There’s not a lot to expect from a compounding pharmacy. Obviously whatever scrip has been prescribed but outside of that simple courtesy. I had my doctor send the prescription here because it was closer to my house. Apparently the pharmacy has the option of choosing the dispenser and perhaps this particular contraption was the pet project of the pharmacist and she got offended when I didn’t like it, I don’t know. Literally a contraption for dispensing a cream, turn the dial this-away, make sure it clicks four times, etc. Once I got home I realized that this contraption when opened gooshed the cream out. The curved broad surface also being nearly impossible to clean correctly — rubbing alchohol would get into the opening and besides the cream just keeps gushing. When I called, the pharmacist could not understand why I was having a problem with this and insisted that«I told you when you were in.» Meaning, I guess, that the thing needed four clicks. And yes, she would transfer the cream to a simple tube if I brought it in, nyah. Not super condescending but that snippy«What’s wrong with you» type of condescension. No apologies, no thank you for your business, no effort whatsoever. Business must be good but I know there are quite a few compounding pharmacies that will value my commerce in this town so I won’t be going back here.

Outstanding customer service. Everyone is very quick to ask if you need assistance and they even gave me some organic allergy medicine for free to try because I was clearly only interested in the non organic chemical strong stuff!

What a great business! I have been a customer since they were located next to Highball and never had a single issue. I typically use their delivery service, but I had to go in to change my insurance and the store is great! The staff was extremely helpful, way better than the chains down the street. Keep Austin Local!

I love Lamar Plaza Drug Store, they always have what I need. All of the associates are so helpful and sweet, this is a family owned business which I love. Plus, they will deliver your prescriptions! Since I have moved to Austin last year this is my go to for all my allergy meds.

Thank you Lamar Plaza Drug Store for lying on the claim form to Blue Cross Blue Shield. This was the reply I received from them. Glad you were able to recoup your losses by way of deceit. Since you stated you own several pharmacies in Austin, I will clearly be using my mail in pharmacy option from now on. ___________________________________ 143095134232024000 12/11/201409:37:19 — HCSC Response: Hello Leah, We have thoroughly reviewed the claim prescription claim for Entecavir tab 0.5MG filled on 11/05/2014 and show that it was processed correctly. The patient responsibility is $ 15.00. We show that the pharmacy, Lamar Plaza Drug Store is a participating pharmacy and should not be billing you for any amount over than the $ 15.00 copay. Since you state you were billed a total of $ 53.00 and the pharmacy will not reimburse you for the overpaid amount, you may wish to contact the pharmacy’s corporate office or their website to file a complaint. If you have any additional questions, please let us know. Thanks, Rachel H. – LEAH– 11/30/201418:50:50 — Member Question: Regarding claim: 143095134232024000 I was charged $ 53.00 for my drugs not $ 15.00 as stated on this claim. I tried to send in the copy copies of the receipts I was given and I was told these weren’t sufficient to file the claim. I’m upset because I believe there was a certain level of fraud that occurred with this transaction. I’m filling a complaint with the Texas Attorney General.

Everyone here is so knowledgeable, nice and helpful! This is my go-to pharmacy. They definitely have that personal touch that the big box pharmacies lack. Ashley, the compounding specialist, is awesome too — always so cheerful and she’s great at what she does! The whole team is great! Love having this place in the neighborhood. Get your flu shot here too!

Very nice and local. Sometimes they don’t have the drugs in stock but they get them within a day or two. They always greet you when you walk in the door.

Oustanding service and phenomenal compound pharmacy team. Ashley is the best pharmacist with whom I have worked and I unfortunately require a lot of prescriptions to be compounded — more than most people. They really earn your business each and every transaction. They value customer loyalty and have no «airs» about them if you have questions or may be confused on a topic. Best group in town! They deserve our business.

