesome. Ordered our burgers and came into Gibson to grab a beer and eat. The burger is very easily shareable as the potions are big. It’s not the cheapest burger but it’s absolutely worth it and you won’t regret it. I’ve read about bad service but we didn’t have any issues. Matter of fact, staff was very attentive. Next time we come here, we’ll for sure share a burger.

My favorite story about Luke’s was the time we had friends in town from L.A. and they just HAD to go to the Odd Duck. Not to knock that place, it’s got amazing food and a cool vibe, but you don’t get very full and you spend a lot of money. So we’ve got 6 or 7 of us at Odd Duck(right next door) and we’ve easily dropped $ 400+ as a group and I’m still hungry. So I politely told the group that I was gonna roll next door and grab a burger and would be back soon. Immediately 2 of the guys jumped up and said they were interested, but questioned the quality of the burger. I confidently told them that if it wasn’t the best burger they’d ever eaten that I would give them their money back. Needless to say, that story ended the same way it has in similar situations: both of them looking at me like we discovered hidden treasure. They swore up and down that they didn’t believe me, but I was right and this is the best burger EVER. The only other things I’ve had are the shrimp and the veggie, which are all amazing, but the burger is my jam. Best part is it’s right out front of Gibson bar and you can order and they’ll bring it to you inside the bar while you’re drinking… like you can eat amazing food truck food AND drink. Oh, and that annoying dude with the spikey hair(Guy Fieri) did come here and got his socks knocked off too, but don’t go for that, tell em I sent you. Jk, no one knows who I am.

Great food!!! And I love the bar next door. They’ll bring your food to you at the bar next door. I love this concept. The staff has always noticed us leaving the Gibson street bar and made sure we enjoyed our food. The szechuan chicken sandwich is my favorite — I always thought I hated slaw until I tried it. My girlfriend ordered their veggie burger special and really enjoyed it.

The burger is pretty good, but don’t waste your time or money if you are nearby. Go to Shake Shack instead. The Turkey Meatball Sub is pretty good too when they have it as a special. It can be tough to find a good meatball sub in Austin. The service was kind of wonky but it was a busy night at The Gibson. Talked to the owner and he’s a great guy who really cares about customer service!

We tried The Rabbit and The Shrimp They were so good! The parmesan chips go great with the hoagie, but feel free to upgrade to fries. Luke himself took the order, and he’s a nice guy with a beard the swirls like white cotton candy. I like this place.

I’m a huge sucker for Asian fusion places so when I saw the menu I knew I had to come here and give it a try. Wow. This place is YUMMY. I had the Szechuan chicken sandwich and it was so good. The sandwich reminded me of a Vietnamese banh mi because of the veggies inside and the French roll it was on. It comes with a side of Parmesan chips which can be substituted for fries or a salad if you add money. The chips itself tasted like Ruffles with some Parmesan sprinkled on. Nothing special. The portion is also very large so even though $ 10 might seem steep for a sandwich you get a good amount of delicious food for it. My BF tried their Sunday all you can eat brunch buffet and that was super good as well. It cost about $ 14 for that and well worth. They serve Szechuan chicken with Belgian waffles, corn dogs with a homemade honey mustard sauce, fruit that’s soaked in this ginger sweet like sauce…(thought it was weird but it cut the fat), eggs, bacon, and also a tattertot casserole. I don’t eat red meat so that’s the only downside of the brunch. If youre vegan or vegetarian the brunch is a no go. Another great thing about this food truck is that it’s part of gibsons bar. So you can sit in there and have your food brought to you. There’s a parking lot in the back so that’s a plus. The only down side is that there aren’t any waiters exactly. Even though the food is brought to you, you need to go to the bar if you want water or anything to drink.

Grabbed dinner here the other night. I will admit it was pretty late– 10 pm and they close at 11 so maybe that played a role. Our friend got the Cow and really enjoyed it, though my husband and I never tasted it personally. We shared the Rabbit and the Veggie. I was not that impressed with the Rabbit after all the hype. It had decent flavor but the bread was soggy and it seemed like just meat and not much else. The veggie was pretty good. Can’t do wrong with falafel but it was soaked in what I guess was mayo. The sandwiches came with potato chips but all of ours were crushed. It was nice to be able to eat inside Gibson Bar and order drinks with your dinner. For ~$ 10 + a sandwich I guess I hoped for better or at least a variety of side options. If I eat here again I’ll probably try something else like the burger or the shrimp.

