This place needs to hire some help. It’s the morning and they have one person cooking food at a busy airport where people really do have to keep to a schedule. Do yourself a favor – check in a few minutes early and head down to the other side of the airport and hit Waterloo Ice House. They are making fresh food that’s pretty much like the food in their restaurant – ie better than edible. I guess you don’t have to be even palatable if you are at the airport and there are gates right around you…

I had the chopped brisket sandwich. It was pretty bad even in terms of airport food. It was cold and greasy. I guess that is what I get for trying to eat bbq at an airport. :)

Grossest veggie burger ever. Don’t know what I expected from an airport eatery though. Oh, and it took a good 15 minutes to cook. And by cook I mean heat up a frozen patty. Annnnd I was the only person in line. WTF?

Took my pup and I in the waiting area. Made a perfect Vodka Soda with lemon to chase our flyin’ fears away. Not sure I’d touch any food here with a 10′ pole but I’d grab another strong drink to relax me for the flight.

Have you ever ate a hamburger in which the grease drained out like water? I have at Lefty’s in the Austin airport. It is disappointing that the airport in Austin has terrible food and their are so many great restaurants in the city. Trust me, Maudie’s, and Salt Lick SUCK in the airport. I have not tried Mangias, but I am pretty sure they suck too. If there was a way I can give this place a negative star, I would but they do serve a cold Miller Light.

In airport food terms, this was pretty good.(in the real world, they’d get 2 – 3 stars) Thought the service was absurdly slow, but it may be a south of the Mason-Dixon line thing. I’m always surprised with how lame the food is in the Austin airport given how cool Austin is — Lefty’s was a great surprise. I tried the Guadalupe Chicken Sandwich(toasted chicken sandwich with melted swiss and pico) that was pretty good. The fries sucked. You can also grab a naked juice or beer at Lefty’s which is convenient.

Pretty greasy breakfast tacos, but that’s what hits the spot when I’m reluctant to get hungry during a ~3 hour flight home. Not bad for airport food, but on the expensive side, of course. For what it’s worth, this is near the Jet Blue gates, so you should be able to get free wifi while chowing down.
