Delicious! I had ceviche here and honestly it is the best in Austin. It tasted as good as the ceviche I get on the beaches of Cancun and Cozumel. Fresh and prepared very well. I also ordered the mole chicken. They nailed it. Not a lot of Mexican food places will even try to prepare mole. But I don’t think I’ve ever had it prepared better, or that it taste better anywhere. Finally, all my menu choices were at the servers recommendation. He had worked there for 8 years. Very impressive to have such retention and loyalty. They are obviously doing a lot of things right.

There is better Tex Mex in Austin. Tortilla soup is not that good. The side of rice is just plain white rice. Enchiladas verdes were pretty good, but not the best. They do have a cool outdoor seating area, albeit in a strip mall. Didn’t have drinks, so can’t comment on that.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Austin. This isn’t Tex-Mex. It’s Mexican food. And it’s surprisingly good. The space is larger and nicer than it looks from the outside. I love the enchiladas, she loves the cochinita pibil, and the Teen loves the tacos.

Place wasn’t bad. Give it 3.5 stars Staff is nice and courteous and very nice! The food is average, not bad. However if you go, the pork empanadas aren’t bad all. Also the rajas queso is good too. They don’t split up and sell a taco with an enchilada if you wanted to try a little of each. I’d definitely give it another run due to the nice staff.

You know what? It was really good. My friend and I met for lunch and she had been there many times. It was my first visit. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated right away. Waiter arrived within 2 minutes, limeade drinks were delivered quickly, warm chips and salsa arrived next, ordered, and food was out in a decent time frame – maybe 7 – 10 minutes(when we get talking it’s hard to pay attention). My friend had Chicken Pecan and the taste was good with lots of sauce and the chicken was very tender. My Chili Relleno was good too. Interesting favors with a bit of sweetness to it. We split a Sopapilla which was a stand out dessert. It was topped with smooth vanilla ice cream and drizzled with Carmel and something sweet but not crazy sweet. Just perfectly sweet. Would I come back? You bet. I’ll try the ceviche next time.

Sad visit. Times before have been very good but not tonight. Uninspired service, fajitas were overcooked and taste was off. Los Paloma’s combination plate was delivered warm, shredded pork was subpar. Hoping they get back on their usual A game.

You don’t always find very many upscale Mexican restaurants around but I would put Las Palomas in this category. It’s no where near a black tie kind of place but it is a nice place on the inside. I originally came to try them out because they’re known for their margaritas. By the way, they’re freaking delicious! Their food is equally good and I’ve always had good service here. They also have a nice patio which is great on pretty day.

There are many options for mexican, or any kind of food for that matter, in Austin but the best in the westlake/bee caves area has to be LP and here’s why. 1. Service — professional, prompt, courteous, well staffed and fun. It’s not uncommon to see the owner, Mari Carmen«in the trenches» making sure her restaurant meets standards. 2. Food– envision a seasoned mexican grandma preparing well proportioned meals for her guests and to me that’s what the food reminds me most of. Your not exactly eating artwork here but the dishes are fresh, made from scratch and delicious. 3. Atmosphere — LP has 4 different hacienda dining areas each one with its own feel to it. Clean standards, a quaint deck and live music on Saturdays too. 4. Drinks — I drink allot of ice tea at any restaurant I dine in so I appreciate the variations of flavored teas and limeades they offer. The glassware for these drinks are big which I like. Just like the food, cocktails are made from scratch and the margaritas are variously made from agave, lime, orange juice and not the premade sweet and sour so many other restaurants cheat with. Strong too. The best of mexican beers can be found here as well. 5. Tenure — LP has been serving Austinites longer than Ive been alive which in Austin’s competitive eat out market is impressive in its own right. I’ve been told even more renovations are in the works and I’ll surely be around to enjoy them. As far as reccomendations go try the limeade, cherry limeade, hibiscus ice tea, LP margarita, michelada, mojito and hibiscus mojito for drinks. Enchiladas tres Marias, ceviche tostadas, salmon salad, banderillas, and steak chimichurri are some of my favorite meals. I have the best time on the deck if weather permits. If you go as a big group they have a private room too. Bars cool too. Just need one big screen and I’d be happy.