The Bottom Line: I am kicking myself for not trying the more adventurous options. So, so good! My better half and I heard about this place thanks to Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I guess that we were feeling a little tired as we opted for The Burger and The Cow. Wow! Cooked perfectly with explosions of unexpected flavor. One of the best burgers that I have ever tasted! Even the simple slaw was raised to a very different level. Watching what other patrons had ordered, I know that I have to come back so sample the other offerings that the folks at Luke’s have composed.

When the woman taking our order said they have the best burger in town, I thought she was exaggerating. She is not Unilocalers, she is not. Luke’s burger was absolute perfection, I highly recommend getting it with their crinkle fries but in a sucker for a thick fry. We also tried The Shrimp which my friend really liked but I wasn’t a big fan. Something about the seasoning with the Granny Smith apple and blue cheese combo wasn’t doing it for me. BUT, I will be coming back for the burger. Then probably coming back several more times…

I saw this food truck on triple D and saw their shrimp patty and had to try it out! It’s located right next to Gibson’s Bar. There’s a parking lot behind the bar and I got there pretty early so it was nice to have parking. The servers/food truck cooks are so friendly! They were so welcoming and happy to help you out. So I got the Shrimp and also a special, the Pork Belly with Bead Thread noodles. I love Pork Belly so I couldn’t resist. The Shrimp — Shrimps were big and it was a very interesting looking patty. The patty itself was on the bland side. Everything in the sandwich added more flavor but I feel like it was trying too hard. The blue cheese, the apples. It was just not for me I guess. The special. It came with about 3 chunks of Pork Belly. It was just grilled and lightly seasoned. It wasn’t amazing or memorable. The cucumbers were bitter. :(I believe that means they are old. The mushrooms were grilled also and pretty good. The noodles has some sauce on it but it was just for looks. I didn’t really get a good flavor from it. I had high hopes for this place, maybe that’s why it’s such a disappointment. Maybe it’s just not my style. If I’m ever at Gibson’s, I will give them another try.

My favorite sandwich served at my favorite bar! What more can a girl ask for? This place is awesome! They have the best shrimp sandwich I’ve ever had and they bring your food to the bar next door. My friends like the Banh Mi(hope I spelled that right), Cow and Rabbit sandwiches, but I always go with the shrimp. Just too good to pass up. They somehow create a shrimp patty and serve it with sliced apples and blue cheese and make it work! Sorcery!

We came because we saw it on Triple D and it was awesome. The presentation was great and the flavor a exploded in your mouth. You order and sit inside Gibson Bar to order your drinks and enjoy the nice A/C. Definitely have to come back.

Everything about their food is perfect. That is all there is to say. And when there is nothing left to say, all I can do is rap: The Burger nearly knocked me out of my chair because they cooked it perfect to medium rare I know you people aren’t faking Cuz you use the most delicious bacon I wanted flavor and you gave me some you buttered up and toasted my hamburger bun I love Luke’s inside out and that ain’t no lie Don’t forget to splurge on some crinkle cut fries *end rap* Also of noteworthy mention are the awesome shrimp Po boy, the brisket Bahn Mi(aka the cow), and the chicken and waffle brunch. They serve the food out of the trailer parked at the Gibson bar. Now it just so happens that the Gibson bar has an excellent drink menu and a great patio. So it’s all good; I’d give it twenty stars if I could.

Impeccable service. We weren’t sure where we could legally seat, so we just went up Gibson’s/bar and sat down, looked at the drinks menu. Before I knew it, the guy that took our order had brought our food to the table. The crazy fries were plentiful, and the sandwich looked tasty. Unfortunately I couldn’t bring myself to eat rabbit(what’s gotten into me?), but it looks like it tasted alright. Portions were big and hypnotic. Looked like a lot of people came to order food to enjoy with a drink next door; I only wonder why they are not parked inside the restaurant. Try the crazy fries. They are a solid 4⁄5. Food otherwise was not outstanding. I don’t understand the hype, sorry.

Well holy moly! I had no idea about Luke’s Inside Out. I was in a car with 2 other people when one says hey lets go there as we were passing … so I busted a u-turn and we went for it. It is actually rare that I do this … usually the places I go are planned out and I get to do some research and get excited. None of that for this trip. Sometimes this is a good thing and you can be completely surprised at what a place has to offer you! Luke’s was a huge surprise. They mostly do sandwiches and shareable items. On Sundays they do a brunch buffet for $ 12 a person. As we were looking over the menu there was a super cool lady — Kate and she explained the menu and answered all our questions. Kate was awesome and I could tell by her excitement that she loved the food, which usually is a good sign for what is about to come. We ended up ordering the chicken, the rabbit and the shrimp. We got a number and headed inside the Gibson bar to find a table. When our sandwiches were delivered to the table I was shocked at the size of them! The chicken in particular was huge! I got to try each sandwich, but my main sandwich was the chicken, which had an Asian flair about it. It was fried chicken with a spicy szechuan sauce and sesame slaw … it was packed with flavor and my taste buds were pleased! You also get a choice of parmesan chips or fries and I had gotten the fries. I tasted both and both were great! Luke’s has definitely got a good thing going here and lots to offer! The staff, the food, the atmosphere and the party on my taste buds will definitely bring me back!