I’ve recently decided to support local small businesses as much as I can. Especially since express scripts has been trying to get me to have a baby by effing up my birth control RX like 4 times this past year. There is only so many times you mess with my world before I drop your ass like a bad habit. Lamar plaza drug store is the quaint shop on the corner. They are dog friendly, and always know Tucker and I when we come in. Tucker knows where the treats are, and they gladly give him as many as he would like. Everyone there is super personal, nice, and friendly. It’s easy to get to, and can get in and out quickly. They always have what I need and they also offer compounding, wellness coaching, and even have a few alternative medication for the local hippies. This is an excellent place to take care of all your needs!

The new store is what it is at next to Starbucks on South Lamar were the pool hall once was it is so sterile looking and so organize and yet still all the friendly people that have always been there, they do deliver but I prefer to pick up my medicne. They have a wonderful collection of all the vitamins you could ever need., I strongly suggest that you swith your meds to a pharmacy that really cares about what you are taking and have real people to talk too. It is hard to not spend money in there because even though you go for your prescription it is a strange healthy feelng you get just going in there.

Best Little Pharmacy in Austin! I’ve been going to Lamar Plaza Drug Store ever since my insurance changed where I could get my medication. I am so glad they did. It is a small pharmacy with only health related items shelved in the store. Don’t go here expecting to browse tons of snacks, greeting cards or pick up groceries. The wait has always been short, and if you want you can have your medication delivered to your home for free! The delivery guy is great and super friendly, I’m sorry I can never remember his name!

Lamar Plaza has reenforced my belief in buying local, for numerous reasons. Every time I fill a prescription, it’s done quickly. They have a discount program that allows you to pay an annual fee and get a considerable amount off of your prescription which is great for a student with no insurance! Their pharmacist has come from behind the counter more than once to help me choose an OTC medication that will help me the most and their pharmacy tech/compounder, Ashley, never hesitates to answer questions about prescriptions. I’ve had a great experience with this pharmacy. Support local Austin businesses, you won’t get this kind of service and knowledge at Walgreens.

Went to Austin for an event and of course I forgot my meds at home back in Dallas. Went to this cute pharmacy off Lamar and it seemed right out of a movie. A chic named Ashley helped get me all set up for the weekend — Thanks LPDS!

I love this little drug store! This is by far the best drug store I have ever visited when it comes to filling prescriptions. I have an online account set up, so its always easy to request a refill. When I show up a few hours later, I’m usually the only one there & the prescription is always ready for me. I literally spend about 2 minutes there every time I go in. Whenever I have a new prescription to be filled, they are always very quick to fill it(maybe 10 minutes?), make sure that I understand how to take the medication, and always ask if I have any questions. The staff is always really friendly, too. Great local pharmacy!

Just visited this local drugstore for the first time and had a great experience. They filled my prescriptions fast(10 minutes) and they went out of their way to get me an over the counter brand which was cheaper and did the same job as one of the items prescribed. Also, one of the medications instructed that I take a whole pill the first day and halfs on the remaining so they cut all the pills in half but one for my convenience. Maybe this is a common practice but it sill left me impressed. Very friendly and informative staff. Plus it felt good to support someone other than walgreens or cvs. Also, the manager personally sent me a letter a couple weeks after my visit to welcome me as a customer and let me know if I ever had a question or concern to call them. How cool is that? I’ll definitely be back.

This place is under new ownership since Alexandra’s review… and I believe it’s gotten better. I was just negatively reviewing Walgreen’s so I figured it’s high time to sing the praises of the new and improved Lamar Plaza Drug Store. All of the good elements of the old charm stuff from the old store remain, with none of the bad. I found one or 2 of each of the generic OTCs I needed on the shelf; still not huge stock of each product, but expiration dates far in the future. They still have some grandma gifts, but their clinic now also features a holistic healer! Here’s my big geek-out: I was thrilled to find Dr. Scholl’s small corn pads for $ 2.50 a pack! My feet are fine, but I use a couple dozen packs of these every year for teaching young violin students how to hold their bows… little by little stores all over Austin have stopped carrying these(no longer at Target, CVS, HEB — I thought Randall’s was the only place left, charging $ 4 a pack!). And the friendly helpful staff were more than willing to make a special order for me. I’ll be back. And I’ll probably never go to Walgreen’s again.
