Dr. Kulkarni is an excellent endocrinologist. However, it does no good to be a great doctor if you cannot ever get a reliable appointment with her. In December 2014, I made an appointment for the third week of April 2015. That was the«first available» appointment. The week before the appointment, a staff member called my home and left a message that, because I hadn’t seen her for some time, she didn’t have time to see me and the first available appointment is in July 2015. This is not the first time I’ve had an appointment bumped by Dr. Kulkarni. Every time I’ve made an appointment with her, I’ve received a call that she couldn’t see me that day and I had to reschedule for another month away(or more). As a result, when I was unable to get an appointment within several months last year, I went to see one of her colleagues: Dr. Taylor. I was extremely disappointed by his failure to listen to me as a patient and to attempt to persuade me to take medication that has been proven to have a high risk factor and a low benefit(and, in fact, I had previously taken such medications and found them to be extremely detrimental to my health). So, Kulkarni decided that, since I hadn’t seen HER in three years(because I couldn’t get an appointment with her), that I wasn’t good enough for her to spend her time seeing as a patient. It didn’t surface that this was NOT the first time that she had cancelled an appointment and left me without services. Yes, she’s a great doctor; but failure to provide good health care delivery makes her services less than useful.

Dr. Kulkarnini is so great, and I would know… I’ve been to many endocrinologists in my time. She is personable and takes the time to listen and try to help. I highly recommend going to see her!

Dr. Kulkarni-Date is an Endocrinologist. I do my research to find the best, especially if insurance is paying for it anyway… :-) She is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. She is also the Chief of Endocrinology for UT Southwestern Austin programs… as well as a Professor. With this being the case, she normally has 1 or 2 medical students following her, which isn’t a big deal, at least for me… It’s not like my visits are invasive(if you know what I mean), so I welcome those that are needing to learn. The only down-side to this though is the appointment runs a little longer than usual, because you’re first seen by the nurses, then the medical student(s), then the doctor. So far so good — I’ve only had 1 appointment so far, and my follow-up is to come in a few weeks. Both the med students and Dr. Kulkarni asked lots of questions and tried best to understand what symptoms and problems I was having. They weren’t in a rush to make a diagnosis, or move on to the next patient. She is very nice, outgoing, and makes you feel comfortable. Making my initial appointment was a 3 week wait — I found out later because she only sees patients on Tues and Thurs. However, my follow-up was quicker to schedule — she could’ve seen me next week but I had blood-tests that had to be done, so to make sure they were back in-time, they scheduled me in 2 weeks. You also must have all your medical records transferred there prior to your first appointment — which I found very helpful because she had a more accurate outlook on what was going on, including prior lab work. The parking is on the SW corner of 12th and Trinity… don’t be fooled by the online maps that put you at 12th and San Jacinto. That is the correct block, but parking is in a small garage, and the entrance is on Trinity… and it’s free, unless you choose to do valet. Go to the elevators, and go up to the 1st floor to the offices.