I’ve had both their burger and their brunch on separate occasions. Both were good, but not outstanding by any means. For the burger, I’m almost positive that it’s in some best burger of Austin list and I can’t say I understand why. I am a bit of a burger snob(if I’m going to have one, I want it to be outstanding) and I found their meat to be not very tender and way too salty. The brunch was meh to ok. The tater tot casserole(not sure the name of it) was pretty good as was the fried chicken. I could have done without everything else. I debated whether to give them 2 or 3 stars, but their crew always being really nice gets them to 3. Genuine kindness goes a long way with me. It doesn’t hurt either their situation with Gibson Bar that allows you to eat inside. While I’m not necessarily a fan of Gibson Bar(awful acoustics), it was very nice to be able to eat inside on a cold day. Unfortunately, I can’t say I would return to eat, maybe just to say hi to the staff.

Can’t believe I’m just now writing this review. I’ve eaten here a few times now. I don’t even know where to start. I was totally blown away by the food and service! You’ll love the people as much as the food. I thought I knew what I was in for, but the food still took me by surprise. Luke’s is probably the best«street», «truck», «trailer», or «whatever you what to call it» food that I’ve every had… no lie. I heard a lot of good things about the food here, but you have to try it to believe it for yourself. I’ve tried a few of the different dishes on the menu and all have been better than expected. The«Rabbit» is my favorite; the Korean BBQ style sandwich is definitely something you wouldn’t expect for a small kitchen. The flavors are bold and in your face in the best probably way. OMG! It’s a better dish than you would find in most upscale dining establishments, trust me. The rabbit is tender, moist, and seasoned well and the bold flavor comes from the Korean BBQ sauce and the kimchi makes this sandwich stand on it’s own. Very well done. The«Pig» is another well thought out sandwich that screams, Austin! It’s hard to go wrong with Pulling pork, bacon, and Gouda. Once again, the flavors are layered and in perfect concert with each other. In a city that is world known for it’s BBQ, Luke’s holds it’s own. The Baby Back Ribs are some of the best in town. Great flavor and tender enough to pull right off the bone. And it’s one of the best bites of BBQ you can take in Austin. Great place to grab a fantastic meal and sit outside and enjoy it all. Luke’s is a must visit when you’re in Austin! Period.

So, it’s been open for several years and I haven’t reviewed it. I’m feeling sad that I didn’t do so earlier, because it was better«back then» I digress however, as I’m going to review it as it stands«today» We have a girls group that loves Gibson’s and visits monthly, on average. After doing this for the past 4 – 5 months, I’ve come to realize that there is always an «issue» with Luke’s. Last night, I tried the rabbit sandwich for the first time(for several years I was vegan so…) At any rate, it was overly salty, but tasted great and had an Asian flair I love. Unfortunately, I had a migraine three hours later so I must assume it was full of MSG. I didn’t ask Luke, because by then I was home, but nothing else does that to me. Some ingredient they’re using has the flavor enhancer, no doubt(i.e. warning, if MSG is an issue for you) ALSO last night, one of the ladies tried the special – a filet mignon for $ 19. Although she’s a self pronounced Luke’s fan, she described it as bland, and blah. Definitely not high quality and certainly not worth a 20. Ok, stuff happens. BUT, she told Luke. His response? «Yeah, I wasn’t very impressed with the way that special turned out, either». No discount, no rain check, notta? Really? We’ll go back because we love Gibson’s. But, I won’t be promoting the food truck again.

Went to Gibson for a drink with a buddy and was pleased to see that this spot was connected to it. I got The Rabbit, a Bulgogi(Beef marinated in Korean sauce) sandwhich, and ribs for an appetizer. The ribs were really good. They served it on a bed of coleslaw but allow you to substitute that for fries. The Rabbit was good too! It was filled with a lot of meat and tots. The food was very filling for a trailer and it didn’t take long for me to realize that I had ordered way too much food. Next time I am probably just going to stick with the ribs with crinkle cut fries. I’ll definitely be coming back to this place!