I went there the other day with my son and the service and food was super great. I have eaten here a few times before but never posted a review. I was in the area this past time and felt compelled to post one. The service was fast and professional, the food was tasty and filling, the restroom are super clean, the parking lot is a bit tricky but there are lots of spaces to pick from.

I had been wanting to try our this place for quite some time. Since it is a bit of a drive from Kyle we kept putting it off. We finally made reservations for a party of 7, my father’s birthday. I truly wanted to like this place but I must say I was underwhelmed. The 2 main things that come to mind is there is absolutely no attention to detail from the way they serve their drinks(no salt around the rim of a Mexican Martine glass, even after I requested it) too having to remind them to bring out a dessert so we could sing Happy Birthday to him. When it was brought out the dessert was just placed on the table with a small candle and the server walked away no attempt to help us sing whatsoever. The food was OK nothing I would want to run back for. The server seemed to be in quite the hurry to get us to leave as she brought us the check before we could order dessert and coffee. This was just our opinion and our experience.

Excellent mole enchiladas in a nice environment. Yummy chips & salsa. Nice atmosphere quieter than most restaurants. Handles groups well.

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago, and the food and service were excellent. Not your typical Tex Mex, more inspiration from Spain. The ambiance is more upscale than your typical TexMex type restaurant and did I mention the food was great! ;-)

Love their lunch specials and the caldo soup. They are known for their mole’. Their chips are the best also. They have a great staff that is very friendly and their place is very clean. Highly recommend!

I’ll have to admit that I was skeptical about this place being authentic given it is in Bee Caves. I had the Pibil plate and was pleasantly shocked at how good this was, it reminded me of being back in Merida with family. The service was great, Miguel took great care of me, he checked in just enough times and was attentive to my empty glass of beer. On my way out I stopped by the wall and took some time to read this history of this place, over 30 years of family ownership was what sealed me to this place. As a Mexican I give this place two thumbs up!!!

we came here for dinner and really enjoyed it! We had the mole enchiladas which were very good. They had a great live guitarist playing music, and our waiter was terrific!

Best Mexican food in Austin. When they have live music its a special treat. I always order the fish with cilantro and lime butter sauce. I think everything is good. Above average

I have finally gotten my butt back here and decided to re– evaluate. The service was very poor the last time I came, but this time it was much better. Perhaps it’s just best to go on week days. Management was also nice enough to encourage me to come back. It’s nice when you know they care about what customers think. Like everyone else says, their mole enchiladas are fantastic and the chicken was moist and delicious. I also tried the ceviche tostadas and they were pretty good. A much better experience!

The bartender(tall lanky bald guy) seemed to be a fairly nice guy, until we asked to split our checks. We were three guys sitting at a bar. I was surprised he automatically lumped us all together anyway. Then he put all of our tax on one of our bills, and started lecturing us saying, «You’ll have to figure the tax out between yourselves, cause I’m not gonna take 15 minutes to figure out who owes what.» He could have just re-rung the checks separately if he gave a rip. It would’ve taken like two minutes. If you like being treated like dirt by bartenders, this is your place.

This is my favorite Mexican food restaurant in Austin. The consistent quality of their ingredients as well as the recipes that have been passed down through generations of their family have not only aged well, but under the leadership of the daughter have continued to evolve. It is Zagat rated for a reason. I dine at Las Palomas 2– 3 times per month. Recently when we had relatives in town from Marble Falls we lunched at LP. Guess where they wanted to return the next day? You guessed it, Las Palomas. It is now a lunch destination for them whenever they come to Austin to shop, etc. I always have the crispy beef tacos because it is simply the best taco I have ever eaten. Why mess with perfection? My husband and children try different choices(they love the fish tacos) but truly I have never heard a negative word about the food quality. The salsa is fresh, perfectly seasoned and the chips are warm and seem to me house made. This is a destination restaurant!
